So could anyone please advise the exact fees for the loan, the option to buy and the requirement?
  2. Inman's injured? I'd expect to see him starting instead of Donaldson.
  3. A great advert to those local young Shearers, Bruces, Beardsleys and Carricks this will be to know the club will transfer list you without even telling you first hand, and try to turn the supporters against you by releasing rumours about massive wage demands to the press. He's at least as good now at what is required of a premier league defender as Coloccini is, and Taylor will almost certainly improve in the next few years as Coloccini declines. If wages are the problem, then why has the curly haired one not been transfer listed too, we've another 3 years of paying his wages which are almost certainly higher than the fabricated £60k? I can bet that if a reasonable offer comes in for Colo Ashley wouldn't mind to treat him a free ticket.
  4. The statement from his agent sounds like they did try to request for a huge offer but is now shocked by the club's "harsh" response: "Figures released to the media do not accurately reflect the position of either Steven or his agent. "Both remain happy to continue negotiations over a new and extended Newcastle United contract. "Steven was disappointed and surprised to hear through third parties that the club had decided to transfer list him. "He has always given 100% to the club and will continue to do so given the opportunity." ---------- I doubt the club is really "remain happy to continue negotiation" now. Placing him on the transfer list at this moment means the negotiation has borken down already and the club opts to sell him rather than keep him. And yea, os probably history repeats, just this time the club refuse to back down.
  5. Exactly, he's had over 6 years in the first team and the only thing he'd be remembered for if he was sold tomorrow is being that local lad who had potential. He's not even worth £30k. Must say I'm pleasently surprised by the percentage of rationale voting. I thought many would frame this as local geordie hero vs Ashley c***...and inevitably vote for the former. To be honest, that would be a tough call if it's Carroll who demand 60k ppw.
  6. Jesus. Can't he be more optimistic and contribute more to the team so as to completely eliminate the chance of relegation? Instead of dragging on that clause? FFS Yea, good riddence.
  7. Nah, I only miss his commitment. He has not progressed as what we expect him to be. He is currently earning what he deserved imo and if he wants to ask for wages higher than 40k then I firmly support the club's decision - even if it's from Ashley.
  8. Well the reason why Heskey was chosen is because he is already the best option.
  9. Still too early for Carroll. And to be honest, Zamora deserves a chance more than Carroll. Zamora has been very impressive for more than 1 season while Carroll has just starred in 1 match. He should keep his head down and work extremely hard for at least 1 more season. Though, tactically, he is priceless for Capello. A frontline targetman who can set up plays with his aerial abilities is always the best partner for Rooney. Period.
  10. now that's a good deal. We have a tough midfield tackler. One more Ben Arfa and we should be ok till Christmas.

    I love this thread.
  12. Damnit. I got a feeling like Cleverley > Gerrard from the posts above.

Orang: Thanks for the info. Ashley has a close competitor then. tmonkey: No. The opposite. He is "famous" for being slow.
  14. Tell me why we need to spend a major part of our budget on a new average striker, when we dont need another?! Explained. We need one at that time. We are now safe and of couse you can say that's a waste of $. If we have injury problem and forced to start Smith/Nolan as striker, and turn out cannot get the promotion, you will definitely crying for why not signing Best. The logic is simple, we need an insurance, when we cannot afford a real deal striker. While you say our major part of budget is wasted, I wonder which position you would like to improve BACK IN JANUARY when we cannot attract any proven EPL players.

With such a low net spending per season, how could the debt level rise during his reign? The gate receipt is too low or the wages is too high?
  16. We have got loads of them. We need a starting striker! Tell me how to get a starting striker with a budget below 3m.
  17. To be fair, the signing isn't that bad. You've gotta consider 1. Shola is very injury prone 2. Andy is a troublemaker and is also kinda injury prone 3. Loven is aging 4. Ranger is still very very raw We do need a young and average striker for back up. At that moment we are not yet promoted and have no money. So the signing of Best isn't rlly that bad. Just not a great signing. He is just 23 and we can easily sell him for $ so it won't be a huge loss either.
  18. Isn't AC Milan agreed to sign Otamendi for 10m before World Cup?
  19. It's been obvious he would not come when the transfer wasn't finalised before Laporta left. Rosell is never going to meet Arsenal's asking price. I do want him, hopefully next year. Nah. This World Cup has taught him a lesson - he will be at most a squad rotation player at Barca. And he won't accept that, he is just 23 FFS. At least 5 yrs later imo.

Well this is for the future. We couldn't rely on him to fight relegation battle in the coming season. Still a very positive signing though. He would be very useful if we play a 4-5-1 formation.
  21. Ar yea, just have been discussed with friends about this, he has a question: How about a keeper foul his opponent who apparently trying to round him and nearly succeed and prepare to finish it off? Is this a" certain goal"?
  22. No. Red card and a penalty is fair enough. To be honest, I always feel like it's the other way round - red card + a goal conceded is too harsh. Face it, if Gyan has scored the penalty, no one here will scream about the rule. Midds got a point. The other problem is it will leads to a lot more controversal decision since it requires the referee to judge what means "a certain goal". How do you define that? Does that means without the interference of the hand the ball should be in the net? Or whatever a shot is blocked by the means of hand? Apply it to this case, are you sure the ball will be a goal without Suarez' interference? From what I see, the ball should hit Suarez' head instead of go directly into the net. I am not sure how the ball will bounce after hitting Suarez head, it may still bounce towards the net, I don't know. But the point is, it's ridiculously hard to define what is a "certain" goal in football. And in football ONE goal counts a lot more than other's sports. Such controversal decision, and the consequences, are too much for the referee to carry with. A better way to deal with is to penalize Suarez heavier AFTER the match, say 6 matches ban.
  23. Walcott can't be worse than him, eh?
