Put it simple. Colo is a good defender ONLY IF he got a decent cover in front of him. And who does we have? Nicky Butt. I don't think it's just a coincidence that Colo's performance went downhill since Guthrie / Batron - the only two mobile central midfielders we have - were sidelined due to injuries. He isn't that bad. Still way lot better than Boumsong/Bramble, nevermind O'Brien. It's the relegation pressure that makes him look so bad. Still, at the moment, Steven Taylor / Bassong seems to be a more reliable partnership. Unfortunately both are injured.
