Why would you not square it to our no.9 FFS
-
I don’t think anyone here would say Jose is a better fit for Newcastle. I am Jose fans but I don’t think we are prepared for a short term win at this moment manager yet. We are still building our foundation as a top 4 contender. But Jose is a realistic appointment if Howe is fired. That’s not something we want, but that would probably be the “most sensible” choice by the management. Not that we would agree with that logic behind, just like firing Howe now is not a sensible decision, but we all know it’s becoming a real possibility.
-
I just hope it won’t be a long term issue, or else we may have potentially ruin a player that should be able to contribute for many years
-
Jose is not a better fit than Howe. I don’t think that needs to be questioned however if Howe is fired after losing the next few games, the management will definitely go for Jose, and I think he will accept the offer. we better hope Howe can turn it around asap
-
Question has to be asked whether Joelinton was really fit to play for the last few games
-
And then my friend reminds me that Howe last season at Bournemouth was exactly like this - serious injury crisis this ended up worst defending record in the league. Anyone mind to verify this?
-
So people said ASM is injury prone and we replaced him with someone who is even worse
-
Another game that we made close to no sub, ran everyone on the ground and end up zero point. Lost to Man City is not a problem. Ran everyone to the ground again is.
-
To be fair we really don’t need a new CB now, we need it this coming summer
-
That’s the lifeline we needed
-
I can genuinely say right now there is no manager better than Howe for us. I can also ensure you if we continue to let him manage the team, then no matter what, next season we would likely have a top 6 finish again. The big IF is I ain’t sure he could survive this season. Both Howe and the team looks completely broken to be honest. He might as well take the decision himself
-
Then change the approach to plan B. I am fine with that. Just don’t continue the plan A when we don’t have the fresh players to carry it out anymore
-
I would go further and say he should play youngsters like Alex Murphy or Sanusi, if he still prefers the team to play high intensity pressing football. You need fresh players to carry out your tactics. Another approach is to change to plan B, if any
-
If Gordon is so tired that he can only start jogging after 60 mins, we may as well sub him off and play Ritchie / youngsters like Sanusi, who at least is willing to run and keep the team in shape You definitely can feel that Howe’s not thinking sensibly. It’s like he cannot accept his plan A is not working (even though it’s not his fault) and keep doing the same thing, playing the “best players available” and trying to sneak a win to proof everyone’s wrong. And then the problem get worsen and worsen. Just like what TCD said. I am genuinely disappointed by his handling approach towards the crisis this season. He could have done a much better job to prevent it, or easing it. In fact some of us have been saying we will have trouble back as early as late September. Yet Howe simply continue his approach full-throttle and crash it in the worst possible way. No matter you are still fully supporting him for the job or not, you should be disappointed, rightfully.

That’s the spirit

you can learn and apply how to prevent fatigue NEXT season, not now. The damage has been done for long and nothing you can do, except begging for more transfer fund
-
Come on the result is expected. No need to bump this thread. Are people seriously think we can beat the scousers when we are in such a bad form?
-
It would be Jose Mourinho. His contract is ending, his work at Roma has finished, his relationship with Saudis, and his record re trophies. Not that I want him here instead of Howe. I want Howe to learn his lesson and make a comeback. Just that if he is unable to do so and got the axe, I can see the Saudis to go for Jose
-
I think there are in fact two questions: 1. Should Howe be sacked? I think pretty much 99% people here would say no fucking way 2. Will Howe be sacked? Now that’s the tricky part. Look at the fixtures. We could lose all games in January including the Sunderland cup game. The next realistic 3 points would be from Luton. My genuine prediction is IF we lose all games including that Luton league game, Howe will be sacked.
-
I think people in general underestimated the impact of “fatigue” on the effectiveness of Howe’s plan A tactics. We all had given huge praise to Howe, especially on his ability to bring out the best of our players. Players like Almiron is, genuinely speaking, just relegation team standards. The reason why he can play so well under Howe is because Howe makes a system that, if every players are willing to run and cover as a team, maintain a very high intensity of pressure, then we can beat teams with players much better than ours. What if the players are unable to keep their work rate and coverage on the pitch? The answer is out there already. Fucking obvious. Yesterdays Woods third goal - yes he did make a good run but, why would that pass happen in the first place? Look at the space we gave to their defenders. That’s the result of fatigue. We simply cannot run the tactics after 30 mins. Whether you want to blame Howe or Lady Luck or not it’s up to you. To me, if the system simply doesn’t work with a fatigued squad, then either change it or use fresh players. I would even give it a go to use reserves / youth players as long as they can run for 90 mins.
-
I expect the “how dare you guys question Howe” stuff will pop up tomorrow, not today
-
That’s why we shouldn’t go for every game with our shorthand squad. when the whole team is fatigued we are done. Like now
-
I think we will lose 0-2. Hope I am wrong
-
He has a lot of credit in his bank, and genuinely speaking injuries are something that he cannot control entirely. However I do think he could do better in squad rotation and keep the team in a better condition. I hope he learnt the lesson and, together with better resources available next season, be able to avoid the same mistake. Crashing out of the death group is fine. Making the squad at such a bad condition is not. Seriously I don’t think we can win any game with our current form, and it’s not because of his tactics, it’s because the whole squad are half dead. I would be genuinely disappointed if we crash out like that again NEXT season.
