I don’t know, if Spurs willing to let him go at a cut price deal like 25/30m, I genuinely think the club will go ahead since he fits in that criteria. That article simply means we have no choice at the moment and need to go for “promising” youngsters.
-
I think he will renew. Just like Botman - advised by his agent as that’s the best and only option left.

I find it really odd to say the reason for this seasons failure is due to bringing in too much first team players. 1. So instead of we are short of players, we are in fact having adequate or even abundant squad depth? 2. So in order not to repeat it, we shouldn’t bring in many players this coming summer? Which is almost opposite to what we cry for nearly the whole season I.e. the squad is not good enough and we need a rebuild / overhaul? 3. And did we really change that much? May be I am wrong but I don’t think we did? The only one playing regularly is Thiaw right? May be we will have a very quiet summer which no ins and outs then? Might not be a bad idea since I think the current squad is good enough for top 6 finish, if Eddie is back to his best. I just find it odd.

Contrary to a lot of people here (and my personal wish) , I think he will stay, mainly because we won’t receive the fees we wanted and Howe doesn’t want him to go. Yea I know the latter one sounds crazy but base on his recent quote it sounds like Howe wants to have an unchanged squad for next season. Very likely he won’t want a new ST.
-
Which is exactly my point. If Gordon can be easily replaced, why not just start Barnes? Barnes also cost us 40m.
-
See the above explanation. We ain’t simply asking for a winger that is technically better than Gordon
-
Gordon is not a world beater, far from that. The problem is he is already the most technical winger we have had, which means he has to do a huge lot of stuff under Howe’s current setup, because he is the only one who can do it, both physically and technically. I said Barnes would have problem to fill in the role, which was proven again this year when he started at LW/LM. He simply did nothing there. I don’t think we can replace him. It’s possible, or you could say easy, to sign a winger that is technically as good as Gordon. But if you also need the winger to be physically strong enough and do all the works assigned by Howe, then no. I can’t think of anyone that we can realistically sign this summer, unless our scout can unearth a fucking gem out from nowhere. Wingers like ASM doesn’t fit Howe’s requirement. Still remember those debate?
-
I simply don’t think we can sign a replacement that can do his job for the team.
-
You can say Eddie deserves the chance but you really can’t ignore the huge risk behind this decision. I mean, no one wants Eddie / the club to fail. None. We all hope it works. We just can’t ignore what has happened this season and say this is a decision without risk.
-
That’s potential goal of the season. We are unlucky
-
So what’s the excuse for starting Burn over Hall this time?
-
Well you can argue that it’s the PIF that tell him no major rebuild is allowed. Howe has no choice but to find excuses for PIF. Who knows.
-
Not first choice target is not a valid reason imo. How many clubs out there can always get their first choice target?
-
I don’t deny that, massive for us as well, which is why I doubt the elite clubs would consider that as massive. For mid table teams that is massive. Howe would have no problem to get a job for Brentford / Everton etc. Just like Moyes.
-
Do you really think the elite club would consider these as some marvellous achievement that can ignore his downside shown twice in EPL? If silverware is all it matters, Emery should have a glorious career even after his failure at Arsenal. It took him a long time before being considered as a elite coach again, and yet you can see not all the elite clubs are after him now. Back to your question. To us of course it’s a huge success. No question about that. To those elite clubs? I ain’t sure.
-
No elite club would accept a manager / head coach that are proven that he needs extra-long time to turn the corner after a ridiculous losing run - and this is assuming that we really give him time. Bournemouth relegated and he simply walked. If we sacked Howe (which I don’t want to see) he would be a manager that failed twice.
-
All other teams have their own problem as well. With all things considered, still, no manager would survive after such a run. None.
-
Again why judge Nick base on the plan A ST requirement? Oh yea we must have a fucking great record when playing Gordon and Osula because they can run faster? Cant you guys be more creative and sensible than this? Putting the blame on Nick as if he is the reason why plan A fails? Is it? it’s not a coincidence that the Howe In starting XI are the ones that attack Nick most. Fuck off man. Nick should not be the scapegoat
-
Thats exactly the myth to me. People judging the ST position by Howe’s plan A requirement. But does the plan A work? No, for a fucking long time. Then why set the criteria like that?
-
If football is so simple that if you run faster and stronger you are the better player then Messi won’t be the GOAT. And we won’t be humiliated by Barca.
-
WTF are you smoking? Playing a ST at midfield and make both the player and the team suffered is not mismanaged?
-
It’s not related to Howe. It’s simply unrealistic. Imagine you are a manager at work. Now your boss (me) said your past approach doesn’t work and I tell you to hire a new guy, reporting to you, that he has to have a different approach, and his responsibility is to “give you new idea”. Even if he disagrees with what you’re doing, you need to listen and trust him. you think this is realistic?
-
I think everyone got to understand if we continue like this despite spending a fortune this summer, we will relegate next season.

So the last few meaningless matches become meaningful again
