Best and Ba are obviously in on merit at the moment, Ba grabbed the headlines as well as Jonas but Best put hell of a shift in out there. I really liked the way he retained the ball. It was a great way to relieve pressure, especially in the 1st half. I too would have liked to see HBA come on for Obertan but can understand why Pardew didn't make that change.

Ryan Taylor has really turned things around. Like most on here would not have batted an eyelid had he been moved on in the summer but has been great so far this season. Nailed on for most improved player at the moment. No doubt if Santon is to come in I hope its for Simmo. Showed some balls yesterday as well. Was battered by Walters and Huth and played on. The header when Huth attacked him was brave as!!

We've passed every "test" put in front of us. This whole "haven't been tested" stuff is just rubbish. Are QPR having a better season than us because they have been "tested" by Chelsea. That's how stupid some of the media are. Are we all of a sudden a better team than Chelsea because they have "failed" their "tests" We are where we are on merit, yes the next few fixtures look tough but surely thats what the Premier League is all about. Its really hard to believe how anyone can think that Cattermole is better than Tiote, I can a little understand that they think Gardener is better than Cabaye as very few people know much of him and Gardener scored a load of goals last season but to say that most of their team is better than ours is a joke. Had it not been for a total capitulation against WBA we would have finished higher than them last season, but there you go I am a believer of the league table doesn't lie, so we'll have to give it to them for last season, but I'd be very suprised and hugely dissapointed if they finished above us this season. On paper they are probably one of the poorest sides in the league. Wigan Blackburn QPR Would not mind seeing Sunderland finish 17th, but they'd probably turn that around as being a positive and celebrate them staying up. I think derbies are good for football so I still want the Tyne/Wear derby to happen. But, I would not shed any tears if they were relegated.

Rooney had a few lay offs in the past how many reserve games has he played? Van Persie - how many reserve games, I guess not too many. I think many managers protect their marquee players as much as they can, so see reserve games as a risks they are not willing to take. As some mentioned earlier Marveaux is getting 10 minutes here and there during a game where as Ben Arfa is getting more playing time. But yes lets call possibly/probably our most talented player a bad egg and ignore that players of his ilk rarely play for the reserves.

I think in the past we may have rushed to give him some playing time but our good start have enabled us to bide our time with him. Hopefully he'll get some playing time on Saturday against Wigan, a start in the cup against Blackburn then he should be ready for a start, unless Obertan's form picks up?

I don't think it would be that difficult to replace him, I'm not a Simmo hater and don't think he's nearly as bad as some make out. At the moment though I would be happy to bring Santon in instead of Simmo rather than Taylor. To be fair to Taylor although no world beater has been ok at LB this season and his performances regardless of the goals have been better than Simmo's!

So far this season he's been more impressive than Simmo even taking away the free kicks. I'd be happy enough for Santon to come in at LB and Taylor to move to RB.

I still wonder why Nolan got pushed. Was it Pardew wanting a new kind of team and identifying that Nolan can't run? Or was it just the board wanting a high earning influencial dressing room player off our books? Fair play to Pards if it were his decision, that would be a brave decision to make. I think its clear Nolan woouldn't be getting in our first choice team this season, I wonder how much a positive influence he would have been having to sit on the bench most weeks?

Its so difficult to compare players in different era's. Could Maradona/Pele hack it in today's game as they were back then? We just don't know. All we can judge players on is what they did in their era. Maradona and Pele were the best of their era. Messi is the best now. For me they are all in the same bracket. Messi has still abit to do to live up to the reps of Maradona and Pele as they have both won World Cups. Telentwise I believe he is as good as them. In years to come he will be mentioned in the same teir as Pele/Maradona/Beckenbeur(Sp?)/Cruyff (sp?)/Zidane etc

I know football fans can wear club coloured glasses at times but some of the shite they come out with is cringeworthy. I can't believe someone on there said they have better players in every position compared to us. Fuck me fair play its you expect a bit of bias but every player? We know we've made a great start albeit with a tidy schedule but its important to get points on the table. As much as I love HBA and dislike Rooney they cannot be compared at the moment. Apart from a few dips in form Rooney has been amazing since he first played Premiership football. Its easy to dismiss Rooney because he can be a bit of a dick and doesn't have the technical ability of the likes of Ronaldo/Messi/Iniesta etc but from the Premiership he'd be one of the first names on my team sheet. HBA has a long way to go for the same kind of impact.

I'm not as much as a Ashley hater as some on here and have given him the benefit of the doubt many times. I'm as happy as anyone with our start BUT there is no way Ashley is winning us over. People accuse Ashley haters of being knee-jerkers and they should wait and see, but that article is kneejerk-tastic. I hope this form continues but I have no expectation of what Fat Mike will do in January, I just hope he gives Pardew money for a good striker and some back up players.

They'll be confident after beating Arsenal last week and have a decent record against us, so I'm not quite as confident of the win. Things have been going well so far, just waiting for the fall now. Would love the see HBA start but going on what has been said I doubt it, but what a sub to have. The run out in the week would have done for his match fitness wonders as well.

We would be right up shit creek if Pardew walked. He is widely seen as Ashley's man much moreso than any of our other managers under Mike Ashley. He is seen as a friend of Ashley's who was given the job because of that friendship, if he walked away that would be curtains for any decent manager wanting to manage us. I am sure Pardew has been led up the garden path by Ashley as well as others before him, but he seems a strong character and I can't see him walking. It does not benefit anyone if he walks. He has done an ok job since taking over in a difficult situation, I am not a big fan of his but he deserves some credit, he is between a rock and a hard place regarding transfers. I am sure he would love to had a striker in yesterday, but he's not exactly in a position to cause a fuss about it. I am sure that he will stick up for the board and come out with a load of bull re: trying to sign players, but I still blame Mike and Dezza for putting him in that position.
