Newcastle United vs Manchester City - 06/05/12 @ 1:30pm (live on Sky)
The College Dropout replied to JH's topic in Football
Must win for both sides. We should aim to nick it whereas City will look to dominate and get a comfortable lead. So exciting. -
He's scoring a goal a game at the moment. So obviously he's going to rank at pretty much the top. I think only a few of his goals could be described as clear cut chances. WBA springs to mind. Most of the others have decent/half chances. We thought Obafemi Martins was two footed. This guy's a beast. Takes them early and strikes them true, not hard but true. At first you think "did he mean that?" Because the technique is so excellent it can look jammy. We are talking world class finish after world class finish.

Unbelievable. Each goal was like "WAIT, WHAT?!" just shocked. The first was just so quick and lethal. The second....... hit that.... outside of the right foot... mad curl. Amazing. 1 left. 1 right. NO MALO.

Every time we've "gone to attack" away from home from the off we've had our arses handed to us. If everyone's fit. Fergie for Ba and we go to counter-attack. -

You can tell the fouls get to him. It's the reason he lashed out at that Brighton bruiser. He's gotten away with a few himself though. -

Hart is an excellent keeper. Ashley Cole is still up there in fullbacks. Rooney's class too. But look down the spine apart from Hart. The rest either haven't turned up for England, getting on or inexperienced. You can't get a consensus on the CB's/CM's/ST's pairings. And if you do it consists of Terry (who has always been over-rated), Parker who isn't good enough & Rooney who will miss a couple games and isn't as good for England either. -

Agreed. Guthrie better in a 4-4-2? GTFOH!!! He hasn't got the legs for it against other good midfielders. -

Not that I think Smalling/Terry et al are any better. But I really can't see the first 2 making it for another tournament and the youngsters need experience. You look at the number of caps some of the young Germans have in comparison with the English ones and the difference is massive. The experience has made them better players. -

I wouldn't take anyone who won't go to the next WC. That's no Ferdinand & Lampard as a minimum. -
London 2012: Mexico win Olympic football gold

We don't even celebrate St. George's day. I don't feel any particular identity with England tbh. There's literally 3 things that make me think in terms of England, and it's mostly sports sides filled with wankers. -

Am I the only one who would prefer we had British football team rather than the individual countries? -

He gets rotated a lot. But aye, he's a better defender and is equally adept going forward. -
Luckily, only 3 sides could sign our players in the PL.

Will we qualify for the Champions League? Sadly not...

Have you seen Spurs run in? Blackburn are dreadful. If B'burn where at home you'd have hope but away, at worst it's a point. Same with Bolton, fighting for their lives but genuinely terrible. Aston Villa - so poor under McLeish and riddled with injuries whilst getting nothing from players like N'Zogbia & Ireland/Gabby. Fulham are poor away and have nothing to play for either. Even with such poor form, there's 7 easy points their. Norwich & QPR were also easy games. Every game is solid as f*** when you're in bad form. QPR have looked very handy at home recently. Brilliant victories against L'pool & Arsenal in the last few weeks, I fancied them to win it yesterday. Norwich was a very bad result but they have been a good team this year. You mention bad form, the teams they face are in a similar rot with less quality! We are talking bad teams, in bad form the perfect mixture. Every week is huge but if they beat Blackburn there is no reason why they can't win the rest. -
I reckon only Modric would leave if they don't qualify though.

No point in looking beyond the Wigan game. Anything but a win and you wouldn't bet on us. So yeah, let's focus on the next game. -
Sturridge is a better finisher and a more instinctive striker but Welbeck is the superior team player. Welbeck's had a better football education.

Immense again today. There's a lot of legs in that midfield trio. -
Hopefully not, he's overrated as owt. Receives too much criticism for me. There's not 2 RW's better than him that are English. That's not praise for him, that's just the dearth of English talent now. I'd rather have Adam Johnson and The Ox myself. Johnson's rep has gone up as he's sat on the bench. Don't see why all 3 shouldn't go. Throw in Young and we have our wide players sorted.

Different types of players really. Walcott's a strict winger who tries to get to the edge of the area for the drag back. Ox looks to get inbetween the lines more.

Nice to have real footballers in the team such as Davide. I'm talking technique, first touch, short passing, movement. Colo & Santon could play in Stoke's central midfield.
