It does seem like for some reason this is more popular than ever. It’s looked to me for some time the best route against a lot of modern keeper. I remember when Vicario first came to the league he looked shakey with anything on top of him. As do most keepers tbf

Yeh he’s slow. But he does his defensive work diligently, he’s aggressive and brave. He does like to hold the ball and it leads to sticky situations which he escapes or buys a foul 95 times out of 100. Yeh he’s ball striking when shooting is unconventional. Yet he’s got more goals in the PL over the last 2.5 seasons than players with rocket launch shots like Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandes, Rodri (take the last 2 fit seasons), MacAllister, Szob, Gravenberch. I can’t actually think of any CM in the league (who doesn’t play as 10 at all) who has more goals than him in the PL going back 2 full seasons. If he had Tonali’s top speed he would literally be the best central midfielder in the world. This is why I still think he’s under rated. Tonali apart he’s leagues ahead of any other CM we’ve had. Levels above. As great as Tonali is - Bruno is the playmaker - the pure footballer. Only behind Shearer. Lift another trophy and he goes #1. 🧑‍✈️ 🫡

That’s how load management works. Once you approach red zone or high fatigue -let’s say 85%. Once you get there a small rest gets you back to 70% and you can continue for another few weeks. Small rest and go again. He might be doing more minutes overall but the minutes back off when he’s fatigued so he’s not playing through high levels of fatigue at any point. Compared to last season no European football sure. But come Feb - he’s at 95%. He gets a week to rest but then he’s playing 90 minutes non stop week in week out. Permanently camped in the red zone and at low physical and mental performance.

What are the weaknesses? Hes slow and doesn’t win headers in midfield. That’s about it. He runs all day. Tactically disciplined. Progresses the ball. Creates. Scores. Battles. The only CM near him in my lifetime is Tonali. The only thing Tonali is considerably better than a Bruno is being quick.

That still has an impact. His minute are being managed. The previous 2 seasons he was playing every game 90 minutes if ot was competitive.

Because he’s been rested. He’s played damn near every minute for 3 years. A little rest here and there has helped him. He’s only behind Shearer for me.

I’m glad people are seeing that this lad is not better than Nick Pope. When Pope is back in the side we should give him some grace. Saying that. I do think Ramsdale should improve. Dubs of last year was better than he’s been in years. I don’t think Ramsdale is confident yet. He needs a game where he makes a few good saves and claims a good few crosses.

Not me. I certainly don’t think our squad is as good as theirs Jan-May last year. I personally don’t think this squad is top 5 + competing in CL good.

A lot of us need to accept him for what he is and hope for the best. Yep he’s technically below average. Yep his footballing IQ seems bad. He’s not the long term answer for the position. But he has skills and abilities that we need to help him harness. He has the capacity to contribute well. Today sounded like a step in the right direction.
