Agreed. The Liverpool way and all that but it's actually true. They keep it more and the ground now aye but never a long ball team under Dalglish. It was mostly the crap signings that got him the chop. I think Rodgers is highly over-rated. They're not much better than they where last year with a Suarez in blistering form. They won't finish in the top 4 within the next couple years.

As blatant a penalty you'll see all year.

Sagna with a brain fart.

I'm not sure, we might represent the best chance for him to stay in the PL. Listen to his interviews. He wants to win trophies. He wants to be back where he was 5-6 years ago. I do rate Benitez highly but I do get a sense that he's "yesterday's man". Sacchi didn't achieve very much after '94 and I feel something similar with Benitez. While still a good manager, he's not the great one of 10 years ago.

Benitez is a top-notch manager. To think otherwise is ludicrous. And you'd be hard pressed to call us anything but a project after this season, regardless of whether or not that's true. I didn't mention his skill as a manager, just his personality. His personality tells me he would never come here under Ashley. Aye fair point. Though I get the feeling that most top-flight managers are self-centered control freaks, whether they're class (Benitez, Ferguson) or garbage (Pardew, Hughes). A lot of managers on the continent are used to being "head coaches". They have a say in transfers but they're not in 100% control. Benitez is not one of them.

Been clear for at least a year now that he's a liability. People are quick to forget that Arsene's still the second best manager in the league.

That figures. The bloke who was trying to peddle Gareth Bale when he was manager at Spurs. Is that what you have drawn from his time at Spurs with Bale? Imbecile.
-
Benitez is a control freak who feels he deserves a real top club. With no real top club after him, I expect he'll want a "project" with lots of money and control. Or at least control.

Honestly wouldn't mind Harry Redknapp.

Yeah it's over for Zanetti. Great career.

IMO like Sunderland we need a new manager. Someone within the existing system will have no effect.
-
Worst case in either event: relegation. Just as likely with either scenario. Best case with sacking: Di Canio type comes in. At the moment we couldn't even et Brucey. Best case with sticking: find a long term successor to Pardew to take us forward from next season.
-
It's too late in the day. Not really enough time for anyone decent to come in. It's clear Sunderland had Di Canio lined up a couple weeks in advance of sacking Marty as e got the chop after losing to Man Utd. I know we have nobody lined up with even less time left. And even still, S'land were just as likely to implode as they were to improve. For us the odds are even worse. I'd much rather we start take a long term look at Pardews replacement. Work over the next few weeks Nd mints to bring in someone we have vetted extensively. We spend a long time looking at our transfer prospects. We should do the same with our managers.
-
Don't want him gone right now tbf. No point.
-
The regime backed Pardee heavily in January. We've been even worse as a result. He's a dead man walking. They won't think finishing behind the likes of Fulham will be acceptable. Pardew will have till Christmas at the most. But I expect him hone by June.

Amazingly, Cisse's game is more intelligent than Martins ever was.
-
Very good? No. Better than the league position? Yes. Shouldn't be behind Sunderland, Fulham, Stoke, S'hamptom etc.
-
Nice.
-
Bloody Spurs man.
-
It did. Are you totally forgetting last season where we actually did play Demba out wide and Cissé central or something? You know, that season where we finished 5th?
-
Lacks pace does Jarvis.

You're talking in circles Wullie. I didn't say any of what you claim. "Greedy Demba" was his name. Look up the Demba thread, earlier on in this thread or in match day threads. Many people said Ba/Cisse swapping positions would improve the quality of the overall team play. To me, that never made sense. I always maintained there's nothing in Cisse's game to suggest results/performances would get better with a simple switch and that has proved to be the case. They haven't swapped positions though. You're arguing against something no-one said. I don't need to look back through old posts to know that not one person on here said "We should sack Ba off and play Jonas as a wide forward instead" What? People claimed Demba - wide, Cisse up top = better results and football. Demba ended up sacking us off and we replaced him with a player more suited for that wide forward role and Cisse has gone up top. We still suck. Despite having a much improved team imo.

TRon you are an imbecile. I have clearly explained to you why your question is facile yet you continue?
