They bullied us for Clark and even sold him for a profit.
-
Would love him here with an option. Saying that - he's never been as prolific as Wissa was last season
-
They bully the likes of Fulham for their youngsters. Barely play them, sell them for 5x a few years later. Their own HG get sold with a premium too.

He's going to Spurs? I would've liked him here. I really liked him in the WC.

Fee is whoa but I like Wissa a lot.

Your argument doesn’t make sense. If Levy didn’t make a deal that summer, they would have seen arguably their best player in the modern era leave for free. We don’t know what would’ve happened if we stuck to our guns. All we do know is we (a) would have got closer to our asking price or (b) kept a player with 3 years left on his contract. We’ll never know because we folded at £125/130m. Wwve repeatedly seen a levy stick to his numbers for selling players. I blame the club to some extent for Isak’s behaviour. Duppy know who fi frighten.

This is a great deal and fee. I assume he will start there. Love this.

We weren’t in a weaker position. Spurs had a: - 30 year old striker - 12 months left on his contract - he had wanted to leave publicly for years - No European revenue to offset any loss in fee - Spurs are run for real profitability. Not PSR profitability but the real stuff - 1 buyer - low resale value for the buyer - previously refused to train in a prior window They got £20m more than Chelsea got for a 28 year old Hazard 2 years earlier. You say they were in a stronger position because they don’t need the PSR headroom. But spurs never have any intention of being close to their PSR position because they are run for profit. We had a: - 26 yo - 3 years left on the contract - 1 buyer (for this window, time enough on his deal to get another) - not training and insisting we want to leave - no short term PSR shortfall apparently There’s every possibility this could’ve been handled better. The entire way through.

This should actually work in our favour. PIF steadily with Liverpool players above market rates and will continue to do so. Do they use this to our advantage? No. They could have even inflated the Nunez fee further on the understanding they would inflate the Isak fee. No need. FSG outmanoeuvred PIF at every turn.

Spurs have no intention of spending their PSR limits. Spurs business model is to make actual money. Spurs personally enriches Levy. If they didn’t sell Kane in that window they would have got max. £30-50m in January and that’s with a desperate buyer. They had to sell him in that window. Only had 1 buyer. And they got their fee. You’re giving Levy no credit for being a tough seller.

Sorry didn’t explain the term. It means a ghost knows exactly who to scare. Bullies know who they can intimidate and who they can’t. Strong people and institutions don’t get bullied - people rarely try because they know they won’t suceeed. ‘He can do that to them over there because he knows they are weak. He wouldn’t try that over here, he knows better’. Look at how disjointed the club is. Look how PIF are desperate to pay big fees for Liverpool flops. NUFC isn’t life or death for them. Let’s push them. I reckon they fold.

You think Levy let Kane think he would be sold for anything less than his asking price at any point? He said he would only sell at £150m to City and he meant it. Kane missed a week of training. He said he wanted £100m the next year (or the year after) - 1 year left on the contract. He got it. You guys ever hear the term ‘duppy know who fi frighten’? People wont admit but that’s a major part of it.
-
30-40% - I’m including the fee too. I manage people and contracts into the millions but obviously not to this degree (will log off here now and so some work). If in a similar situation I would think we’ve made several mistakes. With Isak, with Liverpool, in the transfer market for strikers. Over like 18 months. It’s the joining of the dots. Thats Ashworth and Staveleys strengths. We lost that with Isak and then not negotiated well afterwards. Isak obviously takes the majority because he’s driven everything. Acted terribly - beyond what you could imagine. Ita true that you won’t find many players willing to burn down their legend in this manner. But to even attempt scorched earth you would think it would work and it did. Players don’t go scorched earth with Levy because they know it won’t work. He doesn’t give them the space to think it will work.

Wissa or JSL for £50m+ isn’t a flex though.
