If Forest Villa and Palace had lost? damn
-
Never heard of the team Palace went life and death with. Give me any European football. Conference win that. Europa win that. Thats England pretty much guaranteed 5 CL spots this season now right?

When was the last time YAR attended a game?

Major weapon against super high lines - aye

Agree with all of this. I think fundamentally the PL will see Liverpool and Arsenal through with City and Chelsea knocked out by Real and PSG and think ‘fairs’. Us getting booted by Barca without our Owners at the game is probably what the PL want from us. Put us in our place. Our stars auctioned off to the PL and European elite. There’s genuine questions about going with that approach knowing we have tired legs. I also think it’s ok for people to feel a little embarrassed. I was looking at the time and praying it wouldn’t get to 10 on the night or on AG.

Exactly. It was a high risk approach and he should’ve went damage control earlier. But it had benefits. The penalty and set pieces were poor. But the style was always going to expose the defence.

We played Willock/Joelinton there the season prior mostly + had Gordon as a marquee type signing Neither Almiron or Murphy were considered good enough. Anyway overall point stands. Even if I take your view. Barnes came into replace someone who spent most of the prior season on the bench. He’s never meant to have been an automatic starter. Elanga was the king overdue RW. Meant to be a starter and a marquee signing. And he’s a worse footballer than Barnes. Arguably not an improvement on Murphy.
-
It’s the running balls out of play under minimal pressure. Looking like he doesn’t know how/who to press. Biggest factor is Elanga isn’t as good as people hoped. Not even close. And Barnes is better than people hoped. And Barnes was signed to fight for a first team place. But he wasn’t a marquee signing. At the time he was viewed as a bit of a luxury. Ppl wanted a RW more and we didn’t get it. We didn’t get it for another 2 years. And then we got Elanga. That’s underwhelming.
-
Agreed. It was brave but ultimately naive. And waited too long to try and keep the score down. I will say we could’ve been more responsible and still lose 4-5 without laying a glove. But punching yourself out isn’t it.

It’s not the be all but it’s a massive reason I’ll never fully be able to take to him as a footballer. Such poor fundamentals. But this is a game he can be proud of him. Such a massive shame for him you can’t walk off with pride due to the score.

Reckon there’s a good loan market for him
-
Been so disappointed with him and Muani. Feel like Muani would score loads in a Howe team
-
He’s better than I expected and I’m delighted about that.

It was saved.

Win watching this Liverpool game. Feels a lot more like a CL game than ours. Ours was unbelievable first half. End to end.

Saved.

Did any major PIF big wigs attend the Barca games?
