I said that in my first line. The benefit is purely financial not sporting.

Aye co-efficient is now about money only.

Is it not lik the CL where seeeding doesn’t matter m?

That was criminal. I mean Eddie was on that -
It’s just point 3 that has value imo. Point 1 isn’t really true. Players leave CL sides in Europe to join mid table prem teams all the time. Point 2 doesn’t help us - it just helps the opposition actually. Everyone plays clubs from all seeds. Us being a higher seed just helps the clubs we are facing. As currently we are one of the most difficult lowest seed clubs in Europe.

I agree with this. Where I give a lot of credit is the team were fully motivated and didn’t play like there was a bigger game in 4 days. Thats exactly how Chelsea played. No intensity. The defending from Fofana is awful. I’ve not seen a Newcastle player do that all season. -
Good to get the ‘open play PL goal’ monkey off his back.
-
Helped that Fofana doesn’t even try to match it. I would be losing it if I was a Chelsea fan. But great desire from Gordon.
-
They were awful. For the goal and the match.

Aye. Such an interesting position he took up too. Garnacho was baby food for him. Feel like a saw a gesture that was like ‘nah I’m good to stay on’. Was a bit surprised he played the full game tbf

It was but it wasn’t. Chelsea didn’t play with much intensity but have talent so needed defending. -
Easy game for him today. Bossed it. He bounces back really well. He has that horror 45 minutes that one time, subbed at half time. Back the next game was it? Straight back to bossing it.
-
Worked his bollocks off. It was an unglamorous shift. He’s played a lot of minutes too.

They were really really shit. We beat them because we turned up and they didn’t. That’s an unforgivable performance from them. -
Didn’t think he was spectacular but he played well. His pace and aggression is excellent and he was solid on the ball. Great determination for the goal. Ran past the Chelsea defender to score it. Gordon wanted it, he didn’t. That attitude was the difference between the sides.
-
His ability to get up and down at speed is impressive.
-
He’s getting minutes which is good and he’s able to do a solid job.
-
Tbf Chelsea played like they were winning all game
-
We won that because of Howe. Our lads had a plan and were motivated. Chelsea and their manager didn’t look arsed all game.

Right process. Willocks chance was 60/40, Gordon’s was 95/5. James wasn’t particularly close to him either. Slowing down gave Gordon the open goal. -

No Willock made the right decision with the assist. Excellent run too. Give him credit. -
