In his first part season he got the Europa League final. In his first full season he qualified for the CL which was the aim of that season and was massive progress. Within 18 months he showed clear progress. Linear progress year-on-year for 5 years. A good job for Potter this season is finishing in the top 4. Depending on how the team looks - they may give him grace for finishing 5th/6th but looking like he's building something.

Chelsea have won a dozen trophies in the last 10 years including 2 CL's, 2 FA Cups, 2 premier leagues, 2 europa leagues etc. Potter should get in on that. Most elite managers - a good career is spending 2-3 years at a top club and winning trophies while the going is good. Top managers don't need to have a career like Klopp or Wenger and spend 5+ years at a single club.

I think the bolded depends on the club but Chelsea is one of those where the cultural fit and ego management seems a massive component. It suits the A List type manager that understand you probaby get 24-36 months - your Carlo's, Conte's and Tuchel's. Funny thing is Tuchel is not the best at managing ego's but he's on the elite club merry-go-round anyway. He'll get results.

Aye. In England what are the other options? Pep & Klopp might leave but you're not going to do better than they did. Spurs? Conte will take them as far as is possible imo and the money might not be there. Otherwise that's a solid job. Chelsea is as good a job as any imo. He must take it.

I don't think this is true. With the right backing - 12 months is all a manager needs to make real progress. Often less. We've seen it with Howe, Chelsea saw it with Tuchel, Klopp, Pep, Conte. It doesn't take years and years with the right building blocks.

Tuchel's on the elite club merry-go-round. It's an Italian club next - probably Juventus.

Agree with the first point. But Potter should take the job. British managers don't often get a shot at the big time. He'll have the opportunity to win major trophies. If he does well for even 18 months - he'll get another shot at a big club, maybe one with more patience.

Lampard is just a bit more experienced. He’s probably the most PFM manager in the league. A really drab back 5 or a pretty negative 4 at the back but still can’t defend. He’s leaned into a team of hard runners and supposed good characters to drive them over 40 points. Which has value but is fairly basic. I can see Gerard following a similar route to try and be more solid. But lower mid table won’t be good enough for Villa like it is for Everton and there’s no Rafa or owner to blame. Gerrard does need to stop trying to be smart. Play a solid 11. His best team includes the likes of Bailey and doesn’t include Coutinho. He needs to take the L on that.

Random but the general level of coaching in the PL has improved a lot and the managers are a lot more progressive. From the 17 clubs from last season, someone liek Hassenhuttl might rank among the weakest 5 and he clearly has some talent

The Dubs thing was funny. He was a good shot stopper. But he was glued to his line and never sweeped up. And became weak at coming for crosses over time. The room for improvement was massive and Pope is that difference. Also in Pickford's (and to a lesser degree Ramsdale) defence - GK's that are actually good at kicking or on the ball in general is a rarity. All things considered - Pope should be second choice for England at worst. I think his calm temperant and style of play is better for England in a tournament than Pickford who comes across v. emotional.

Better in possession with his range of passing. Genuinely think Pope is better at everything else. Even other strengths of Pickford like coming off his line to sweep up.

With the toxicity in the club - that's not so straight forward. They need shot of Rodgers asap before a deep-rot sets in.

Rodgers needs to go. The job isn’t serving him and he’s just waiting for a payday. A new decent coach will get them midtable. They can’t get rid of the players so they’ll need to get rid of the manager.

Haven’t watched the game but this is the Type of fixture we were winning last season 1-0 in our good run. Also the type of fixture I feared we would drop points in without enough quality being brought in attacking and midfield areas.

The 4-3-3 is working a treat btw. Wouldn't change it.

As an inside forward who put in a tremendous shift up and down that wing. He also didn't score any goals playing there. Grafted his bollocks off though.

We've got smart people onboard here. One of the things we need to start to do next summer is - start upgrading our squad players. Pretty much every senior player we've signed has been for the XI. And getting rid of what we have. IMO we are 2 players away from a really good first XI. I hope we sign both in January, then that gives us half a season to see what the team looks like then. Long-term I don't think Isak is best placed as a right sided forward in a 4-3-3.

By the looks of it Anderson is considered a forward, consequently thee's a lack of depth at CM. Burn is first choice back-up at LCB & LB.
