remember our old man hoying you in the air at the winner- in the west stand paddock. My first game was a pre season friendly against benfica and the great Eusebio, the official opening of the east stand- remember being proper scared by the height. cant remember the year- round about 73ish. Supermac once told me Eusabio was simply untouchable in the game. I have faint memories of being taken to Joker park in the 70s as a kid- but my first proper away trip with mates and that was Carlisle nyd '84 3-1 loss on the way to promotion. except that friendly was 1971, i don;t think the east stand was built till 72/73. aye- so ive read- think my old man must have been mistaken when he said they were opening the new stand- still rekons he took me to thwet friendly. did you see in the earlier thread, i have the prog from that friendly. I need to find out what pre season friendly it was opened. Says here it was partially opened in 1973. First home pre-season friendly after that was 1979 You can have Ollie Burton's testimonial v mackems in May 1973 if you like. Or Tony Green's testimonial v smoggies in May 1974 - I was big enough to go by myself by then, so I was actually in the East Stand for that one. Bobby Charlton played for us! Or Internacional from Brazil in March 1975 - they're a bit more exotic AND they play in red shirts and white shorts. ? I can choose? I always thought it opend in 74 tbh. Was deffo there when they opened the stand can remember it-being really scared of how high it felt and have very vivd memories of it being a brand new place. I was 6 in 74. but when I asked my dad the first game he took me to- he was adamant benfica friendly- so maybe he took me in the leazes- he took me in there mostly in the 70s. can also remember being taken to a match that wasnt sjp very young had to be roker or ayersome as we went in a car- not all day and the only memory I have is walking through terraced streets and a shed sort of stand from the outside. But that means you would have been 3 when Benfica came Childcare was very different in those days, like. there would be no surprise at my dad taking me to a match at 3 like its something ive tried to find out about for years- even to the point of e-mailing supermac to ask him. i just assumed someone was mixed up about the dates. My youngest went to her first game with me when she was 2 year old and there's a couple of people bring what are literally babes in arms to matches in Milburn Level 7 family enclosure now. aye- my 15yr old daughter changed her mind about going on thurs night, so i told my lass to get herself and our 20month old ready- but she was having none of it. And the changing their mind about going gets on my wick with having 2 girls like. One minute they're fighting over who goes (i've got one child tkt between them) and then others they aren't interested or change their mind just as i'm ready to go out. this is exactly why I take them to night games when theres cash turnstiles, did it all the way through the championship season- dont know who is going literally til we go out the door- not just football, it happens with meals, days out- even holidays, I should add I dont leave them behind- my oldest three live with my ex. Aye, but the only reason i bought a childs tkt in the first place was to save money. When Milburn Level 7 went family enclosure i could have stayed where i was on me tod or add a childs ticket for £100 less than i would have to pay for me on my own. Old gadgie next to me didn't renew when we got relegated so i kept my own seat and added a childs one for the seat next to me and saved a hundred quid whether it got used or not.

It's stupid really. Last sunday it was baltic and neither of my two went yet at half time when you literally couldn't get onto the concourse due to everyone cramming down there to get warm there was a bloke with what looked like a baby of no more than 12 months old wrapped in a blanket.

I read that earlier- i had also seen the prog on ebay- also had an email from supermac about the game- he rekons it was his first run out for us ,and Eusabio was unplayable- he also told me the east stand wasnt there. I need to find out what pre season friendly it was opened. The "New" Stand actually opened for an FA Cup tie against Luton Town in February 1973.

Thought Anita looked like a player who has missed a lot of games, very rusty. His 'tackle' was pretty bad and almost the only thing i remember him doing other than going off. Just before the tackle he was in space screaming for the ball from Tiote who was on the left and Tiote ignored him and went to the wing and the ball went out for a throw. Anita was slapping his hands together screaming across at them getting really frustrated. I must admit that at the game from my vantage point i thought it was a foul on Anita not the other way around but a lad at work who watched on tv said it was proper nasty by Anita.

Hi guys, one more Benfica supporter here. Feel free to ask me anything about us and Portugal. Btw, if you want to see the first leg live, you should get a flight to Porto, take a dump in their stadium (or just pee in the wall), take a train, stop in Aveiro (portuguese Venice) buy me a few beers and then to Lisbon. My mate and his son have already booked to fly from London to Porto and get the train to Lisbon. They did the same when we played Sporting lisbon in 2005.

Tbf, a lot of people on here probably think that as well The most reasonable (like me ) knows that will be difficult. But ofc we are confident, normally in stadium of light we do amazing games and if we get a clean sheet in the first leg we have all the advantage because normally we score at any stadium (Just check our past games). About the flights: Faro (Cheapest option) then by train\bus to Lisbon Lisbon (the airport is at Lisbon center so in 5 minutes you have a lot of cheap accommodation) What area of Lisbon is best to stay? It comes up with 6 options like Setubal and stuff Setubal ?! Man that's Mourinhos city of birth, fuck that! lol No serious, Setubal is very far. Just look here: http://www.booking.com/ The best place should be at Lisbon center. The site i use had options of Cascais, Ericeira, Estoril, Estoril Cascais, Oeiras, Setubal & Sesimbra. Which is the city centre? 3 days of Superbok is very appealing. Anywhere near Los Docas.

I'm in hospital getting a lump removed on the 3rd April, hopefully back home and on the sick on the 4th rather than at work and fretting over seeing a 6PM KO.

Rather the pricks didnt go to our games if thats what they do every Euro game tbh. Why bother? Same as the tossers who ran on the pitch for 3 games in a row or whatever it was. Aye, I was to the right of it. After I while I could smell it, some right special ones went last night. Europe has shown how many tosspots support us this year. Absolutely no need at all to do it every game. Can't understand how few regulars around last night. I'd imagine it will be all ticket from now on though with a much higher uptake by season ticket holders. I'm a season ticket but usually sit elsewhere in the ground on European nights especially whilst the ticket prices are so reasonable. I know quite a few do likewise. Same here. I only sat in my own seat for one or two of the earlier games and was surrounded by kids rather than the usual crowd. We've been picking random seats around the ground since then. As they don't usually open Level 7 Anymore i've not sat in my own seat for a cup tie for a number of years. I sat in the Platinum Club last night and also the same seat in there for the Metalist game. It's annoying though as the amount of people who come in late and leave early to go to the bar and wander around lost spoils the view of the game. i don't notice this as much in Level 7 possibly due to the position of my seat and the steepness of the stand compared to the lower bowl. It also seems to take ages to get out of both the east stand and the platinum club whereas i'm down the stairs and straight out onto Barrack road from Level 7 Milburn without getting stuck in the bottle neck under the stand. I saw the smoke above us last night but couldn't tell where it had come from. It had better not lead to us playing behind closed doors against benfica!!!!!!!!!!

They didn't like. Drew 0-0 at Parkhead and Benfica won 2-1 in Lisbon.
-
Barcelona beat them.
-
I saw that and it looks like they've already drawn 2 seperate pots and we will draw CFC, Spurs, Lazio or Fener???
