If we're going 4-3-3 then dropping Owen is ridiculous, he's by far the best suited player in our squad to playing in the hole. Lovenkrands in midfield won't happen either, and nor should it. I'd not be adverse to giving Smith a run but not as the holding midfielder, slap Guthrie there and let Smith play in one of the outside CM roles. I just wanted to fit Loven in I agree though. Guthrie would be better. Besides, we need more than 1 midfielder who can tackle Smith can tackle? Guth can sorta.

No I've hated the guy for years. He symbolises everything wrong with the club, ridiculous transfer fee, horrible wages, s***, "big name" waste of space. His ball retention is the only part of his game we see. Not seen him have a shot for a few matches. He holds us back when he in in a front two. he has the stupid problem of holding on to the ball waiting for movement instead of hoofing it into the box even if theres no-one there. Always looking for the runner. He looks at his best with Enrique tbh. I like him, but his play is limited as we all know.

Yeah, it's been annoying as f*** for years the way we've been all "they're too young like, let's let them waste away in the ressies, yaaaaaaaaay" I don't get where all that s*** comes from. Same with how youth coaches tend to look for tall strong lads and kind of neglect the smaller players. A problem for years that second bit. Why we lack real quality at international level. Youth football, pace, power, strength. Skill doesn't come into it. Kevin Keegan was nearly overlooked because of his height and size iirc. You need a good mixture rather than focusing just on one type of player. Centre backs you expect to be more powerful, taller, but some shorter centre backs have a far greater leap and reading of theg ame and this isn't always focused on. Shame really. Aye. I always said it but if messi was english he would have never got out of schoolboy level and be lost forever.
