What I meant by this. Ederson and their mid killed our pressing.
-
That’s what chasing the other team does. Our pressure was dominated by their ability to keep possessionz City has this ability to control the tempo and flow of the game. It’s ridiculous, how Ederson will absorb pressure, release the ball to Rodrigo/Kovacic that are being marked with players on their backs and they’ll play a quick pass to the CBs who then opens play out to the fullbacks and all we do is run and chase shadows. As soon as we realize we are a few years behind the best team in the world the better.

Feel as we sometimes (or at least tonight) lacked movement. He would recieve the ball and players would stand still apart from Almiron hugging the touchline 50meters from him. Dont feel he had the same problem tonight as he has had in the past such as against Villa last weekend where he would lose possession because he kept dwelling on the ball and took 5-10 seconds to release the ball. Tonight it just felt as he had absolutely no one to pass to at times.
-
We judging him on goals now or did I miss something earlier in the thread? I mean, he has probably scored more goals for us than in his whole pre-NUFC career. We didn’t sign him to be a top goal scorer, we signed him to become a top club in the PL, which we are right now and a lot down to him and Trippier.

Agreed, first 15 minutes in the 2nd half was shambles. Man City are just a fantastic side and Foden was fantastic tonight. At the end of the day 1-0 loss away at the Etihad to a fantastic goal has to be accepted. Even Europes top teams would accept a defeat like this.

Funny as Tonali had more passes and higher accuracy last weekend and we won 5-1… Bruno was also rightfullt our worst player last weekendZ
-
I feel as Tonali gets off as he is new signing. He did absolutely nothing tonight and was subsequently subbed off in the 67th minute. Had to check some stats and compared to Bruno he lost the ball more, had less touches, won less duels and passed it wrong more in 67 minutes of play. Thought he looked amazing last week, but the midfield trio looked outclassed tonight (they are a better side, so well drilled tactically) and that was a largely because neither Joe or Sandro really got going.
-
Most touches, most passes, highest pass accuracy, most duels won, most fouls won and yet he was poor to some. He wasn’t fantastic by any means, but he was one of our better (or less worse) players tonight imo.
-
Don’t agree with this, and if it was true I bet Tonali would’ve still been on the pitch towards the end.
-
Definitely our best midfielder, possibly best out of the front 6 along with Miggy (despite his decision making). We were playing the best team in the world and lost 1-0 through a fantastic goal
-
Completely agree. He did lose the ball a few times, but felt at times it was because the ball was played to him in very difficult circumstances unlike pre-season and last weekend where he would dwell on the ball for a year before losing it.
-
? Thought him and Joelinton couldn’t really find their footing at all tonight. City are just too good, they’ll bounce back next weekend though.
-
Thought he was poor last weekend, and while he had trouble tonight he was the only one really trying to match their midfield compared to Big Joe and Tonali.
-
Agreed.

City’s way of absorbing pressure and just play around it in two seconds if impressive. Most teams get fucked by our pressing, City takes the piss out of it.

Rooneys been done by someones calculator.

Estupinan to Mitoma. Mitoma to Estupinan. FPL

In Brazil, where betting has grown in the past year, over 10 players were done for spot fixing. Yellow cards, throw ins in certain minutes etc. I think it happens all the time and I know it does. In Sweden its been quite common in many sports for many years at the highest level as well. I think Paqueta if found guilty (I think its fair to say it seems absolutely obvious by the facts provided right now) should be banned for at least 2 years, but the only solution to the problem will be betting becoming illegal and that won’t happen. Also, in this specific case it seems bets were done in Brazil at a store (kind of contradicts the story of multiple accounts) by relatives to him. Maybe they were naive enough to think it wouldn’t be found out as it the bets and the yellow card were in two separate countries.
-
Do think there’s a higher requirement for evidence for criminal offence though, I think that is much more difficult. Wasn’t Xhaka freed a few years ago because they couldn’t prove he was involved in a max bet placed on him getting a yellow in the last 10minutes (which he got for complaining to ref)?
-
Seems as the bets were placed on an accumulator with another player based from Rio De Janeiro called Luiz Henrique that plays for Betis that also picked up a yellow card in the 89th minute for complaining the same day. He was dropped from the U23 national team because of the same reason. Both players also picked up a yellow on May 21 against Leeds and Sevilla respectively… Unless both were threatened with having their families kidnapped and killed (which would be the only half logical thing although more likely they thought because the bets were placed in Brazil they would be fine…), they will both be banned from football. In Brazil there has been similar cases lately with 2 years ban from football given and I think that would be the only fair thing to do although I wouldn’t mind a five year ban for disrespecting the sport.

Was confused as to your post. Joelinton was called up.
