  1. not sure on Erding but I believe Long could Ba Marveaux Ben Arfa A N Other Tiote Cabaye I can't see any other way to play Tiote AND Cabaye, anyone suggest anything? I still think this is going to be the formation. With one up front the three behind have to be mobile (Jonas - yes, Barton - not so much) and goalscorers (Jonas - no, Barton - reasonable) The bit in bold seems nailed on unless anyone can suggest something different I don't. Too adventurous. It will be 4-4-1-1, albeit a lot more fluid and mobile than we are used to watching.

Starts on p163. Goes on for a loooong read from there. It was Friday the 13th, wtf. You have to wonder wtf Skirge gets up to of an evening. I picture him there with 10 different monitors hitting refresh all the time.
  3. Quite neat.. with two young spratts I might get one myself. edit: fuck that, price £90

Because he is not a traditional forward and for the most part, in this context, people are thinking 'strikers'. But yeah, Barfa is going to be immense for us I am sure. Cabaye, Tiote, Barton, Ben Arfa & Ba, plus one of Marveaux & Jonas will make up out first-choice front 6 going by Pardew's comments. Could probably see us go for Long ahead of Erding anyway now because I reckon Long would be more inclined to wait for his chance in the first-team, plus lower wages, than Erding who would no doubt expect first-team football from the start in which case I can't see a role. I keep wondering if Jonas is being considered for a switch to the right, or at least considered as a versatile option. Could never understand the papers keep coming out with us looking at left mids when we have so many for that position, but right mid is thin as fuck.

Good plan. (We're going to rape them. In my dreams at least.)

As in bellend. Helmet's what covers the bellend, so - foreskin!
  11. Yup, not the time to gamble. Get it done.

Just pictured an ambulance crew trying to remove a mobile from a blokes rectum. Rectum. Not sure why I suddenly became all polite. (Might have something to do with Thomas, his little quote under his avatar.)

  14. But if they bid £10million or whatever the price tag is, then i don't think we will be in for him, sadly. The player still has a say in it though, you could theoretically bid 9m and the player refuses to go elsewhwere. /perfect scenario

Are you still thinking about putting that bet on? Definitely, if I ever get into a bookies and ask for a price.. what do you reckon it might be 10-1, 8-1?

Mimi says he could do it (10 goals) and more, so that's good enough for me.
  17. Good post. What's annoying me regarding the spending of the money is not that I believe it should be spent for the sake of it, but that I believe we are in an ideal position to push on and really make an impact in the Premier League this upcoming season. We did far better than most expected this time around, to me we should be building on that rather than merely consolidating. It's not like we just scraped survival. I believe the Carroll money gives us the perfect opportunity to bring forward any plans we had for pushing up the league in the future - assuming we had any. There is that too, I can't argue with it. If only those feckers would communicate genuinely with us and we could trust what they said. A push for Europe could definitely be on the cards with 3 or 4 more in the door.

How many strikers did you think we were going to sign this summer, 3? Think that's a bit optimistic for one transfer window. If we get one more to go with Ba I'll be satisified with that. Obviously I'd rather have more, but come on, it was never likely we'd sign 3 strikers. You'd be happy with Ba, Long, Ameobi, Lovenkrands - and one of Best/Ranger? Fuck, man. I'd be quite happy with Ba, Long, Best & Ranger, with Shola and Lovenkrands gone for good, but that's just me. Obviously I could be happier, but more importantly I could be completely pissed off.
  20. I think the biggest problem is people are having their expectations crushed. When Carroll was sold all we could do was console ourselves with the belief/hope that we now had £35m to play with come the summer. Now despite having made three potentially great additions to the squad we've, on the surface, not spent any money. We've been cheated! I'm certainly getting that feeling reading many of the posts - but, but, you have not spent any money!! Admittedly, as things currently stand, it looks like we will still be a bit light on quality in squad depth. Arguably we could/should complain about that. But personally I'm convinced we have a much stronger, not marginally stronger, first eleven. Two signings still to come, and personally I don't think Taylor is counted one of them but maybe he is. This keeping money for the January window is an appeasement statement no doubt about that, transparently so, and we have a right to mock it. As is the continued emphasis on the £35m as if there are no other revenue streams or income. We definitely have money available. Counting 1yr of a players (several players) salary as having come out of that Carroll money would certainly account for a fair whack of that money, but it can only be viewed as sensible or clever if in the future we are still competing where others no longer can. I can't predict the future nor am I much of an accountant or economist, but if I take the dim view that Ashley is just recouping his investment then I will be despondent, utterly despondent. So for my own sake I try and maintain a balanced view and consider the future can be brighter and rest easy for now on the fact that I can't wait to see how the new look Newcastle Utd play next season.

I think in HBA's case that cliche is totally justified. I won't be able to restrain the jizz when he waltzes through the Arsenal defence and opens our scoring for the season. It has all the elements of a cracking game, do you think it will be Sky's opener?
  22. If we sign Carlton Cole I will join Neil's signature.
