He wastes possession, putting even more pressure on us. He used to help us by carrying the ball up field and drawing fouls, but he hasn't done that at all consistently for a long time. As much as I'm still fond of him he's a liability now in any game, or has been for a while now IMO anyway. If he comes back with some kind of energy and form then he could be useful in some games, but at the moment we have better options.

quality-wise, no, nowhere near. in terms of character, motivation and energy we're miles behind sadly. It's like all our players are in purgatory, listlessly floating through a dense grey fog of ennui. Haven't seen much character, motivation or energy from Hull so far like.

I can see them struggling, because so far I think they're weaker than they were last year. Lukaku's a big loss and Anelka isn't going to come close to making up for it IMO. He was a top striker at one point, but he's 34 now and his goal record over the last couple of years is absolutely awful, 4 goals in his last 42 appearances (that includes 23 games in the Chinese league..).

Hope so, not sure West Brom have done much to suggest they're going to finish that high like. Wouldn't say their transfers have been ambitious in the slightest so far and for me they're weaker now than last season.

You're talking about how much money the club has. Well the new TV deal is yet to effect those finances. Saying its guarenteed doesn't make the cash apear and paying transfers in installments was one of the things that bogged the club down in crippling debt to begin with. Having said that I dont see why we shouldnt have some money to spend outside of spending future revenue now anyway. It seems we do unless you're one of these who believe all our bids are fake until the player signs.

If we were to spend £14m (what it would have cost to sign Bent and Downing) I'd rather spend that elsewhere. Saying, but we wont spend it elsewhere is a circular atgument, because if thats the case then Bent and Downing were never an option. Anyway like I said if I'm going to be annoyed about not signing players it'll be because we didnt bring in players like Gomis and Ince, not Bent and Downing.

Yep don't care how much anyone rattles on about Ameobi and Gutierrez (as if Bent would be Ameobis replacement and as if we dont already have better than Gutierrez..). If we dont bring in Gomis or someone of a similar type and quality I'll be annoyed about that, but I'll never be annoyed at ''missing out'' on Bent and Downing, quite the opposite.
