We've got tomorrow first. A win tomorrow and we should be confident. Given that Cabaye has been our talisman of late and is a leader amongst the group, added to seeing one of, if not, our best players leave it'll be interesting to see what sort of performance we turn in tomorrow. It's an easy excuse for all to turn in a half arsed display but at the same time it's a chance to do it for Yo etc. Depends what Pardew does. Will he move Sissoko into the middle and bring in Ben Arfa? Or will he leave Sissoko on the right and bring in Ameobi up front with Remy..

See everyone is happily accepting the lowest version of the fee, surprising like
-
Not sure why we'd make the fee sound higher than it is if we don't want to spend much, what would be the point?
-
You keep saying this, but whatever we spend on the direct replacement the amount we get certainly does matter for future transfers.
-
Maybe addons are the difference?
-
If its anything under £20m and they haven't got significant addons in their they've totally lost the plot. Well over two years on his contract and a world cup coming up, don't see why £25m is unreasonable.

Coloccini?

Want Cabella signed far more personally, not that I don't rate De Jong. Cabella is talented, but he'll get bullied in PL, he's skinnier than Neymar We'll see , hopefully EDIT: Hopefully we'll see not hopefully he'll be bullied I mean he might be less effective than De Jong at first (though he's hardly in great form) but he's a much more exciting signing going forward IMO.

A fairly average striker past his prime, so he'll be Sunderlands best forward.
-
Yep, discuss it with PSG and get an agreement that they will pay twice what it costs us for Cabella or they can get fucked. They can even wait while we tell Kinnear to get ready to be on the verge of phoning them for a quote if they like

I know its shit to see Cabaye go and Ashley's a cunt but ffs stop this trousering bollocks. Do you genuinely believe that the transfer fee will be reinvested in the club - the same way as the Carroll cash was? Yeah, as in probably not this window but long term (which is shit anyway, but I fear that's what will happen). Anything less would be even more stingy then Ashley has run us in the past. Have a look at transfers in and out since Carroll went and you'll see the outs even up with the ins. Basically as long as the club breaks even outside of transfers Ashley seems to run us as a break even on transfers as well, or that's how its been in the past.

No it was a fair question, suppose it would be better if people just explained what they mean in real terms in the first place rather then using words like good or poor ect
-
Really hard to define, everyone has different ideas of what good, really good ect mean. Suppose its just best for me to say I think he's the weak link in the defence and he often irritates me during games with his soft tackling and getting caught out of position.
-
No fair enough, I don't necessarily think he should replace Santon now.
-
Terms like poor are always relative, just comparing him to the rest of the defence, the point is he's not a very good defensively. I think i've seen every minute of Haidara's appearances and he looks a little shaky defensively, but it's more his age than an ability thing. Age, or even adapting to the league, he's played far less Football for us than Debuchy did before he got himself sorted out. Not saying I know he'll be very good, or even better than Santon, just don't see how we can know how good he'd be if he replaced Santon and got bedded in. I don't disagree its a risk either, just talking about comparing them and saying Santon is miles better, don't see how its a fair comparison (not sure how Santon could be miles better than any half competent defender either).
-
How can you know that? Haidara's made 8 appearances, with plenty of those being short subs. All we know is that Santon is a poor defender, Haidara is as yet unproven.
-
£67k is hardly well above our limit, unless he'd want a wage raise in which case fuck off.
-
Well the club has been pretty much break even outside of transfers for the last few years and in that time the money that's come in for sales has gone out for new players (not always in a timely manner of course). Our finances are only getting better now so we should certainly expect nothing less than every penny being brought in from players to be reinvested in new signings. Anything less is a step back from the way we were ran prior to Kinnear, which was already quite stingy. Really with our revenue going up so much in the summer we should expect more.
-
Agree, we should be fleecing them. Unfortunately I doubt the subject to replacement thing will be considered very important. They'll drag it to the last day if it brings in a couple of million more even if it means no replacement.
-
I'm starting to doubt whether the Cabaye fee is going to be anywhere near £20m. It better be. I don't care how much he goes for tbh, would have no bearing on what we spend on a replacement. Might not have any bearing on what we spend on a replacement, but it will effect our spend long term. If you don't think so count up what we've sold players for since coming back into the Premier League and then count up what we've bought players for in the same time.
-
I'm starting to doubt whether the Cabaye fee is going to be anywhere near £20m. 2 and a half years left on his contract, why wouldn't it be?
-
Our spend on transfers matches our transfer sales almost exactly since Carroll left. Unless you mean no chance of it being reinvested in the same window, which obviously happened with Carroll and is a worry, even more so with Kinnear in charge
-
Surely thats the point though? Aye him being out wouldn't have been the only factor but it was certainly one of them. Its being presented and often interpreted as if Cabaye was basically the only difference between the wins and losses though, when as you say he's only one reason. For example last season Cabaye came back right when we signed a few very good players who came into the side and helped us start winning again. Cabaye's a big reason for our wins, but those stats are a bit misleading.
