Do the eastenders people write these match scripts? As soon as Anichibe came on I knew he'd score, despite him being fucking shit.
-
By walking past Fellaini? What can he do about a dive and a shit refereeing decision?

Ba is gone. Can't see it not happening anymore. I know what you mean, but with his knee problems its not as much a forgone conclusion as any normal transfer.
-
It's a bit different when it's posted on the official website and when he gets withdrawn from the squad like. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20130102/club-statement-demba-ba_2281670_3024928 I know, but I don't understand how it went then: 3 days ago there was no offer and no meeting with Chelsea? Could just be that 3 days ago there was no match to withdraw him from and so no need for any announcement.

Ah right, weird, try changing the browser?

I don't know what I've done but I'm always happy when I entertain a stranger.

Last time it was us, replacing Carroll with Ba, Cabaye, Marveaux, Obertan and Cisse and still being well up in net cash What's also quite interesting is that in January 2011 Torres left Liverpool for Chelsea for £50m and Carroll left us for Liverpool for £35m. With Ba coming here for free and being seen as almost an after thought in the whole saga. Now Ba could be going off to replace Torres and a backup player from Chelsea could be off to Liverpool to replace Carroll I don't think he's going there to replace Torres. He's an opportunistic replacement for Sturridge. Not to say he doesn't have what it takes to subvert him when he gets his chance, but I think their thinking is short term rotation option until they can get Falcao and Lukaku comes back next summer. I agree, its just funny to think about the possibility.
-
After what we paid him and his clowns to sign him + wages + the £2m he gets when he leaves is there any profit ? Depends on what the true fee is and his wages I suppose. Also depends if you actually include wages in there since that's what the player is paid to do his job, and he's certainly done that since he's been here.

I think he'll do really well for them, unfortunately. I said the same about Carroll mind, but Chelsea are miles better than Liverpool are/were. Unless his knee gives out he can only do well really, but I can't see him being a regular starter for them. Not because he isn't good enough, but because Benitez loves Torres.

No, it wasn't totally wrong. 1st, he scored the goals while Cisse was (playing out of position or not) out of form at least at the start of the season. 2nd, the chance of Ba staying was always higher when he was happy. 1+1=2. He scored plenty of goals but the team malfunctioned, which is why we're in this mess. Not blaming Ba, but the team doesn't work the way Pardew set it up this season and IF he did that to keep Ba happy then it was a poor decision IMO.
-
Chelsea are rich enough to take the gamble. Can't see that even being an issue. £7mil for a player who's a proven goal scorer is an absolute steal. £7m plus how much to his advisers plus how much over the course of his contract? Could easily be £30-£35m in total with no insurance if he fails the medical. They may take the risk, who knows.

I ache for his entrance.

Wat? instead of playing to ba's strengths we can play to the teams strengths which will benefit colo, cabaye, ben arfa, cisse. not sure about the krul bit mind. Can't wait till this is debunked. why ? Because I'm sick of reading about how Ba is the/a cause of our horrible season. For it to be debunked, we'd have to have a worse 2nd half of the season than we've just had. Which will mean we're relegated. So you'd rather you were right than us stay up? I'd rather our dear manager found/used a formation that benefited our best players instead of hoping our top scorer leaves. Might just be me though. Yeah, but you just said you are looking forward to it being debunked. Which suggests you are looking forward to it not working, us getting relegated and you being proven right. The manager is holding us back, not Ba. I've put it in very plain English for you, Sew Sew. A bit of both IMO.

Oh for arguments sake Remy... 10m transfer fee plus 30K a week over 5 years... you do the maths. As for uninsurable... how the f*** do you know that? Forgot to say we may actually get someone committed to the cause As for the uninsurable part, why would we get him on an incentivised contract based on appearances if there wasn't something amiss Committed to the cause? The man has giving nothing but his all every time he has played for us. He's as committed to us as anyone. If only the club were as committed to him we wouldn't even be having this debate because I strongly believe he'd rather stay here than leave. He's not daft though, he knows he's worth far more than what he's currently on. The club are daft though because they obviously don't and this is why we are on the verge of losing our top goalscorer and key player. God knows what it will cost to replace him, no doubt a lot more than it would cost to keep him Oh, and there is no way there isn't some kind of insurance policy for Ba in place, regardless of his so-called dodgy knee. He did, after all, pass a medical.... Ok let's look at it like this... This is a man who kicked up a fuss last season because Cisse was getting all of the plaudits. If he'd have stayed on the left (which would have been best for the TEAM) he would never have got a move to Chelsea based on his goal return at the end of last season from that position. As an individual player he is undoubtably talented but as a team player and human being he is all that's wrong with modern football. f*** him, f*** his agents and I hope he fails miserably What fuss? He has never publicly complained. Our stupid rent a gob manager is the one that told the whole world Ba was unhappy not playing centrally and even if he was unhappy, who can blame him, he scores goals there. I'll tell you what is wrong with modern football... people like Mike Ashley and numpties like you who f***ing hang out of his arse. All I know is my club is losing its top goalscorer, its number one striker, the best centre-forward I've seen here since Shearer, at January, while we are only 2 f***ing points off bottom. And all because we don't think he's worth circa 80K a week. If he isn't, who the f*** is? Is Del Boy gonna score the goals to keep us up? How about Pardew? Or the man himself Mike Ashley? Demba Ba is worth what it is believed he wants, circa 80K a week. Anyway, his gain and whoever gets him, wor loss. Eh? Meant bottom places. Ah ok, just FYI its 3 points.

He'd scored 16 by February last year then got pushed out onto the wing (where we've learned from Cisse you can't possibly score from ). He'd have had 4 more in 4 months in his favourite position. He's got 13 by January this season and would definitely have had/will have 7 more in the next 5 and a half months. And the selling club stuff is true as they've barely paid a transfer fee without it being paid for by someone else. But that isn't what "selling club" means. Selling players to pay for our incoming transfers? I fully expect the "We're vulnerable to bids for Tiote" stuff to start the second Ba is out the door btw. Selling club means your primary aim is to sell players, regardless of whether you intend to bring players in or not. Surely, it means selling players to balance the books. Whether or not this is what we are doing will become clearer when the next accounts are published. To balance the books or make a profit irrespective of incoming transfers yes. Otherwise the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal would be considered selling clubs. Balancing your incoming transfers with outgoings does not make you a selling club IMO.

Think Ashley still has a lot to prove. But he's certainly done some good things along with the bad. Also I'll wait until this window closes before deciding whether Ba leaving is a disaster or not.

You reckon eh, ok.

I actually wouldn't want him to fail his medical or for the transfer to fall through because of anything other then Ba deciding he genuinely wants to stay. It would only mean this shit hanging over us for another 6 months.
-
Well, that part was a bit strange in the context of a Demba Ba to Chelsea thread, but not factually incorrect when you consider our transfer spending and wage ceiling compared to Premiership mid ranking clubs. I'm not going to get into the whole discussion about who we can or can't compete with other than to say its all opinion rather than fact (I mean what is our wage ceiling exactly?). I'm just pointing out that whether you believe we can compete or not Ba going to Chelsea neither proves or disproves anything of the sort.
-
Ba going to Chelsea confirms we can't compete with mid ranking clubs, fantastic logic as usual..

Simpson's seriously limited ability on the ball and constant backing off often wastes possession and puts a lot of pressure on us IMO. I think Perch is a better option there despite his lesser positional sense. Don't think Perch has ever looked bad there personally, Simpson occasionally doesn't look bad there. Perch at CB certainly doesn't fill me with confidence, though I have to admit it doesn't scare me anymore than Williamson being there, especially against a side like Arsenal, much rather see him in midfield though.
