Robert was absolutely brilliant as far as assists and goals go, one of the very best in the league at the time. Super lazy bastard that never did a single bit of defensive work in his entire time here like but still brilliant. I'd still choose Solano in his prime over him though.

Yeah - can't argue really but he gives us an outlet/option that commits the oppo defence. They can't ignore him....maybe in a weird way he's a holding midfielder. I really don't mind when he's on the pitch. A winger is ultimately judged on his assists and goals. He offers us neither. So does that mean we should play Nicky Butt in his place? Both of then don't score or create goals therefore ultimately they both offer the same to the team yes? Give over man. What does Jonas really offer to the team? He runs at defenders and that is it. If, and its a big if, he gets past them without falling on his arse over a daisy he then passes to people who aren't anywhere near the ball or are surrounded by opposition, while someone who is free is screaming for the pass or he takes a shot that ends up somewhere in the middle of the leazes end. Unfortunately, at present, we have no-one to take his place so he is getting his by default. At the moment he offers very little. Apart from the second half today when he harried the opposition and helped to give them less time on the ball. Something that showed big time when Mr Lazy replaced him. Obviously I would still hope he can get back to the player that at times seemed to have the ball attached to his feat with string last season and early this season. A player that would often go past his man and drive us forward and even if he did often end up wasting the chance he always took pressure off the team and often got us free kicks and corners. His weaknesses have always been glaringly obvious but that player definitely had his uses even without any goals or many assists. Anyway I just don't agree that anyone should judge a player 100% on assists and goals, that's what I'd do if I was playing a very basic Football Management game not real Football.

There is no ultimate way to judge a player, though no doubt a winger who isn't able to score goals or create many does come pretty close. I know, move him into center midfield and then he's not a winger, problem solved Anyway, I'm off to celebrate by thrashing Sheffield United in FIFA 10

Assists and goals are what you tend to look for in a wide player yes, but a player should be judged on their overall game. If a player gives the team something positive then he's worth having in the team UNLESS we have someone who can offer more, do we?

I bet you like Nicky Butt because "he tries" dont you?? 'Triers' and 'fakers'....fucking hate them......Jonas was fucking shit tonight again...Love the way he looks astounded, gutted even, at being taken off......anyone who backs that weak-hearted cunt is deluded.....he's a LOSER.....and pure shit......in an shit league...... Funny how someone will see completely different things in a person depending on there opinion of him. To me he look upset and a bit ashamed that he'd played so poorly again. Granted I'm not a Jonas hater myself, but when someone looks sad and has his had bowed that spells shame, certainly not bewilderment. Still he was much more effective then Harewood..
  6. It was the way he did it and the timing of it that wasn't right.
  7. He's a class defender, and he's getting better and better going forward, but at the moment he's only doing the last part in the Championship. Also his passing can be quite poor at times. If he improves his passing and keeps performing like he is now if/when we're back in the Premiership then he can think about moving on if necessary. Right now he's getting games and improving so why does he need to go at his age?
  8. The sex offenders list bit is a bit of a joke but other then that he deserved everything he got and more.

    Generating money

    Get back in the Premiership.
  10. Why does that article keep mentioning £7m as if that's all they gain from being in the Premiership
  11. I'm pretty sure they can. I know a season ticket holder and he claims there's a fairly long waiting list to get one aswell. They can but they don't regularly. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/matches/matches_frr.html Every competetive home game they've had this season they've got above 35000 and the ground holds 36214. I'd say thats pretty much filling it. Close but not close enough to suggest they could bring in anywhere near enough fans to make a 60k stadium worthwhile. Also having a large season ticket waiting list doesn't tell us much. Everyone on the waiting list will likely be part of those 35k at the ground every week. After all clubs only sell a certain percentage of their total capacity as season tickets. There was a time after St James' Park had been expanded when we were getting over 50k every week and had a massive season ticket waiting list, but that didn't mean we could have gotten 65-70k in the stadium had we expanded.
  12. I see a problem with that picture, the stadium is full
  13. Assists Guthrie - 4 Carroll - 3 R.Taylor - 3 Ranger - 3 http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/topassists?league=eng.2&seasontype=4&cc=5739 No Guttierez, I AM SHOCKED!!! Those aren't all the assists obviously, Gutierrez has two. And has only started 5 league games tbf. And has only been ineffective in 5 league games tbh. Hows that? He has to have been effective in at least one game to have gotten two assists.. Did the bloke do something to you personally or something? He is just pissing me off with his blinkered style of play. It is infuriating when he breaks up a run of play because instead of a simple pass to a team-mate he either decides to shoot and the ball goes a million miles over the goal, or he takes on a load of opposition and either loses the ball or ends up getting fouled, when someone is shouting for him to pass to them. There was more than me complaining about it yesterday. He just cannot seem to see past himself. He's been incredibly frustrating this season and I agree with all the issues you've just mentioned. Though I don't think its a case of not being able to see past himself. IMO its a combination of him always wanting to go forward (either passing it forward or running himself), a total lack of movement in the side and poor form.

Erm, he has to have been effective in at least one game to have gotten two assists.. Did the bloke do something to you personally? I mean I can see like anyone else that he's incredibly frustrating, but you just go overboard.

and then needlessly take on three men, ending up on his arse and losing the ball Or getting us a freekick in a good area.. remind me when we last scored from a free-kick this season? So its Gutierrez's fault that we're shit at free kicks? No but its his fault he would rather take on 3 men and end up on his arse than pass to a team-mate in space. Right but that doesn't change the fact that he does get us a lot of free kicks which is a positive thing. The fact that we've been wasting what should be a good opportunity to score doesn't negate the fact that you want to be winning free kicks around the oppositions box.

    RIP sale thread.

spill the beans then At the risk of sounding like a journalist, I understand a deal/compromise has been reached to allow the sale of the club Ok I'll play along and ask what you wanted someone to ask: A deal with who?

    RIP sale thread.

It's not really. Even at £80million, NUFC as it stands is very much overpriced at that figure. I mean, what are our assets that make us worth that much? Fan base, anything that brings in over £50m a year is a pretty big asset. Does it make the club worth £80m in its current state?, hard to say since we don't know exactly what state the club is in.

What a load of bull. Despite the man being a cunt I've always defended the fact that he hasn't made money from the club and has subsidised it every year. But that statement is utter bollocks. Revenue from fans last year (well last financial statement) came to around £54m, you'd think he'd be aware of that wouldn't you?

    RIP sale thread.

It is his club he owns it..... Without the fans there would be no club, its ours and it'll still be our club years from now when the fat prick is long gone. Dustynrg, no team can be expected to be strong enough for the Premiership when they're still in the Championship, the time the strengthen for the Premiership is in the summer after promotion.
  23. Said earlier on. I've watched both teams today, and Newcastle have no chance on Tuesday. Scunthorpe's midfield > Newcastle's midfield We have no chance against Scunthorpe? Righto go back to the rubber room now mate. You watched both teams today then did you? Don't be so fucking daft. So what are you basing your argument on? Sorry, I'll reword, just for those people who don't understand the obvious.. Having seen both teams play today, unless things drastically change, Scunthorpe will win. Better? Was I supposed to interpret your words as something other then their actual meaning? Yes that is better, I can't disagree that if Scunthorpe play a blinder and we play as poorly as today we'd most probably lose.
