  1. Like has been said, he dislikes the club because of what happened with Acuna. He mentioned Blackburn but I don't see him going into detail about that. My guess would be there's some truth in him being offered to clubs including us with the details being bullshit in order to get his name in the papers.
  2. You honestly both believe some horrible little c*** agent that we turned down a player who was currently a full French international (having just played in Euro 96) for £1m and said he wasn't good enough to play in League One? Not being pedantic or anything but he means First Division (Championship now). Yeah I know, I should have said First Division (didn't want to call it the Championship since as you say it wasn't called that back then).

    Nicky Butt

No, not today, not any day.
  5. You know I'd like to see the stats for possession in the 5 minutes before Butt came on and the 5 minutes after. While we were under pressure for most of the second half we'd had the better possession in the few minutes leading up to that substitution, just after he came on they had all the pressure and scored. Inevitably they're then going to sit back more when they're 2:1 up.
  6. Choking a lot today, but comments like that (what you point out in your post, not your post) are f***ing retarded. It doesn't take more then an ounce of sense to realise that people aren't being serious when they say something like that I know...but it's what others are pretty much getting at when they come out with other less obvious s****. They're getting at the fact that Hughton's a spineless f***er who doesn't have the guts to risk a loss while going for a win. Obviously he wants us to win every game, but he'll often go out for a draw, when teams put pressure on us (which is inevitable when the gameplan is to draw) he becomes a rabbit in the headlights. The man doesn't understand that sometimes the best form of defence is attack. Now I went over to watch the match today thinking that a draw would be a good result. But that doesn't mean we should play as if the draw is all we've come for. It doesn't mean we should bring on a burden like Nicky Butt and take off one of our best outlets up front, that only put more pressure on us. So when we're 2-1 down and getting over-ran you'd prefer to keep getting over-ran and lose rather than bring on someone who can provide a benchmark for us to attack by simply helping us get a hold in the game? Dare I say it but Away draws may be what takes us up this season automatically, so like it or not its working. We weren't 2:1 down though. It was 1:1 when Butt came on and we'd actually just started to turn it around and put some pressure on them, that disapeared once Butt came on (and Lovenkrands who was the only front man causing them problems came off)

  9. Routledge clearly not fit, only on bench in desperation like Jose. Which of Best and Ranger would you have used to help our overrun midfield and makeshift defence? That's the thing though, in the few minutes leading up to the substitution we'd gone onto the front foot and were starting to put pressure on them. Hughton obviously didn't like that and brought Butt on to ensure we would't go in front..
  10. Got to be up their with the ugliest Footballers on the planet though

  12. No its been discussed here plenty of times, give him time at his current club, hopefully he'll turn it around
  13. Its not as if Portsmouth have done pretty much the same as most clubs and just got unlucky though. A lot of Football clubs operate very near or just over their financial means and take financial risks, but I just don't agree that any level of financial risk is pretty much the same as any other. The level of risk matters a hell of a lot, plenty of businesses outside Football take risks, but what Portsmouth have done is absolute financial suicide. Doesn't matter though really. We both agree that Football needs to calm down financially and that hopefully Portsmouth will scare a lot of them into doing so.
  14. There are other clubs out there spending 100%+ of their income on wages alone? Serious question that like, I'd be interested to know. Certainly in comparison to most Premiership clubs (including us until this season) its a pretty large difference.
  15. Diverting money from a privately owned company into the owners’ bank account isn’t extortion or embezzlement. As I keep saying time will tell, but’ it’s a mistake to equate our on the field results this season with some kind of rosy future. What do you think Ashley’s master plan is then? What do you think his motivation is? Well he was pretty clear from the start that he recognised he would have to subsidise the club, certainly initially and was happy for others to invest if anyone fancied helping him out. There was no master plan, he wanted a football club for shits and giggles, found himself flailing in the deep end after pissing everyone off over Keegan and wanted out. There was no masterplan, no evil conspiracy. Now he either sells for a loss, or keeps pumping money in up to the point we are successful enough to be pulling in decent money again. Without any local billionaires on the horizon, and with Hughton and himself seeming to be learning on the jobs together and starting to get things right, I think I'd be almost inclined to hope he opts for the later now tbh. I’m glad somebody understands the choice Ashley faces. I can’t see him selling for a loss, and the more money he pumps in the more successful the club has to be generate the revenues needed to cover his investment – it’s never ending cycle. It’s a no win situation, which is why I think the extra income a return to the PL will bring won’t be invested in the team. It’s the only way I can see him not having to take big loss on his investment, and I doubt how this affects the long term future of NUFC will have any bearing on what he decides to do. But that would just mean a long term drain on his personal wealth for sod all return (even any fun) unless you think that he'd be holding on in hope that the future will see another sudden rush of foreign wealth coming in on a whim. Can't see it myself. Nar, he has to either sell asap or do his best and push us on after a period of stabilising the clubs finances. It's a gamble only for him. Fingers crossed, either way hopefully is win win for the rest of us. No it wouldn’t, it’s just about the only way he can stop putting money in. Run a club with 50,000 attendances on a Bolton size budget and in theory you can avoid relegation year after year and make a vast operating profit. No more cash going in and big profits – why wouldn’t he go for it? How is making vast profits the only way he can avoid putting more money in? How about breaking even.. Running the club on a shoe string and pocketing large profits year after year (which would be public knowledge threw club accounts) is a sure fire way to to see the clubs revenue dwindle to Bolton levels. Any money brought in by the club should be reinvested in the club while also making sure that the businesses continued long term costs don't outweigh its income. Do that and he won't need to put any money in and will have a good chance of increasing the value of his asset.
  16. Feel for the fans, but all to happy to take their undeserved place in the premierleague. how is it undeserved ? Arguably it's undeserved because they've spent far beyond their means on the players that has kept them in the league. Not saying I agree with the sentiment mind. Isn't it a bit "glass houses" for a Newcastle fan - or, for that matter, a fan of about three quarters of the teams in the Premier League, including the one I support - to criticise Portsmouth for spending far beyond their means, though? This isn't just Portsmouth's problem, it is football's problem, and if something doesn't change soon, it will all go to tit. But surely you can see that there's quite a huge difference between how Newcastle United (or indeed any other Premiership club) have overspent in comparison to Portsmouth. Their wages were about 100% of their turnover FFS! Over spending is certainly a problem in general in Football, but Portsmouth took it too an entirely new level (at least for a Premiership club anyway).
  17. Definitely not, that revenue includes all the usual Premiership money. Its still an extraordinary revenue for a club that was relegated that same season though and with any kind of moderate success we'd certainly jump up the list.
  18. Why would that be silly just could'nt imagine Ashey going for him. But he's just proved this season that he'll work on a frayed shoe string and put up with absolutely anything without walking away or even causing a fuss, sounds perfect for Ashley surely?
  19. Of course Villa will be losing money per week, almost all clubs do due to how cash flow works at Football clubs. The big difference between us and Villa financially is that they'll have £50m of Premier League money due to them at the end of the season. And they've got a net spend of £50m to go along with it. We've got a net transfer profit of about £40m in the same period. As everyone should know by now transfer fee's are almost always spread over many years. We're talking about cash flow here. Also our net spend is more like £29m profit.

  21. Admittedly no, but I still believe that people are randomly bearing a grudge for the team that we played on the last day of the season. Any other team we'd played that day would have revelled in us going down. Everyone wanted us down, because people like to see a big team (ugh) go down. They, and we did it with Leeds. Which Leeds banners did our fans make then? Geniune question. We didn't play Leeds on the last day of the season. You just said we did it with Leeds. Nah, what I actually said is in bold above. So you didn't mean what I thought you meant, that's really all you needed to say. Can't believe this is an argument about how people shouldn't dislike Villa fans for going out of their way to be total cunts about our team getting relegated Right definitely going out now, not wasting my time with this shit.
  22. I was, and I'm over it. I'm over it, doesn't stop me thinking they were cunts though.

Which Leeds banners did our fans make then? Geniune question. We didn't play Leeds on the last day of the season. You just said we did it with Leeds. Either way I think their fans were unbelievable cunts on that day, no excuse for it IMO and I don't agree at all that we'd have done the same. No amount of differing opinions with no facts can change that so end of discussion for me, glad they got beaten, just wish it didn't have to be to Manure. Going to play poker.

Think you're either underestimating the way th Villa fans went on with us or overestimating how sad and twatish Football fans are in general.
  25. Oh ffs, get over it man. this Why? Nowt wrong with wishing something bad on a bunch of classless twats who revelled in our relegation for no reason what so ever. I'm also glad they lost. Any team we'd have played that day would have done the same, take your pick. If we were in their position and had the oppourtunity to take the piss, I'm sure we'd have had the utmost respect. Who honestly gives a s*** what they think? Rubbish, can you see our fans turning up to St James' Park with banners about how wonderful it is that Villa are getting relagated? At most they'd have gotten a chant or two IF that. We've got little to no rivalry with them, which is what makes their fans such classless c***s for acting like they did. It only takes one or two. Out of 52,000 I'd take a massive stab at a yes for that. If you're going to generalise all of their fans by a classless few then you'll have no problem in me calling all of our fans fat, shirtless, beer swilling idiots then? Yes I hate every single villa fan right down to the kids and women.. I shouldn't have to put "(well no all of their fans)" in these kinds of posts just to make it clear that this sort of comment doesn't cover 100% of them. Anyway I think you're wrong, can't see anyone making banners for Villa had they been in our situation.
