I wouldn't say it shows a leap of form after leaving our club. How long had he been gone from Newcastle before he made it back into the Premiership? His main problem at our club was that he was a fat prick. I'd imagine his carear basically going down the drain after we released him has opened his eyes to the fact that he actually has to be fit to play Football.

Again they both scored the same number of goals, but if you think it would make any difference even if Fryatt had scored one more then I'm not the one nitpicking. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you wether a Championship team would want over £3m for their top goal scorer (nearly top scorer in the entire league) because the answer is obvious. This is a big waste of time, I'm out
-
Fryatt might be a good signing if we could get him for £2m, wouldn't happen though.
-
Originally I said Carroll had around the same record, which apparently we agree on.
-
League one seems a lot like the Dutch league, just without a couple of good teams They both got 27 like I've already said, Beckford got his goals in far less games though and IMO they'd want £3.5 to £4m for Fryatt.

6 in 23.... 4 in 15. We've been through this already. 6 in 23 in a very s*** team compared to 4 in the best team in the championship Did you read my other post? Obviously not, our goals scoring record isn't that much better then there's. We've scored 39, they've scored 31, at best that might make Mcleans record very slightly better, nothing significant at all. Which is all I orginally said tbh mate. You said that Mclean looked twice the player.
-
No he didn't, and yes he would Seriously though, they both scored 27 in the league last season. Beckford got his 27 in 32 games while Fryatt got his in 46 games.

I'd bet that Beckfords goal record in that league is better then any of those players. Also Fryatt would cost far more then Beckford.

How do his stats support that vs Carroll? Carroll has a goal every 3.75 games and an assist every 3. Mclean has a goal every 3.83 games and an assist every 3.83. Even in a team that scores a goal every 1.62 games vs a team that scores a goal every 1.29 games how can you say Mcleans record is noticably better? NOTE: Sorry to go suprt statto here people but he did mention stats
-
If we're only looking at the Championship now then that makes Mcleans goals scored record worse then Carrolls and his assists record is still worse. We're at the top of the league and they're at the bottom yes, but that's mostly down to our defensive records which are night and day, our goal scoring records aren't that far appart.
-
What the fuck are you on about now? Mclean has 25 starts this season, Carroll has 15, can you tell me the difference between those two numbers?
-
but mclean plays for a much shitter team than carroll does Fair comment yeah, he does also plays regularly though, which will benefit any striker vs being in and out of the team like Carroll. Also we're not exactly a creative team ourselves. No matter how anyone looks at it Mclean is no better then Carroll and he's older.
-
It does, Mcleans played 10 more games then Carroll, so its 6 assists in 25 vs 5 assists in 15.
-
He has 4 goals in 18 does Carroll. EDIT: 15 starts, fair enough. Carroll has 5 assists too. And? Mclean has 6. Are you forgetting the number of games?
-
Portsmouth are in so much of a worse situation then we'd be next season (if we're promoted) that its not even worth the comparison.
-
Personally I would rather take a chance on a higher end second division player, or even a premiership striker that might actually be able to do a job should we go up in May So would I, got £5 or £6 million to lend the club?
-
Mclean has a goal every 3.51 games, Carroll has a goal every 3.75 games. Wow that's a significant difference like. If Carroll could have somehow score one quarter of a goal more they'd have exactly the same record
-
Mclean has 7 goals in 25 games. Around the same record as Andy Carroll.. I'd certainly rather take a chance on a third division player who hasn't been tested in this league but could be good rather then a second division player who's been no better then one of our second/third choice strikers.
-
Then we'd have a backup player on low wages who we could move on to a Championship side if neccesary.
-
And yet we're not in for Aaron Maclean or George Boyd from Peterbrough who are apparently available for same price as Beckford... Aaron Maclean? You'd really want us to go for that kind of mediocrity? Think I'd rather take a chance on Beckford then either of those, but I'd have a fit if we signed Maclean.

To be fair, the snow in that - rather excellent, if I may say so ! - pic of the pitch, is a sprinkling. Its 8" deep in most pitches up and down the country at LEAST - lot more in others - and the same on roads and pathways outside. These days of litagation lunacy, clubs dare not take the risk. At least Reading did it early to stop a LOT travelling. That's because they took breaks every 15-20 mins in the first half to clear the pitch of snow. There were over a metre snow outside in Tromsø that day, and most of the winter iirc. This was supposed to be a proffesional game of Football yeah? Not jumpers for goals posts down the local park

Should be pretty soon, the last set of accounts were released early to mid January 2009.

£268m, not £300m.
