Last ditch efforts wouldn't be much good if it is literally going to be announced the next day Hard to believe its even a genuine effort, I mean they can't be thick enough to believe that letter has any chance of influencing the takeover surely? Seems more like the usual "look we're doing something for our money and we're dead moral" token effort.

It really is pathetic like ?
-
So who are these MPs? I mean we keep hearing this kind of thing, several times there have been reports of letters from various numbers of MPs. But I haven't seen any specific names mentioned. Anyone know who they are? Edit: Ah so the article actually names them this time.

The deal was done and with the Premier League well before survival was secured, had survival been a issue it wouldn't have. They would have waited to complete the deal. Think that article is just poorly thought out guess work, IMO.

I think it’s a safe bet they didn’t consider regional structure when they included Qatar and Saudi in same rights package to begin with. Why is that safe to say? Because Saudi and Qatar have always been best of friends? If they have built in a get out clause in the event of a scenario like this I’d be very impressed, however my guess is all that mattered was the 500 million. Also the likes of Matt Slater and Jacobs seem to think Saudi negotiating individual rights for remainder of contract are complicated and unlikely. I don't know if they have or not, just wouldn't say its safe to say they didn't possibly foresee a issue between two sworn enemies. Also don't really put much faith in journalists when it comes to anything but reporting something they're told, in this case they're speculating, like everyone else.

If the Premier League agree to take Saudi as its own broadcast region and agree to compensate BEIN for their region being reduced in size it could perhaps be possible to do it now. As BEIN would still keep their MENA TV deal at a reduced rate, just speculating of course. would require BeIN to agree to it and well why the hell would they agree to it? Well money, they're in the shit financially and right now they get absolutely nothing for their license from Saudi. They'd be getting a large discount for losing a broadcast area that's completely worthless to them.

I doubt it would legally be as easy as that though. Maybe not if BEIN refused to accept the situation. But they'd be mad to do so, since right now they get 0 revenue from Saudi. Some compensation from losing a country they make nothing from would be a no brainer. Meanwhile the entire issue of Qatar and Saudi squabbling over TV rights goes away and the PL lose no money. Of course just because it would make sense doesn't mean its happening..

when the entire takeover has centered around piracy and tv rights and by banning bein KSA have just dropped the value of beins rights in the MENA region significantly As has been said, this was a ongoing court case started well before the takeover. So while the outcome might seem relevant, the decision isn't necessarily anything to do with the takeover.

R E Maine (Remain) Sounds legit Aye, R E Main @ rejointheu Obviously a sensible lad and definitely his real name, has my full trust
-
Has Bruce licked his own face off yet?
-
We've been absolutely fantastic.
-
Honestly hope we lose anyway, pointless club until a takeover happens and I'm sick to death of hearing how "fantastic" we've been under Bruce. Can only imagine how that'll go into overdrive if they get more points than under Benitez. Obviously they'll completely ignore the fact the majority of that is because of players like Saint-Maximin that Benitez didn't have.
-
Probably because he didn't. Its a clash of legs that's as much from the attacker as it is the defender. What I don't get is how people don't seem to think a attacker has any responsibility when it comes to a coming together. Not going to bother though, enough people will think literally anything is a penalty these days so its pointless to argue I suppose.
-
Another one of those ridiculous pens where the attacker kicks the defender, falls over and apparently its a pen because there's contact
-
I'd just continue doing what I've done for the last year or so, ignore NUFC (obviously outside of a serious takeover)
-
Flicked this travesty on for a minute, first thing I hear is some mong saying that "people don't talk about Benitez much these days because of the amazing job Bruce has down, the fantastic Football they play and goals they score".. Turned it straight back off. Would an absolute cunt.

He’s getting plenty of replies from our lot after that tweet. Doesn’t look like the blacklisted 20 yesterday is going to slow down business. 3 things in the last 24 hours, sanctions against nobody involved with PIF, GB arms deal ban with SA is no more and Raab's tweet about SA relations. This is going through. Those replies licking Tory hoop when they have approved more arms sales to SA. Christ we're not coming out well with all this, if this was another club they'd be getting hammered in here. We do hammer other clubs in here, meanwhile the club we support dies a slow death, losing its support and inevitably dwindling towards obscurity. I'm really not bothered if some of our support look bad on twitter, and not just because its a ridiculous cesspit and 100% wrong in its representation of just about every cause or general consensus. But because I don't think we need Football friends, we need success.

Not 100% sure, but I think it was introduced after Abramovich bought the Chelsea. It doesn't seem to be a one-off thing, the PL rules require directors to be declared every season and they can be disqualified at that point if the PL becomes aware that they fail the O&D test. Abramovich has reportedly admitted in court to paying millions in bribes, which would clearly be an offence that in this country that would reasonable be considered to be dishonest. It should be a constant thing really, I mean if they look at new owners to see if they're unfit how can it be accepted that someone currently running a club couldn't possibly become unfit? Reason is its actually not possible for the PL to stop the takeover. All they could do is ban Newcastle United from their competition if taken over by someone they deem unfit. With new owners they can use that as a threat to prevent a takeover they don't like. But in reality there's literally no chance they would ever ban a member from their league and if they did the test on current owners that might end up having to happen.

Three new pages, what do we get, more shite about khashoggi's window, brexit and herd immunity bollocks to boot This thread is really living up to the "lost the plot" title.
-
Well, they're the ones apparently acting as the middle men (which still sounds ridiculous btw). But even if that's true, they aren't actually being asked or answering questions themselves. Its not as if they're more in the know than the buyers because they received the questions first.
-
Funny how everyone (Media) was so concerned at the start the our club is going to be used for sports washing, yet the ones that have used us are the PL to settle scores in the Middle East and get a better grip on their IP. Not once have we been considered in all this by the PL and not once have anyone in the media pointed out how badly used the club has been during the process. They couldn’t care who owns us, what they do with us, whether they owners abuse the fans loyalty or milk the club dry. All they are concerned about is themselves, their product and how much more money they can bring in for themselves. The worst thing is that's seen as the way it should be by some people on here.

Had on, the Premier League have every right to take as long as they want, because it has nothing to do with us (the fans who's support actually gives their member clubs a reason to exist). But we have absolutely no right to voice our own opinions on the Premier League, about our own clubs prospective takeover, on a discussion forum in a thread about that takeover? The Premier League aren't above reproach, if they don't give a shite about people who support and watch their product that's their decision. But people are going to have their view on them.
