Nowt wrong with looking at stats as a guideline if you have little knowledge of a player. Just needs to be tempered with the knowledge that they are only a guideline and far from definitive.

Perez maybe?, think he came here over some other clubs because he thought he'd have a better chance of playing rather than us paying him big wages.
-
All competitions since Obertan arrived in England: Obertan: 5988 minutes played (66 full games) Goals - 4 Assists - 14 Townsend: 5915 minutes played (65 full games) Goals - 11 Assists - 15 Not great for either, but until I see Townsend I'll assume he's better than Obertan anyway, he's got to be
-
Townsend is at least capable of making a decision in the final third, unlike Obertan who just dithers aimlessly on the ball until he gets tackled. At the very least Townsend has confidence in his own ability, he has the guts to actually use his pace to be direct. Obertan has pace and power but he's scared to run at people.

They were already relegated before they brought them in, they just couldn't accept it. Same here, isnt it? Course it isn't QPR were bottom on 14 points at this point in the season, that's hopeless no matter what you do (history shows its a impossible position). We're third bottom on 21 points, plenty of teams have gotten out of that. Point is QPR improved in January with those signings, but they were already too far gone.

By the sounds of it I don't think he's got the footballing intelligence to progress as a player. We've just got to hope that finally getting the move he's wanted for years really hypes him up and he gives it everything, because he does have the raw ability and pace to cause teams problems.
-
Never been a big fan of his, but he does have ability and with a fresh start he could do well here. Some of the comments from Spurs fans are quite positive, didn't fit the way Pochetino wanted to play but does have talent. Certainly could cause problems on the break with his pace and direct running. Get it done and then focus on a striker for the last week of the window.

Who you on about?, Sissoko? Don't think we'd get that much more for him right now than we're paying for Townsend and likely Mclaren will want Townsend at left wing while Sissoko is right wing.

Thauvin doesnt seem to be rated and SDJ is never fit tho.. Loki is right like, we've enough in the squad to not need Townsend as a priority signing. Plenty can fill in in those roles. Doesn't look as if they're going for either or though, looks like it's townsend plus a striker, as opposed to townsend instead of a striker. Yep, and at least if they get Townsend sorted now they can focus on the last player they're looking at. We all know they'll struggle to work on two at the same time.
-
I can imagine Perez warming the bench for the rest of season and we flog him to Spurs for 10 million in the summer You've got one fucked up imagination
-
Course we didn't pay £13m + Cabella for Thauvin..
-
The vine of him from the weekend, he's about to shoot and knocks the ball out for a goal kick with his standing foot and then falls over And they want 20 mil+ 34 goals in his last 50 leagues games.
-
If we don't get all three (Remy, Berahino and Townsend) we stand no chance at all of staying up? The more the merrier like but Remy alone would already give us a good chance.
-
Hold on, Villa have a current goal difference of -20, Sunderland -18 while our current goal difference is -15. Yet they reckon our goal difference will improve to -13 but still be the worst in the league? Great example of why you shouldn't extrapolate from stats like these
-
The Chronicle aren't, it was the Telegraph.
-
Oh aye I'm sure we're just aching to let Tottenham have Perez on the cheap like, what with how great they've been over the Townsend deal
-
Berahino doesn't want to be there, they don't want him there, the manager doesn't play him and he's got 17 months on his contract. If their chairman really managed to tell us "He's not for sale" with a straight face he's got some balls on him (or he's mental)
-
Think it might be a tactic as well, Tottenham might very well want money in for Townsend to use for Ramirez. Even if Ramirez would choose them ahead of us they'll likely be haggling over his fee and competition from other clubs won't help them with that. Plus they've lost the money they wanted to raise for the transfer from the sale of Townsend, double wamy from Fat Ashley

Villa's commercial revenue in 2014 was 25.7m rather than £30m+ wasn't it? At least according to Swiss Ramble. Doesn't changed the overall point of course. Even if we weren't outsourcing catering we'd only be sitting on mid £30m commercial revenues, and if they were doing their jobs right for the club we should be more like £60m or so.

I get what you mean. But I'm not sure what we are, if Watford are very shit Recent form rather than over the season so far. Watford have been better than us for most of the season of course, but lately they've dipped and look poor at the moment, losing their last 4 in a row. On the other hand we've picked up in the last few games.
-
Think this really comes down to if we turn up or not. Been very good in our last three Premier League games, and Watford are shit. However we do struggle to put in the effort against the shitter sides, especially away, and Watford are very shit. If we turn up we'll win, if not who knows.

Aren't Tottenham also after Ramirez?

What benefit would Swansea get from that deal?
