Then there is the fact that every league place is worth £500,000, so if we drop 4 places we lose £2 million. But the other options - Sib: not really up to it Dyer: nowhere near a striker Erm......oh, hang on - Owen: not fit Ameobi: utter s**** Martins on his own: does not work. We need to do SOMETHING. Though Sib complimented Martins very well against Sheffield United. I'd start that pairing against Pompey. He can't do it consistently, or even for an entire game. He was worth it for half a season, but he's past it now. What does Carroll offer though? Who knows how he'd handle a hostile and pressured enviroment like Fratton Park in a game we cannot afford to lose. While I agree he needs to be broken into the first team soon I don't think Saturday is the right time ot do it. When is, then? I suppose we could bring him on when Sib inevitably tires, but there is no-one ele i'd play.

You aren't reading the posts then. Let me give you a clue....Martins. We needed a striker before a LB. Not signing either is not a result of signing Duff and does not make Duff a bad signing. Obvious really, although it seems it's not that easy for some people to grasp. And we needed a central defender and a left back before we needed a left winger. Thats very clear. Is it that clear though. The only other player who can play LW is the Zog. So surely, we did need a LW. We have NO premiership left back. Therefore we needed one. Simple.

Ronaldo seems to haver a greater impact on a more consistent basis. i think he is currently a better footballer than Ronaldinho, although clearly a different TYPE of footballer, so like-for-like comparisons are hard.

As England manager he only lost four competitive games the Northern Ireland qualifer and the three quarter-final defeats (two on penalties). It's not a bad record, really. if you completely ignore the performances. How many dour draws was it? Yet you defend that cunt Roeder, who has produced a team with far worse relative performances.
