  1. Wouldn't want him here before he managed somewhere else and he would make a terrible England manager if he did it now.

    This.

Being a good footballer doesn't make you a good football manager, its a whole different skill set, same as in many walks of life.

Let him prove himself and learn those skills first, then bring him to Newcastle. If that costs a bit of money, so be it. Better pay a few quid for a good manager than pay a LOT more overall if an untested manager turns out shit.

  2. Am I allowed to say I'm gutted that a team I support has gone out of a major tournament or will I have my soopafan badge revoked?

Why some people wear it as a badge of honour is beyond me.

    Because they are arseholes.

I'm gutted, because I'm an English football fan. I support England for the same reason that I support Newcastle - it's where i'm from. There is no conflict, except for retards.

  3. Taylor's the worst centre-half at the club. He's had about 80 first team starts now too and the errors show no sign of sign of abating. He also lacks a bit of pace and doesn't have the nouse to make up for it. He's big and strong and honest but that's not enough for me.

I disagree, i think that, given a capable partner and some coaching, he will become a good player.

We have worse performers this season, but as they are "new" - although not all new to the premiership - apparently we aren't a;;owed to discuss them.

Not allowed to discuss them? Everyone (including you) wants Cacapa put down.

I wasn't talking about him, i was talking about players who are not new to the premiership.....the hint was in the phrase "not all new to the premiership" ;)

Oh, and on the basis that he was passable for a few games, then absolutely fucking woeful in one, i wouldn't have Cacapa 'put down'. I'd just tie him to a tree in the park with a cleaned-out ice cream tub full of water, and make an anonymous call to the RSPCA.

  4. I take it you've got a season ticket at Bolton and seen him play a million times, NM? Isn't that the usual shite you come out with when people talk about a player from another team?

No, i don't have one. And neither do you, nor anyone else on here i'm guessing. MY OPINION, which is all i have ever claimed to state - unlike some knobheads on here, and please include yourself in that if you wish, who seem to claim to know how good every player in the league/country/world is - is that this player is no better than the pretty good players we already have in that postion.

If my having that, or any other opinion, offends you, feel free to fuck off.

  5. Lets not sign Jaaskelainen. He's not better than what we havem simple as.

I'd rather Allardyce signed GOOD defenders, a midfielder, and a striker. i.e. not the quality of some of his other signings.

I take it you're not into the whole "letting players settle into a new league" thing right?

Yeah, Geremi and Smith should be given time to settle, definately.

  6. There's something about redknapp that i detest so I'd vener want him either. Typical cockney t***. Goes for his twatting son as well.

    He gets results, though.

Pretty true. He's clearly pretty effective at that club.

    I just can't stand him.

You appear to let your prejudice affect your judgement quite frequently.

Really? Based on that comment, you appear to talk shit. But don't worry, i don't think anyone's noticed.

  7. Out of those, I'd have, in order:

    Moyes

    Hughes

    O'Neill

    Allardyce

    Bruce

    Redknapp

    WUM

    Explain yourself.

I would never, ever want Redknapp at my cluib, or any club I had any vestige of respect for. Ever.

Whether you like him or not... worse than Bruce? Come on now.

NM  caught in a peverse maelstrom of irrationality....Not like you mate. bluerazz.gif

    Oooh, cutting. You wish.

  8. It now looks as if ARSENAL want him - anyone prepared to argue with Mr Wenger..!???

OOh, ooh, paper talk!! It must be true!!!!! Lets sign him before he signs for someone else made up!!!!

  9. Lets not sign Jaaskelainen. He's not better than what we havem simple as.

I'd rather Allardyce signed GOOD defenders, a midfielder, and a striker. i.e. not the quality of some of his other signings.

  11. I'm pretty sure that Andy Carroll won't be playing for England by the time he's 20 and the majority of the Newcastle supporters will therefore write him off as crap.

It's far easier for Allardyce to go and buy some unknown foriegner who will end up doing okay for a few games. As soon as the unknown foriegner is mentioned inthe press everyone will rush to CM and say how great he is, and everyone will be happy.

That we continue to produce nowt form the academy will not matter, we've got Ashley's money, we're okay

The reason he won't be playing for England isn't because he's crap (although he's not going to pull any trees up, is he).

Big Sam ready for transfer window

Nov 20 2007 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle

SAM ALLARDYCE has admitted his plans are well advanced so that he can quickly move when the transfer window opens again in January.

The Newcastle United boss believes his squad is not big enough and he also has to take into account that he will be without the likes of Oba Martins, Geremi, Abdoulaye Faye and Habib Beye when they head off to the Africans Cup of Nations at the turn of the year.

While Allardyce has strengthened his backroom staff at the clubs training ground, United now also have arguably the strongest scouting squad in their history, with men working for them who have had a lifetime in football.

Former United No 2 Bobby Saxton is one, and he has been joined by Adrian Heath and veteran Jackie Chapman, all of whom have a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Uniteds scouts were out in force at the weekend, and Allardyce said today: They are out watching 24/7, 365 days a year.

All we are doing now is building up a knowledge and a database of players that has had to start from its infancy.

It will take a good few years to come up to speed to live with the big boys in the Premier League, but we have started the process.

United have been linked with several players in recent weeks, but most have been inaccurate.

But Tal Ben Haim at Chelsea is one target, and so too are Brazilian central defender Edmilson and Russias versatile Andrei Arshavin.

Ben Haim would love to link up with his former Bolton boss at St Jamess Park, and Big Sam can only hope the Israeli central defenders current £75,000-a-week pay packet at Stamford Bridge does not prove to be a stumbling block.

The next step for Allardyce is to discuss what he would like to do in January with Toon owner Mike Ashley and chairman Chris Mort.

The United boss added: I will have the discussion with Chris and Mike when the time is right.

We will then sit down and plan for what might or might not happen regarding January and move it forward from there.

Those discussions are not needed yet. What we need is the information on the players who would make Newcastle United better at first-team level first, and then below that at an age where we have not got any development players.

The club has very few development players between the ages of 17 and 20, and then below that, to bring through more and better players for the Academy.

That all comes with time, the right structure and the right amount of knowledge to get those players.

you just KNOW he's itching to squeeze an "Emerton is close to signing" lie in there.

£75k a week for Tal Ben Haim??? I hope we don't match that!

  13. :jesuswept:

Ditto. One bad game and a player is embaressing? We have some of the worst "supporters" in football.

Sorry, yeah - Cacapa is brilliant, and deserves a place in the starting XI.

    Like fuck does he.

After one bad game? He was fairly decent in all the other matches I saw him in.

He was ok in most of the other games, bar a few wobboles. No better than Taylor or Rozenhal - in fact, on balance worse than both of them when they played together, so why shoudl he get a start*?

    * other than Allardyce and his Random Selection Madness.

  14. Out of those, I'd have, in order:

    Moyes

    Hughes

    O'Neill

    Allardyce

    Bruce

    Redknapp

What impresses you about David Moyes?

I liek the way he goes about things. He's quietly built up a nice effective little squad, containing a number of players, despite what some of us might be stupid enough to think, that are better than our equivalents.

I can't agree abotu the "big players" thing, because there is little evidence of Allardyce being any better at that, other than his abilities to get faded starts to perform relatively well.

    Over five years.

yes, over a good period of time. And he's had some very good and some bad seasons. But i like him. And he looks all scary-eyed as well. Like a ginger Collina.

Don't you see the hypocrisy in critisising Allardyce already then?

    Moyes initial signings btw:

    First summer

Yobo (£1m, paid a further £4.5m the following summer)

    Li Weng Fei (£200k)

    Li Tei (£200k)

    Juliano Rodrigo (£1.25m)

    Richard Wright (£3.5m)

    First January

    Ibrahim Saeed (Loan)

    Brian McBride (3-month loan)

    Iain Turner (£50k)

    Espen Baardsen (Free)

Undoubtedly, it took him a while. But he didn't spend the amounts Allardyce has. Anyway, the Moyes thing is an opinion from afar, isn't it. There is more at stake with MUFC as far as i'm concerned, so i'm more jumpy.

You're a Man Utd fan?! Explains it all.

    stupid fat fingers! :(

  15. Who told you he didn't?

No-one. I was, if you have a look, responding to a point someone else originally made STATING that Mourinho wanted to keep him.

I'm pretty sure I recall Mourinho stating he wanted to keep him too though. For a couple of weeks before he went there were constant rumours about him going to Spurs or us and in that time I distinctly recall Mourinho saying he wanted to keep him but understood why Duff wanted to leave (1st team opportunities).

Lets not pretrend that a soundbite given to the Sun is an actual real opinion of a manager. No-one on here has a fucking clue what Mourinho thought.

  16. I'm looking forward to Duff coming back to full fitness. He may be shite, but he's more likely to give us the pace and dynamism that can stretch a game than Milner ever is.

Shame he plays on the other wing, and is not as good as our best player in his actual position.

  17. Out of those, I'd have, in order:

He hasn't done enough for me over 5 years.

He's done very well at Portsmouth, ok so they've had a few notable cash injections in his time, but still - who would have thought 5 years ago that Portsmouth would have become a very strong Premiership outfit?

    Sorry my bad.

    Was on about Moyes.

Fair play, not sure I agree with you though. He's had a couple of patchy periods but he's turned Everton into a pretty decent team as of late. I don't think he's the man to take them a step further though, and I'd feel the same if he was to join us.

I don't think Allardyce is either, though.
