Was just trying to think of comparable underwhelming signings who came good. Best, Murphy and Sibierski stand out to differing degrees. Ability-wise Joselu is ahead of all three, so hopefully his attitude matches.

However, if we could get good money for him we could replace him relatively cheaply with a player of similar quality and free up some funds to spend elsewhere. He's in the Mitrovic bracket of "would like to keep personally, but don't think Rafa fancies him at all".

It's quite humorous that he talks about buying £50m players in the first place. We barely go over a quarter of that for our "marquee" signings. The least said about the #pashun bit the better.

Diame covers both centre mid and #10 so has a bit of an edge there IMO. Interested to see how Rafa plays it, left Gamez out as he was nowhere near the team last season while Mbemba eventually did alright and can cover the fullback slots in a jam. Not sure Lascelles is anywhere near 100% yet, so seems a risk to have him as the only centre back, but can you leave the captain out altogether? Would love Gayle to sneak in, but can't see it.
