This atmosphere will not be representative in the slightest. Think every game will be exactly like this tbh. NSIS It'll be weird atmospheres that I don't like as nearly everyone who goes will be "neutral". The well supported European teams will probably not have that many out there like it was in SA. Pen that. It upset me how braindead you appear to think I am at times Of course I understand this is a real one off having seen the majority of the other games. My initial comment is just because I think the general settings are far better, there's a home team with a real chance of going all the way, the crowds will be more knowledgeable generally, there'll probably be a better away following for more teams (albeit not hugely) and there'll be no fucking vuvuzelas!

Yeah I completely did. I actually think his tackling is OK.

Is dynamic a new word for no creativity? Cabaye was credited with 2 assists this season, hasn't been the creative force you might imagine. I just think if you have a midfield section with plenty of pace and power you free up more time and space for HBA and hopefully someone like PEA to provide the creativity. I think Cabaye is a very intelligent player, he just doesn't really fit into an English team too well. He doesn't seem to like getting forward or making runs into the box, so he ends up playing behind Tiote which is fine for spraying around nice passes, but he's not a good tackler so ends up making lot of messy fouls when he's playing in that position. Maybe a different manager could set the team up to use him like a continental side would, that's the frustrating thing about Pardew, we'll just never know while he's here. I appreciate you may have glossed over that bit like and focused on the "getting forward" part. Agree with the 70 minutes thing as well, but I assume that's because at that point of the game he's already covered more ground than most players do in the 90 given the amount of closing down and harrying he is expected to do in his role. As I've posted before in this thread, he covered more ground than anyone else in the league on a game-by-game basis in his debut season, while also making the most tackles in the division overall. I may be being a bit overly-protective of him here while placing more than the fair share of the blame at Pardew's feet, but there are good reasons for that. Like I've said, I consider him the most complete footballer on our books (although it's a toss-up between him and Coloccini) and from what we've seen of him away from the field in the various French features he seems an absolute professional with his extra fitness training, learning the language so quickly, convincing others to come, etc. All of this, added to his general ability and apparent leadership role in the dressing room, make him someone I'd be devastated to lose. I still think there's hope for Tiote too like, so what do I know?

He has genuine quality, yeah. His suitability to this league is questionable. Fair enough, but I see him getting beaten with sticks like "is poor at tackling", "has no stamina" and "gives away too many fouls" in attempts to prove this point. The first two are absolutely laughable and can be disputed with stats if people's eyes aren't capable of seeing it in the first place, while the latter is hardly the problem it is made out to be at times for someone in his position. I'll admit his corners are very poor for someone of such technique but other than that I think he's been a diamond in what he's been asked to do in this team, he's not playing his game at all and he's still been impressive in the main. I'd argue he's our most technically proficient player overall and I'll be gutted if he goes.

Cabaye is genuine quality man, there's absolutely no disputing that.

Don't sell Cabaye

So is what we've got, only he's 22 with bags of pace. He'd have taken Simpsons place off him last season. He reminds me of Simpson a lot actually, although he obviously has the potential to go further given his age. Still happier to have Debuchy, although we should've had him signed up in the summer as well.

Really? Howay. Dunno whether it's just because it's the summer so it's not affecting us on the pitch yet, but I've certainly not been too upset by it all. If we start losing good players and/or bringing absolute shite in then I'll start to spit the dummy out. Fair enough. I'm not gonna come on here and say "you shouldn't think THIS", but I honestly don't know how anyone can enjoy having this man associated with the club - regurgitating verbal diarrhoea every time a journalist is within a few miles of him. I don't even give a shit if Shearer couldn't cut it and I don't care if he's entitled to 'fight back' in the press... he's stuck it to the bloke I'd call my hero and it's just another in a list of utter fucking bullshit. The bloke is an idiot and an embarrassment. None of this post is anything new, but I just can't come to terms with it. His appointment has had no effect on the pitch yet, but people are laughing at us again (our own fans included) and it's gutting. After the Arsenal well game (well, Sunderland really), I had pretty much switched off from football (news) cos it was bareable that way. Kinnear came back and I 'switched on' again, but only for a few days in the midst of the immediate furore. Having tried to turn my back until August again, it's just not gonna be possible when this clown is involved with us. Buh. Maybe us being mental has just become the norm for me, so it's what I expect. It's not nice to be the laughing stock again, of course, but I'm lucky enough to have a relatively insular existence when it comes to NUFC. Got some family who are Sunderland/Spurs that I speak to very rarely, but aside from that everyone else I see regularly is a Newcastle fan too. I don't read Twitter, listen to 5Live/talkSPORT or watch much SSN so I don't get much external reaction at all. I do, perhaps oddly, appreciate the fact that Kinnear has been incredibly good value for the media since the bombshell got dropped and I'm also warmly supportive of Pardew getting his cage rattled a bit after that abortion of a season. I honestly couldn't stop listening to his talkSPORT interview because it just felt so surreal and it was genuinely entertaining listening to him rambling on like a drunken madman. Of course it was embarrassing and could potentially have been/still be used by the likes of Cabaye to help engineer a move away, but it's been quiet so far on that front. He did at least appear to know who some of our best players are as well, which is a start, and as always it wasn't as bad as it was made out to be. Llambias getting forced out could be a positive to come out of the situation as well, although again time will tell on that. I do have the nagging doubt that Kinnear in the DOF role is a ticking timebomb in the way Wise was, but then again it's not like I have any time for Pardew like I did for Keegan. Pardew > Kinnear is a lot easier to take than Keegan > Kinnear, basically. It's a very confusing time at the moment, but I certainly wouldn't say it was all doom and gloom again. We've still got what I personally consider to be a very strong squad and the owner does appear to be somewhat fucked off that we underachieved badly last season, which surely can only be a positive thing? We've heard for ages people saying they wanted to get him "interested again" and January was proof that if he's involved then things tend to get done and rules tend to get bent a little bit. As I said earlier on in the thread, it's really just about watching the transfer window and the pre-season unfold now for me. Things are incredibly difficult to judge at present because of the sheer amount of turbulence this has all brought.

That doesn't mean anything nowadays. Of course it does. Sissoko was highly-regarded by many top clubs and if we hadn't picked him up, somebody else would have.

Didn't watch the game, but heard they were better against Nigeria than against Spain. They need someone to control and dictate the game for them. Lodeiro is their only option to be that creative outlet. They stack up with 'tacklers' centrally in midfield but who are completely inept at passing a ball. Whole team reminded me of ours, i.e. a mess with some exciting individual components. Just looked a total shoehorn.
