Seen him mentioned by others before, I'm sure, but I'd be surprised if Cheick Diabate from Bordeaux doesn't feature somewhere on our list of striking targets - particularly if Shola packs in and we look to sign two.

Fucking loved that

Who are other comparable "jumpers" in world football that we could attract? We need more "jumpers".

Thread over.

Previous thread: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,58769.0.html Will he be a Newcastle player again by the time this one reaches 1000 pages?

Maria Hudd in The Independent, probably doesn't know the offside rule either.

I'd have him back for £15m. We almost spent that much on Luuk De Jong if I'm remembering right.

Really good thread idea but it doesn't need to be stickied, if people know we have one now then it'll just get bumped as-and-when there's news. Should try and organise an N-O table if any good 'uns pop up in the near future

Can we not borrow Lukaku for a year?

Does Lindegaard ever save anything?

First half I'd agree. Second half was mediocre personified. It wasn't great, but I wouldn't go that far. But for gifting them their goal from a daft free kick, they didn't really trouble us. Harper only had one meaningful save to make. Unfortunately, we lost the crowd after their goal. We looked calm with the ball and were happy to play it back into midfield and defence to retain possession. Not seen that in a while. Probably down to the lack of pressure, I guess, rather than any real change in ethos or direction. Thanks, Rich, for your valued input. You are the wind beneath my wings. You know I'm a fan really, just couldn't help but be tickled by that opening gambit.

You've been decked in half here IP. Absolutely mauled.

He was comfortably our best player until his first injury this season. Agree he has been off form since.
-
Can only see it going one way if he stays, but I live in hope as always.

Tremendously abject second half. 16th

Two assists for Garry Thompson, get in.

I honestly don't see what he has to lose by adopting a more attacking philosophy next season, for starters, how can we do any worse? As daft as it sounds, some basic progress on that front and a move away from what I consider a Stoke-esque approach (the goalkeeper taking all free-kicks in our half, the eleven men back on corners, etc.) would definitely claw back some feeling amongst the support, I'd assume at least. Obviously some are far, far gone at this point. Sunday might bring it back up in me depending on how it goes, but my antipathy towards him has already mellowed a fair bit since we secured safety. If he cannot get the team to go hell-for-leather in the final game of the season against a tasty outfit where all the pressure is on them then I'm not sure he can at all, he's almost got a full-strength squad to choose from at the minute too. Basically, I tend to follow Disco Des' philosophy on things at the minute. If he's not going we may as well hope for a good summer in the transfer market and a renewed approach next season. I think the worst feeling as a football fan is apathy towards your own team, and thankfully I'm not quite there yet.
