  1. If Fat Mike plans on riding it out, then that's surely the only option going. The world has to keep on turning in some form. I still can't see why he'll want to stay if he's not able to watch the games with the fans/wear the shirt, though. If he genuinely wanted to buy the club to have some fun, then surely those days are done with as some will never forgive or forget.
  2. There certainly isn't a British manager realistically available who I'd be happy to see in the job here - or a manager currently managing in Britain, even.
  3. I think all the posturing is simply because we're at the head of years and years of frustration and some people are finally getting wound up enough to do something about it. Other people, like me, can't be arsed and are just being made more and more apathetic by the whole thing.
  4. I dont want the appointment to pacify me. I want our league standing in May 2009 to pacify me. I refuse to get excited by an appointment ever again. Just been let down too many times Easy to say, impossible to do IMO. It's what football's all about man. I was talking merely short-term (as in immediate) reaction to it. I would like to think Zico could keep/get the lads playing though, he's certainly got the reputation that commands respect. Another way of looking at it is that he's a world-famous name, which could entice potential buyers.
  5. My knowledge of managers outside of the PL is hardly sterling, but are there many bigger/better that we could realistically attract? Speaking as someone of relative ignorance here (like most of our support) the words "Zico - Newcastle Coach" would go a great way to pacifying me after the KK debacle.
  6. Based on? Never managed in the PL for a start. This isn't the time for an exotic coach, the rest of this season will become backs to the wall stuff very quickly. He won;t know what to do. IMO the time to expriment with a coach like Zico is when everything else is in place and that certainly isn't the case with us. When the fuck will "everything be in place" at SJP? Wake up man.
  7. How many Brazilians did he have playing for Japan like? Bar Alex of course I don't think he'd be too much of a transition from Keegan mentality-wise and he's certainly got the reputation that the next man needs to have.
  8. From SkySports.com Surely an interesting candidate - to say the least?
  9. Alongside the blatant, clear, definite improvement to the squad most were convinced of this time last year I guess we should be looking forward to taking one of those Champions League places. Choo Choo, all aboard the train to delusionville, first stop overrate new players city. Put in your typically arsey fashion, but some good points nontheless. On paper we've improved the squad player-for-player, but things are never that simple here.
  10. Despite all of the shite that's gone on, I'm looking forward to seeing this lad play. South American playmaker with a decent number of caps for Uruguay, who aren't exactly a poor nation, and no expectations on his shoulders. Hope he comes in and does the business because we've been crying out for a touch of class in the centre of the park for a good while now.
  11. Would be amazed if the new coach wasn't foreign.
  12. Do people take from this that it would appear to be "business as usual" at SJP? Allied with the fact we've just hired a new bloke (Ray Gooding) for the academy (and as a part-time scout) from Coventry, it would appear so. Though I'm not sure what else they could be doing.
  13. If Lee Ryder at the Chronicle is right (and this is fairly likely for once as he and his rag are close to the likes of McDermott and Sadler) then this was the case: So they've been sacked off, they haven't walked. In the words of Worms: "Incoming"?
  14. I wouldn't trust any of them as far as I could throw them, in all honesty, Keegan included and I think the lot of them have emerged from the whole debacle looking like utter cunts.
  15. If we are to believe what we read KK thought so, but the club thought otherwise. Hopefully they'll get shot while they can, then.
  16. Is he honestly worth all this fucking hassle?
  17. Have to say, this has been my feeling on the matter since those "talks" that were taking place after the initial furore. All it seems to have come down to is how much money the club stands to lose/gain and how much money Kevin Keegan stands to lose/gain. There was a couple of days delay while the two sides sought talks/legal advice on things and then Keegan seemingly made the decision to walk on the advice that he got from whoever - now we're seeing the "manager must be able to manage" line trotted out and "players were forced upon me", simply because (and this is nothing more than my opinion right now) that's what legal advice he has been given. He's realised that they weren't going to sack him and basically pay him off, so he's gone down the "constructive dismissal" route. Of course it might all be true and the man might be standing by his principals/could have been lied to, but as Crumpy says about the here and now - it's all about the money/covering their arses legally. Everything we've heard from both sides over the last few days points to that, if you ask me. Obviously nobody knows the true story and nobody knows to what extent the likes of Ashley/Wise/Keegan feel for the club/supporters through all of this, but I'm willing to bet that £££ is on all of their minds more than we are. I'm gutted by the whole situation, to be honest, and I'm struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. Think there's going to be some more dreadful months ahead, at least.
  18. Glad the penny is dropping with this cunt. Odious twat. Not many I dislike more.
  19. According to Keegan the other day, he already knew that and actually said it himself. Nothing story.
  20. Aye, seems to fit the bill for what a lot of us have been looking for in a new striker. Looking forward to seeing if he can cut the mustard here. Saw him a bit last season for Depor and looked canny enough without really standing out/
  21. Add the Summers of 2003 and 2004 to that. Disappointing the windows closed with us only having one recognised left back who's just pulled his hamstring all the same. All true, but 2006 was a fucking low, low ebb in this club's recent history and even with that squad we went on to have a very nifty UEFA cup campaign with an appalling manager at the helm. I'm still holding out for an Insua sort coming in at LB as I can't believe KK will be happy with having to rely on N'Zogbia and Bassong to cover there when we're struggling for bodies elsewhere.
  22. Doesn't tell the whole story. Okay, so Carr, Milner, Emre and Faye have gone. Two of whom were first choice players who played a fair bit last season (31 games last season for Milner, 23 for Faye) and two of whom who have struggled for fitness here for years and were generally seen as deadwood (13 games for Carr last term, 15 for Emre) - all include sub appearances. Then there's Rozehnal, who was away from January anyway. Peter Ramage and Lamine Diatta barely kicked a ball between them all season for our cause. Technically the numbers might have decreased (even though I think it's laughable to include Ramage and Diatta) as far as the first team goes, but you'd hope that the quality and fitness will have improved - though I suppose only time will tell on that. I'm still not convinced we've done all our business though, and wouldn't be surprised to see another loan deal or two in place.
