I like how he's talking to the media more, makes it appear though he cares to us lot. Hopefully he can build on the Sunderland game because I thought he was excellent. I like him.

If it wins we might be able to edit some stuff on there, like the Milburn/Leazes of SJP peaking out over the top somewhere for example. The vote is for the concept as much as the image itself I suppose.

No, no it wasn't. Done by someone who's been a member for about 2 1/2 years without any blemishes on their record as far as I know. For anyone wondering; we've deliberately omitted the names from the entries so that they are judged purely on their quality. Although if people were desperate to know who did what then they'd easily be able to do so by looking in the thread we set-up asking for entries. All of the entries are legitimate and from good sources as far as we're aware.

You're probably right like as it's long overdue. Over 8 years since you scored more than 2 goals against us and even then we had 9 men..

I tend to like fullbacks these days. I think Habib Beye is definitely up there despite his brief time here. Prior to that it has to be obvious ones like Pedro, Shearer, Ferdinand, Ginola, Albert, Robert and Bellamy. A fit Woodgate as well, like poetry in motion at the back that lad when he was here. Outside of the Toon I think Patrice Evra and Jose Bosingwa are good to watch. Think van Nistelrooy is a fantastic, fantastic footballer (not just goalscorer), Vieira was monstrous at Arsenal as well. Not too keen on many non-NUFC players like, there's none I'd follow a team specifically for.

Those three fit, even under Kinnear, and we'd be safe no bother. Unfortunately two of them are made of paper and the other seems to be losing his invincibility the longer he spends here as well.

Hello one and all, Firstly we'd like to thank everybody who took the time to create and submit a design for our competition and we'd like to apologise for the delay that there has been between the deadline for submissions and the final vote. Due to the current incarnation of the forum not being fully tweaked yet, we have had to postpone the design plans for the "new" Newcastle-Online for a little while, but we're hoping we can get into the swing of things soon, hence why it is time to put the best entries at your mercy. Please remember that you are simply voting for your favourite image, but also bear in mind that the winning design may be used as a template for the entire N-O website - whether the image is a standard logo or a header doesn't matter as the winning design will not necessarily be the exact final product when the whole redesign is complete. We will be looking to work with the winning designer to sculpt the future of this place. Due to the importance of the competition, rather than just creating a basic anonymous poll the voting system will be as follows: • Approved entries will be posted in the chronological order of their submission below. • To vote for your favourite design you simply need to "quote" the post that contains it and submit it as a post of your own, no text is necessary. • Voting will run until Sunday 8th February 2009 @ 11.59pm. And it wouldn't be N-O without a few regulations, would it? • If the vote is tied the final decision will be made by the Admin team and the winner will be announced in due course. • Votes will only be accepted if they are submitted as outlined above. • The winning image will fall under the ownership of Newcastle-Online and may be incorporated into the new design for the website. • Although a winner will be chosen and rewarded in kind, the Admin reserve the right to use an alternate/modified image for the new site, should it be deemed necessary. Finally, the winner of the vote will receive a free t-shirt of their choice from the Newcastle-Online Shop! Good luck to all of our entrants and happy voting to all of you lot!

Wor lass had 8 inches this morning and she's still on. Did you get a red willy?

On .co.uk, Joe reckons Oba is closest to starting out of the returning forwards but that Smith and Viduka could both be in contention. At the least he expects them to be on the bench and fit to come on for a spell.

The fact that Ashley only saw our players train for the first time last week says it all. He has completely underestimated the role he would have as owner of NUFC. Fair play to Kinnear for his persistance on all of this, like, seems to be getting through.
-
He's not the first to have said that about Taylor. Viduka said it recently on NUFC TV and I'm sure I've seen him mentioned as the thickest on Soccer AM as well - maybe even Shearer when he was on? Can't remember for certain.

Wullie/johnnypd: Surely it couldn't just be that he hasn't got the first clue about how to run a football club or, more specifically, how to run Newcastle United. He's never been involved in football before, it would be realistic. I was watching a documentary about Sir Alan Sugar the other day and it talked about him buying Spurs, which he absolutely, positively regretted because he'd been a very successful businessman in his own right and he was thrown into a world where he had no experience and where the vast majority of people he was dealing with were utter cunts, basically, if you take him at his word. He had a director of football in Terry Venables there at the time, who had been part of the takeover and STILL ended up sacking him: That's from Wikipedia and I see a lot of similarities. I genuinely think he's bought a bastard and he hasn't got a clue how to do things in a way that will be both supported and make sound financial sense. But I don't think he was here to rip us off or drive us into the ground.
-
That's what he wanted to do. The failure to do so is because he was too stupid to do his homework and he walked into a booby trap left by SJH. Speculation again mate. There's absolutely no proof to say he was here to make a quick buck. Why go to all the trouble with meetings and all that and sitting with the fans if that was the case? A lot doesn't add up if that was the case. He's made mistakes, aye, his structure hasn't worked yet, but howay man. To get the fans onside and sell three year season tickets which worked like a charm. Haven't the figures for how many of those got sold been posted on here? I'm sure it wasn't that many. Why the bollocks would he be allowing refunds if that was the case!? Surely he'd have made it a cast-iron contract.
