There's some good points worth thinking about amidst the agendas from both sides in here. I understand there may be good reasons for us not bringing in any quality players, but I still feel uneasy about it. I think it's a fairly sensible approach to build up the Academy if we cannot attract the biggest players, well it's just a sensible approach to build the Academy anyway. If you want to be a big club, a really big club, I'm not sure you can have one without the other though. There does need to be some serious investment made in players this summer, and if it doesn't come then some serious questions need to be asked. I still think that the current board have a lot of proper excuses for there not being serious movement on transfers or any "big" signings being made, though, and that people judging them this soon need to give their heads a shake. I, personally, didn't get really disillusioned with the previous board until quite late in the day, when it became apparent to me that we were falling behind a lot of our competitors in this country due to poor decision making by people at many levels, not just by he who shall not be named, though he contributed his share. At times before the takeover I was feeling embarrassed to support my football club by some of the things that were going on, I haven't really felt like this so far under Ashley - although there have been a few things here and there which have made me squirm a little bit. Nobody is going to run a football club perfectly, and while we did very well at times under the last regime it was still clear that by the end that something had to change. I think Allardyce would have been the last roll of the dice and if he'd have failed, which he probably would have done, then it'd have been curtains anyway. Also, for all the time I've been on here I've never really seen N'Zogbia knocked since he made his debut, I've certainly rated him highly from the first time I saw him play and I thought that was the case for most of us on here?

My short answer would simply be: you're never going to get a squad/staff that all like each other, although it's an absolutely key element of success to have good "team chemisty". Chemistry on the park and liking someone off it could be and should be two entirely different things, though. That's the essential aspect of it. If you have a player who doesn't do what's best for the team because of a personal dislike of another/s, then he needs sorted out or, failing that, fucked off. You can never make people like each other, but you can make people work well together. Like Bellamy/Shearer sort of thing. Al probably didn't have the time of day for the lad off the pitch, but I bet he fucking loved having him beside him up front. Professionals just get on with it, like those two did.
