  1. Was more meant as an eye roll at Pardew, not you. Wasn’t doubting you at all, but that article is still appreciated Favourite bit: “Pardew revealed proudly” Fucking hell I hated him.
  2. Surely Villa showed yesterday that this shouldn’t matter? If we turn up and get after them, it’ll be rocking.
  3. Shearer had the same aura, to be fair, it’s all I used to remember hearing about him from other fans. Great player, but a dirty cheating fucker that referees were scared of. Think it’s one of those where you love it/actively ignore it if it’s one of your own, but are all over it when it’s someone else, and there can only ever be one or two of those players in the league at any one time.
  4. Aye, can’t wait for this like. Have hated Spurs forever and it’s the sort of game we’ve all been aching for 20 years.
  5. I was pissy that he turned us down, but he’s some boy. And his good morning/good afternoon/good ebening crack is five star.

The amount of people that don’t know Longstaff had tonsillitis and wasn’t just dropped is properly triggering me. I’ll just put it down to not wanting to read stuff after a loss.
  7. To try and find something positive after yesterday, this lot even pre-Ashworth seemingly knew their onions despite all the skepticism. Their first choice managerial target is clearly unreal, and is doing at Villa what their second choice managerial target is doing here. He’s also clearly unreal, by the way, and I’m not sure Howe many of us were fully convinced of either at the time. The leadership we’ve now got at the top of the club is hopefully what will bring a sustained period of being generally fucking class, perhaps better than we’ve ever been before in an era where it’s more difficult to do that than ever before. Yesterday was horrible, but the trajectory we’ve been on since the takeover is unreal and it all stems from the consortium. It all stems from PCP, really. For all the snark about Staveley, the allegations of her being a fraud, she’s proving to be exactly the opposite. If the source of our money was somehow clean, if it ever could be, it would be the perfect takeover. We looked doomed last year. We’re on the cusp of CL qualification this year, and have been to a cup final, it’s absolutely fucking mental .

People have been saying this for what feels like months. If he gets the rest you’re all asking for, he likely doesn’t get back in the team. He seems like a legend, he’s living his dream, but he should be backup to Botman from here on out. He was cracking at centre-back, he’s not been good at left-back. He’s had a few really good games, but plenty more really bad ones.

Teams have clocked us a bit as well, I think, in that our press is lethal and our back four is seriously lacking in athleticism for the style we play, and are going so direct against us compared to earlier in the season. Even Liverpool and Man Utd played a lot of percentage balls against us, and Villa lived off them yesterday. I feel like early on he was coming up with critical world-class saves a lot, but he was needed to sweep much less than he seems to be now, and he wasn’t being involved so much in general play by the outfielders. They would deal with stuff themselves or between themselves without going back to Pope. Trippier and Schär still do, as much as they can, but Botman and Burn are struggling in that respect for me. Their quick, short use of the ball has been lacking and they struggle to get out of trouble on the dribble or with a turn at times, so the ball ends up with Pope. We want him having as few touches as possible. Just another symptom of us somehow becoming a top-level PL team overnight, it’ll get sorted, but I hope Pope’s got a while left in him yet. We will reach a point where we can sign someone who does everything he does to a similar level but can also play, I’m sure, and it will give us another dimension. But that’ll cost about 5-8 Popes in the current market.
  10. 100%. We need goals and assists from there. The wingers in a 4-3-3 are basically forwards and in some teams can produce numbers in excess of the central striker. Miggy has basically done that for us this season, but it’s at such a low level and more down to us not having a settled in-form striker all season. I’d ideally like someone who could play up top if needed, too, so we’ve got something else behind Isak and Wilson in a worst case scenario. And someone with a bit of presence/nouse about him, too, as our current crop are extremely lightweight and not the most savvy. If this mythical beast exists, I’m sure he’s on our radar.

He’s definitely lost confidence since Liverpool and he’s still not great with his feet, though improving/has improved, but let’s not forget he was at consistent levels higher than most/any of us had seen from any keeper until that game. He’s still got loads of credit in the bank.

    Wow. (If it’s a wind-up, fair play.)
  13. Spurs clearly fuming that Chelsea are the most hilarious thing in the Premier League this season.
  14. TODAY, I AM BOURNEMOUTH!
  15. We still reckon it was a mistake to sack Vieira, then?

I thought it was just an expert brutal assessment of his performance, to be honest, because he was truly fucking awful. I gave you too much credit. Technically what you said is still true, though.
