    Match Atmosphere

Quality today, I thought. Voice absolutely gone again .
  2. 4-2-3-1 with Isak off Wilson? Or stick with the 4-3-3 and play Isak off the left?

    Sean Longstaff

Obscene that nothing was given for that, like, it was pure filth. Be a massive shame for Longy given most of us have just realised his importance to the side.
  4. We back to worrying about selling our best players now, aye? Class.

Fair fucks for this comeback, though Watford are absolutely rotten. Loads of the filthy fucks left at 2-0 and then at 2-1 in added time, mind .

    Kieran Trippier

Botman's not even our best centre-half. Fair arguments on the other two, but Trippier's right in the conversation with them.

His podcast has been a must-listen recently, he's spent all season rinsing Antonio about Scamacca signing and then Ings signing and him being benched, and now the shoe is very much on the other foot. In fairness to both of them, they've done exactly what you said and upped their game in response rather than sulking/giving up, and both are definitely looking back to their peak. He just seems the kind of character who cannot accept anyone being better than him at anything, which is probably why he's made it as far as he has.
  9. You can't say Targett had a "torrid time" and then accuse other people of revisionism, howay . Are you just letting that one moment with Iwobi cloud your judgement?
  10. When @The Butchersays it's a pen, you know it's a fucking pen. Also still loving the Pickford avatar, it's a forum staple.
  11. Where would people rank this one for enjoyment based on this season's matches? I know recency bias is probably at play, but it may only be second to Spurs (h) for me. We were just absolutely taking the piss at the end, after having to really earn the right to do so throughout the rest of the match. Spurs (a), Man Utd (h), Man City (h), Leicester (h) [CC], and Southampton (h) [CC] are all up there, too.
  12. What a time to be an eternal optimist. We'll trounce Southampton and there'll be draws all round in the other games that matter to us, then everyone will join me on a 9.
  13. I don't think it's too unfair to call him a mid-table player, but Targett's been "dribbled past" 0.8 times per game this season in the league, the exact same as Burn. He's also committed 0.5 fouls per game to Burn's 0.9. I think this makes "repeatedly skinned or giving away free kicks" seem a bit dodgy as an argument. Last season his numbers were 0.8 and 0.6, so he's fairly consistent with it too. It's harder to pin down data for the lazy lunges and tracking runners, but he's on a 45% success rate for tackling dribblers versus Burn's 52% this season, though last season he was up at 64% so there has been a drop off. Tracking runners isn't something I've really noticed as being a major weakness of Targett, or an area where Burn is clearly better than him, but I could've just missed it. Basically, if he's the definition of a mid-table full-back, I dunno what that makes Burn. Seems a very weird player to have an agenda against, and this is all ignoring how much better in possession and in general offensively better he is than Burn, as well as the extra set piece threat he provides. Would still like to see us sign a top-class left-back in the summer, but last night proved to me that Targett is significantly better than Burn in the role, even when he hasn't started for seven months. Hopefully next term he's satisfied with being a backup who'll get more minutes, while Burn moves inside to provide competition/cover for Botman.
  14. He's not even fully fit
  15. One more year, aye, but I wouldn't be that arsed if we cut our losses. We'll be able to attract better in the summer, surely?
  16. Wouldn’t be so sure… “When supporters started leaving as early as the 57th minute after James (Marcus?) Tavernier scored the only goal of the game, it was justified; there was little chance of these players turning the tide.“
