Seen some games with Yaya Toure lately and he looks class.

Do you think that we have enough cover here? Its an extremely important position for a team with continous defensive problems. We need someone who can take a lot of work of our defenders shoulders. Butt is ok but surely there are better players to get in here. Butt is excellent cover but should not be the first choice for the position imo. We need someone like Frings, M.Diarra, Makelele, Gattuso. Im not saying we can get these names, Im just saying its the kind of player we need. Im worried we are weak in the position at the moment. Appiah might be a solution.

Would have been a good deal on a free though, now we probably have to invest a bit more to get quality.

For this kind of money, surely Chelsea can find someone better than Chimbonda. They can even up their bid and go for players like Daniel Alves and Sagnol

Will Allardyce "being cautious" take us any further than what he did at Bolton? He might as well have just stayed put. I think he took the job here because he reckons he can crack the big 4. I agree, and clearly he realizes that he has to do that in about 2 years. For the first year, a place for the UEFA cup is vital to his plans. For the season after that he has to break in to the top four.

I fully understand why Sam wants a player like Hyypia. We need someone older to help all the youngies. Im not sure Hyypia is the right man for this though. Sol Campbell would definately be better for this.

I wouldn't say Carvalho was the strongest defender though he just has a great ability to read the game and often take the ball off people long before a crunching tackle was needed. Haven't seen this guy so not comparing, just saying they don't all need to be beasts to be good defenders. Solano is pretty weak but done some fantastic defensive work just knowing what the attacker was going to try and do. Zola played a few games as a central defender for Chelsea at the end of his time there. What you lack in some areas you can make up for in other I suppose..

Pearce is not much of a manager but he was a fantastic defender , maybe he should be a defensive coach instead of a manager..

I don't think Barton is on £70,000 a week though. I agree it seems much, but it is what was said when it was all over the news last week..

They said the other day that Chelsea offered him 60 000 . If we pay Barton 70 000, we should definately pay the same to Ben Haim

2 mil seems really cheap for a international player that was PSGs best player last season and also was in the french leagues team of the season.

What do you reckon he will be paid? 70 000 per week?
