  1. I'm not sure it's that clear cut with Woltemade. I don't profess to know much about him but was he not seen as out of reach/nailed on for Bayern earlier in the window?
  2. Talk about sliding door moments, I wonder what would have happened if Villa had won at Old Trafford last season? Villa's transfer window really shows that PSR is such a mess, it puts our window last year in a good light.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised if we pulled off one more signing but if it stays like this then I'd be very happy with the window. All you can ask is that we improve the team and squad and we've done that. I'd be very surprised if we don't get Champions League football now, presuming the PL gets a fifth place again. Pleased we bought Woltemade as it's exciting to have a player you don't know too much about and could easily see as a cult figure. "Surprise package", if it applies, would be Jacob Ramsey who I could see becoming a very important part of the team.
  4. This is bonkers, how are we getting anything like that fee?
  5. It's the fee that gets me as we should have stuck to our guns. Isak himself, I'm not that bothered about as I don't think he's that great. His value is more to do with there not being too many top forwards around at the moment rather than him as a player.
  6. If he refused to pay then he'd 100% be off in January, possibly on loan with an obligation to buy next summer depending on the finances of the buying club.
  7. We could very easily finish above Liverpool this season. A few key injuries to any of the top teams would have a big impact.
  8. Who's good? Mourinho and Van Gaal were well past their best and Ten Hag and Amorin have only had success in minor leagues.
  9. Any decent manager would crawl to manage Man U as they do back their managers in the transfer market which is all you can ask for. They've just appointed a series of terrible managers or managers past their prime.
  10. With the points we'll drop, we would be better off breaching PSR and being deducted those points instead.
  11. Agent-club relationship is on a spectrum where they can represent the club just as much as they do players which is why you see certain clubs only working with certain agents. Under Shepherd, Paul Stratford worked very closely with the club for example. I'm not saying we have to be in bed with agents like other clubs but we should be in a position where deals are agreed with the player and where we can trust it will go through before we even approach their club in most cases.
  12. I don't think we should focus too much on players, the big negative for me this transfer window is that we must have awful relationships with agents. They're the gatekeepers who make or break deals and where conversations take place before we even approach a club. They've lead us down the garden path a few times this summer.
  13. We very rarely played with both of them on the pitch
  14. So they'd need a strike rate roughly the same as Salah? 30+ goals a season and very rarely would they be on the pitch at the same time.
  15. I could see something similar to Joselu when he was at Madrid for the season to allow us time to regroup and assess other players.
  16. Would it work like that when we only play with one striker?
  17. The question is whether we have any targets left that we're prepared to spend a lot of money on? We could easily now be out of options. Get someone in if necessary to do half a job fit the season, give ourselves to regroup and see who else is out there and comes through this season. We can't afford expensive panic buys.
  18. Don't think we have a choice. We can't spend a lot of money on a striker that is not one of our top targets.
  19. Honestly no idea but there must be someone we could go for out there. If not a loan then a signing similar to Wood who was always going to be short term and we got some of our money back.
  20. Unless we get Wissa, which we should walk away from after tomorrow, then I'd look for a loan to give ourselves time to sort ourselves out in January or next summer.
  21. I thought he had a decent debut.

OK, I'll ask another way. Time wise, when would you go with plan B or C? If those players are available then they could go elsewhere as we wait so we might end up with plan D or E. I'd love Wissa to come but we can't wait much longer.

Because there's only three weeks left and we need to find a replacement for Wilson. There are too many variables beyond our control to let this go on for much longer before looking elsewhere. You only let these type of signings go down to the wire if you're prepared to go with what you have if the deal doesn't go through. We're not in that position. Three weeks left, when would you look elsewhere?

From Brentford. He's not for sale until they buy a replacement. That's why the deal hasn't gone through by all accounts.
