They stopped the game and are having glasses of milk now. Apparently some Irish kids have invaded the pitch too.

Well you dont have to be a genius to understand that this is what the business model is for Ashley. The objective is to keep the squad good enough to stay in the league, not reach for Europe. We got lucky (probably unlucky if you ask Ashley) one season but can't see that happening again in the near future. Why we haven't sold more players is probably because there hasn't been good enough offers. When an offer like that comes in for Cabaye, Krul or anyone they'll be gone.

He doesn't want to finish 5th because then we'd have to actually add to the squad. Rather finish 15th, sell someone for nice profit, get a cheaper replacement in and enjoy the Premierleague tv money.

Let him rest when the season starts.

Can imagine no one said a word to him after the squad went to Portugal.

That photo from Andymc1 was definitely a game changer like. Don't think it would have been resolved within 2 days without that being all over the press... I still don't see how that is relevant to any of this. It's not like he has ever claimed to be the perfect muslim who follows quaran to the word. He just has a faith/moral problem with Wonga. How does the fact he's pictured in the papers gambling change any of that? Only thing it changed are the opinions of some simpleton fans who never understood the real problem to begin with. More likely it's down to Pardew being back from Portugal and having a chat with him.

If anyone seriously thinks that the photos in papers had any other influence on this than making some simpleton fans mad they are insane.

Big win for marriage equality and abortions! We're making history people

Did Cisse get married yet? Can I wear a condom? Are you with us or against us? Decision time people.

This thread is totally making my day at work

Is this really about making yourself feel better after taking that photo and giving a silly interview. Are you now looking to say whatever to justify that sillyness?

That's a ridicilous statement You don't need to be a muslim expert to tell they aren't a homogeneous group. Sure, if they all followed Quran to the word...but hardly surprisingly that is not the case.

What? Are you saying you can't think of a single job a Christian would refuse to do because of his faith? Off the top of my head: A priest who declines to marry gay couples. A priest isn't paid to marry gay couples though - for example, working within the Catholic church, I doubt it is in his job description. Papiss Cisse is paid to play football for Newcastle United and, in line with employment law, he must wear a unifom if one is neccesary as dictated by his employers. Excuse me? How is he not paid to marry gay couples if the church tells him to? Several countries do this incase you aren't aware. The catholic church doesn't permit the marriage of gay couples as far as I know. Therefore, when he took the job on, he knew he wouldn't have to do that. Whereas, Pappiss Cisse knew he would have to wear a shirt with a sponsor on, and at the time of signing we were then sponsored by a company that borrowed money. The original point I was actually making was that Christmas has precisely f*** all to do with the Cisse story, just like a priest marrying people has no relevance. EDIT: I see you have said that some countries do - I wasn't aware of this but as above it's irrelavent in this context. First of all I wasn't talking about the catholic chuch specifcly at any point. And for the sake of the argument let's imagine that Cisse's problem is with Wonga and not with banks. So the circumstances relating to his work have changed. Now you have a priest who is told following the legalization of same sex marriages that he will have to perform them in the future. It's however strongly against his own morales and faith. Can he decline?

Mental Also loved the part where Debuchy went after one of their guys and he was running away looking scared shitless.

It was a decent, well reasoned post until that last part. (although i'm pretty sure he will be using his religion as an excuse) But why? I've been to a casino and that's my personal choice. But by wearing a Wonga loga on his chest, he'd actively be promoting a company to millions around the UK that most people feel uncomfortable about because they target vulnerable people. Because he follows a faith. His faith is against gambling. Is he is using his faith as a reason for not wearing the shirt yet gambles in Casinos then he's a hypocrite. Did you even read his post? If he has a moral problem with Wonga, I get it. So do I.
