Well you dont have to be a genius to understand that this is what the business model is for Ashley. The objective is to keep the squad good enough to stay in the league, not reach for Europe. We got lucky (probably unlucky if you ask Ashley) one season but can't see that happening again in the near future. Why we haven't sold more players is probably because there hasn't been good enough offers. When an offer like that comes in for Cabaye, Krul or anyone they'll be gone.

He doesn't want to finish 5th because then we'd have to actually add to the squad. Rather finish 15th, sell someone for nice profit, get a cheaper replacement in and enjoy the Premierleague tv money.

A priest isn't paid to marry gay couples though - for example, working within the Catholic church, I doubt it is in his job description. It was a decent, well reasoned post until that last part. (although i'm pretty sure he will be using his religion as an excuse) But why? I've been to a casino and that's my personal choice.
