  1. Vuckic for HBA will work, I'm telling you. He has the ability to turn players and face forward. Vuckic can't do anything with his back to goal.
  2. This commentary is ridiculous. They make no attempt to even appear neutral.
  3. Tiote turning up to the big game, as usual too. Obertan is such a coward though man, I swear So uncommitted against the Liverpool mutants.
  4. It was an okay containing performance, but continuing as we are is tantamount to waiting to leave with 0 points.
  5. Doesn't have enough time in this game, and hasn't got the pace/athleticism (atm). HBA is such a better option.
  6. On a yellow too. Easy get-out for Pardew to make the change without damaging confidence. Absolutely fucking moronic not to.
  7. Like Sturridge all over again. Pardew is a fucking idiot if he leaves Raylor on.
  8. In here, thanks: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,91284.0.html
  9. I suspect watching Enrique lever him off the ball like a child will become difficult to watch after the first three or four times.
  10. It's an interesting line-up. Vuckic won't have the time on the ball I think some are expecting, but it bodes well with respect to a move away from our hoofball of the last few games. Hopefully it won't be as rigid as 4-4-1-1 with Ba and/or Vuckic stranded. Massive game for Mr Cabaye needed.

  12. £5-7m? The deal makes more sense to me now. Didn't realise his contract was almost up.
  13. But from a fantasy point of view it means you get a starting top-four defender who tends to get forward for 5.2. If he's the new Roberto Carlos or not doesn't make much difference when defenders get points for clean sheets, which is more down to the quality of team they're in than individual ability. Reckon he probably would get the nod over Luiz, or rotation? Worth considering for sure. Will wait until he's signed and playing then bring him on the wildcard. Will still only be 5.something - relatively cheap for a top side (possibly) starting defender.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

What I poorly articulated with my last line.
  15. Cahill ain't all that and chocolate sauce on top. Actually seems a pretty lazy decision. Premiership experience. Speaks English. Gets acclaim from the media. Will cost them "a respectable amount". [/iMO] He'll be able to do a job for them at a certain level though tbf, I'm sure. Especially with better players around him.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Again, a tough away fixture, I see the merit in having Best over Ben Arfa. His absence from previous games (WBA, Swansea) was abhorrent management though. Seriously awful, and it makes his absence from these games that much more difficult to stomach. HBA has performed exceptionally in limited game time, for my money. Made Kompany look like a mug, won a penalty at OT, scored against Bolton - the guy is a potent attacking threat. And I say this as someone who (internally!) questioned the levels of pre-season hysteria and hype surrounding his return. I suspect Pardew's plans at Liverpool are founded upon a solid defensive unit and trying to nick one on the break (/route 1). In his mind, the system won't be able to afford HBA and Best's aerial ability will be integral to his plans. As a different would-be manager to old Pardew, I'd like to see us defend-via-attacking. This might seem foolhardy, but I do believe we have the midfield to dominate - Tiote and Cabaye have a very good record together, even if their first half display at Bolton was less than convincing. If you add HBA into the mixture, we really keep the opposition occupied with trying to handle us and look a really different team. Our wing play suddenly becomes more effective and we have options on the ball. He transforms the team a little into something less easy to read/pick up. It's risky though, for sure. Playing Best seems the safer option, but it's just conceding momentum to Liverpool (and IMO - waiting to get beat).
  17. Just saw 'Shame On a Negrito' myself Fantastic
