If Shearer scores "here and there" Lawd help the rest of the strikers in the world - including Rooney, who isn't a natural goalscorer by any stretch of the imagination. Prem Goals - 04/05 - 11 Prem Goals - 05/06 - 16 Prem Goals - 06/07 - 14 Prem Goals - 07/08 - 12 Prem Goals - 08/09 - 12 Prem Goals - 09/10 - 26 Prem Goals - 10/11 - 11 Largely unspectacular stats before you consider the kind of service he gets playing for a side that's been in the top 3/4 in Europe for the majority of that time. Rooney has started this season well, and he's playing in a fantastic side, but whether he can keep up this goalscoring over the course of a season or seasons remains to be seen. You also completely forget (/intentionally ignore?) Shearer's role in the team to suit the purposes of your argument. Of course he wasn't crossing or dribbling at players from deep often - he needed to be end of chances, otherwise there was no chance! "If only Shearer could be on the end of his own crosses". To denigrate Shearer's long shots as being part of a highlights reel is silly too - if there are enough to comprise a highlights reel, it means he was capable of being a danger from range. Players who shoot from range consistently aren't very smart either btw - because even the best strikers of the ball will have poor percentages on that front. If you're not passing or trying to engineer a better goalscoring opportunity 75% of the time, you're not a very intelligent striker/footballer. Post-injury: he was still one of the deadliest players in the league, who defenders hated playing against, who (still) no one could really stop scoring or mark out of the game/nullify. His goalscoring record attests to that - and that could not purely owe to his "poacher" attributes because he played in some dire Newcastle sides over the years with very poor service (comparatively speaking).

Manchester clubs and Real Madrid - £47

Had that and £15 on Chelsea as a single (which I'm sure you can work out has made me millions). I'm very sorry David - what can I say, I have a gift. I'm sure David can deal with that loss, but it would absolutely break me. Of course I can. It's part and parcel of betting. Fucking hell. You remind me of the cheeky rascal invincible side of Mourinho. [/hope you're not a Mourinho-hater, as it was meant as a compliment]

Well, at least will no one will want to "turn his head" on this form. All part of PRdew's new strategy to keep our decent players. Will benefit from a passing game, and more options to pass to around him, especially out wide IMO. All looking very congested just ahead of our own penalty area lately - mistakes bound to happen.

Still pissed with yesterday's game. Waited two weeks and a weekend, and that was the "football" we played. Bah!

Dresden Wouldn't be surprised to see a dramatic improvement in Tiote if/when Santon plays.

Ever considered supporting Stoke City? Or just looking at the numbers instead of watching the football? Honestly Nut, what part of Newcastle's football has pleased you this season? Possession? Steely midfield? Passing? Watertight defence? Precious few bright spots for me. If that makes me depressing as f***, then fine . One of Crumpy's Papering over the cracks threads wouldn't be out of place for me though. Results do actually count as part of the football you know You're just trolling now, you bastard Anyway, in case you're being serious, I refer you to Dave's Teletext post. Near verbatim for a post I made yonks ago.

You can, and you should. What more could we have done in these last four games like? Win them all? You're a lost cause sometimes, man. Howay then, explain. No one is complaining about the points on the board. To wait until the results are on a par with the performances before you acknowledge/pipe up that there are problems which require addressing is folly. While of course we are happy, we can't just be happy with the points and ignore everything else. We have to look into the future and realise we're not going to get away with it every time like we have tonight. Of course, I'm not saying we shouldn't. But this is the first time we've been like that in the league this season. Deserved our other wins and held our own in the Arsenal game - we've played really poorly once - it doesn't mean we're going to nosedive. We could have been dead and buried in nearly all of our games this season before kick-off for the second half IMO. That we haven't is by the by. I think failure to acknowledge this as a problem going forward is nothing short of sheer myopia. Sorry to be a dick, like. Quite ironically, I can't see it any other way. That's utter bollocks like We weren't ripped open at will, but we were dominated enough that with a little bit more luck or quality for the opposition we could have been down a couple.

Only saw the second half (and read about the first on here!) but that was a fairly damning indictment of Pardew's managerial skills (if we forget his lies for a moment). Wanka' No longer do we have a team and manager we're proud of, instead we have a team who play like a shit Stoke and players and a manager we're not fond of. STaylor's job when Raylor had that freekick was to be a dick That was funny tbf. He actually ended up saving our bacon, but as ever, walking liability/certifiable moron. The role of full-backs in the modern game can't be understated - yet Pardew does seem to ignore this. Without ball-playing full-backs, a team becomes shit. Jonas is pegged back/stifled, Tiote can't play a passing game/becomes flustered on the ball with no options/strikers get long balls/opposition get more possession and the defence is under more pressure. Fucking annoying. Still at least we're fourth and more cracks have been papered over. [/garbled rant over] Just realised our team has played about 25 minutes (last 5 of the first half v Fulham, second 20 of second half v Fulham) of decent football this season so far. How the fuck we have 8 points is unfair on our opposition and spawny as fuck for us.

Just got in. Missed the first half. Followed on N-O. So I take it things are going quite poorly and Pardew is a mong for not taking off Raylor? I saw that "if only we had a new left-back on the bench" joke about ten times.
-
Aye, but Spain, France, Ireland and Holland are all pretty close
-
Cabaye and Barton will definitely get stuck into each other. Firecrackers, the pair of them.
-
Traore Gabbidon A Ferdinand L.Young Hm. I reckon we can... BEST... that defence.
-
Yes yes yes. It's so bad that I can't log in to facebook after Man Utd win an important match. Their start to the season has made facebook unbearable after they win a match. I can't wait until Barca stuffs them again. Pip is winning my poster of the month award

Agree with Baba. Seems to be the case with the bigger sides that they come out all guns blazing at the start of the season, but come CL time they're not as ruthless in the league. Thank feck!

What year do you think this is?!
-
I think Rooney will, barring any injury, just because Man Utd won't rest him/rotate him as other clubs will - otherwise I think Aguero or Dzeko could have him.
