  1. Really good point I think it's important to contextualise that Rooney does that for Man Utd though where they can afford to have him missing from the final third of the pitch when he tracks back/pressures lost causes. Not to detract from what an effective and good quality that it is, but don't think Shearer could afford to chase down/track back quite as much/as far as Rooney did - as then his sides wouldn't have had as potent attacking options left-up front. Don't think Shearer would have been as good at it anyway, mind you. Just saying.

    Sunderland...

That is sensational. Now that's a transfer story.

    Sunderland...

Love those. Incidentally, your avatar almost always lands me in the shit at work mate Apologies fella...it's only an arse after all. Nah, partly my fault for just sitting there staring at it and not doing any work.
  4. On what basis? Presumably on the basis that 2sheds is a know-nothing WUM.

  6. Tbh I don't think Mertesacker will be a big success for Arsenal. He's too slow and he's just not good going forward at all. Perhaps, but if that was Thompson's reasoning....
  7. Disgusting PR exercise, that. Pretty smart though, and I imagine it will actually satiate some. Accepted some very good questions (some of them, anyway). Presented some ostensibly plausible answers which are of course bollocks, but can't be counter-pointed within the framework of a question-answer reply format. Any real dialogue or discourse would rip that shit to shreds. Were this Q&A session not a big sham from the beginning, MA and DL had an opportunity to actually begin to engender a sense of trust with the fans by coming clean and apologising - instead we get these defensive patronising lies and hovering threats. Utter wankers.
  8. I wouldn't. Their defence is still quite susceptible to the odd cross - and I assume Cahill will be promoted back to a more advanced role alongside [banana] Daiquiri? I'd lean towards a 1-0 Everton win.
  9. Which sites offer big handicaps? When we beat Villa 6-0, and Arsenal and Chelsea (I think) won by more than four goals - someone put a -4 handicap on all teams. Might be worth doing for Arsenal/Man City/Man Utd with -3s.
  10. Swapped out Arteta for Walcott at the last minute. Arteta is a class act, but from a point-scoring perspective - have to go with the man with the pace, drive and the suspect final ball/shot. Still don't have any players in my team that I don't like though, and my defence is NUFC quality. Aaron Hughes - Jonathan Woodgate - Steven Taylor

    Sunderland...

Sunderland usually raise their game quite well for the big sides (except us, of course). Chelsea will have to be clinical and alert at the back to get the three points. I think they'll do it, but don't see a tonking on the cards whatsoever.
  12. That's how I couch/understood the question, and my answer too.
  13. Bloody tough call, but I think Shearer's hairline is still slightly better.
  14. Yup, it's basically hedging. So for all those times you only got one on your accumulator wrong, it provides some profit Obviously reduced risk = reduced rewards though.
  15. We have our own Ashley, Llambias and Pardew! (JH is Pardew )
  16. Had a dream that I missed the game, but when I checked the score afterwards it had finished 1-1. Ameobi '12 (Spurs') Livermore '76 I also recall the feeling of disappointment at only having drawn. So I think I'm expecting a win, now.
  17. 1p on Arsenal Everton Man City Stoke-Liverpool Draw Chelsea Spurs Man Utd WBA Fulham Newcastle = £9.91
  18. Some decent value to be had this weekend. £80 on Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal = £183 or £80 on Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Fulham = £306 Decisions, decisions...
  19. 'kin hell. If I could be bothered, I'd do the 'dramatic grave-looking realisation' face-meme with the words "...we have the best full-back depth in the world".
  20. Quite funny to think that we might soon have a surplus of options at full-back. Raylor/Simpson/Santon/Perch/Saylor @ RB; & Ferguson/Santon/Raylor @ LB ...and Paul Dummett. Admittedly, they are of varying quality, but considering we barely had bodies to throw in those positions not so long ago it is still quite the turnaround. CB looking a bit threadbare.
