  1. Santon could play the wide left position better than Jonas right now but what is worrying is why Marveaux isn't tried there when the subs round begins on 70 mins if we need to bolster midfield. I guess we just need a bench who are first team standard so we can rotate a bit.

  2. His lack of form is a major issue. I think he is one of the players struggling to adapt to 433 as he doesn't have the passing to play in the three midfielders and he isn't enough of a goal threat to plat wide left. His confidence is clearly low and if our squad was stronger would be due a rotation.

  3. I've been willing to give him time - and maybe we should stick with him a little longer but the thing that hacked me off today was how dominant we were with a midfield three who can pass and then how bad we were at the end.

We lost today because of the substitutions and Pards knows this. He's willing to talk about Cabaye afterwards and he has a fair defence. Injury or not Cabaye was not going to play 95 mins. But he ignores that the game changed when he took off Marv and the crowd to a person knew it was the wrong move. The second half wasn't going well, so bringing on Perch, or better still Bigi, into midfield might make sense but it had to be Shola or Jonas to go.

My second gripe is Shola who clearly is an impact player at most nowadays. I feel the wind taken from the crowd when he is a starter. I'm not sure there is any question left where Shola is the answer.

Finally, I'm 'annoyed' with our inability to chase a game. We lose all shape and create even less chances. I'm thinking Pards is a one trick manager, score first then shut up shop.

However I did like the first half performance and if you remove Williamson, Jonas ( present form) and Shola there is a decent team there. Dubuchy was a plus, he was better in the air than I figured, but in a good side his pace and runs will be an asset.

  4. Mattress and Kennedy were the best pair of full backs in my 40 years of watching NUFC. For the younger readers the only pairing close were Beresford and Watson in 1996/7. As others have said what stood Natrass apart was his time on the ball and effortless running style. Kennedy on the other side was pure power and so a contrast. Had a good spell in midfield before injury took its toll and he moved onwards ad downwards.

  5. It's not a good time to be a high earner in France with the new income tax rates, plus the challenge of the PL, plus the frenchies, plus the clubs positive publicity for rehabilitating players all means we'd be attractive to Remy (and M'Vila please)

  6. How many times did Pards do his little 'rainbow' signal during the last few games ie go long...I saw him do it at least three times during the Arsenal game.

I too wish we played more football on the ground with better movement BUT against Arsenal in the second half Arsenal pressed the ball a lot higher up the pitch so to try and find the space between their defence and midfield is no bad tactic. Additionally I have kittens when Willo /Simpson try and play out of defence so AP was probably just looking after my health.

Serious bit: players need to be more tactically aware - we miss Cabaye.

  7. M'Vila should only come if Tiote is sold, otherwise we should concentrate on a forward, and a CB.

Incidentally I think Tiote should be sold.

M'Vila would be a sep up on Tiote. His price reflects his off field behaviour and he is therefore a typical NUFC signing. I know CM is not a priority but sometimes you have to strike when opportunity beckons.
