I know he was decent in the U21s but against U21 defenders I wouldn't say that's too hard to do if you've got a bit of skill - most decent defenders starting in the PL are a bit older and streetwise. I don't think he's got the chops in the PL against the elite when playing centrally but this is just my opinion. Elanga looks to have more strength and less ball rentetion issues - I'd be tempted to see how he does there for a game or two.

I know some have their reservations about him but I'm really excited by this prospect. His flair reminds me Isak to be honest. The prospect of a potential lineup with both of them in with Elanga and Gordon/Barnes is mouth watering.

If a future bid after this one is acceptable, it's not going to be announced as we will mandate that we will not sell him until we can bring in a replacement - if Liverpool make it public then I'd think we'd be pushing the price up astronomically to compensate for the knock-on inflationary fee of anyone we go for to replace.

Way I see it is if even Everton don't think he's worth it (contract extension/new contract), why would he be worth it here. Eddie's not daft.

Can't say I only watched bits - more of an opinion on the last few times I've seen him rather than a reaction to today.

I'd like to see him offering more and trying to impose himself on the ball. It'll come with confidence and age, for his development alone it might be good to have a loan so he can build that confidence, bit like Anderson. Shame we have no squad depth to suffer such a loan though

With the signing of Ramsdale to add to Elanga, we've now directly added strength to our two weakest starting eleven positions on the pitch. Can't argue about the recruitment focus even if the execution has been lacking. Now just two strikers to bring in at a minimum please (presuming Isak is off), 2 from Wissa/Toney/Sesko por favor.

Hoping this is some sort of pressure being indirectly applied to Burnley or Trafford to make a call one way or another.

Actually I think a fair few have and I'd be happy to see him here, he's matured as a player since he's gone back to Spain. I'd take Isco from Betis as well on the same shelf of probably-under-£10m-but-very-good-players
