@gdm Edit : Technically I think Alex Murphy is now HG at club too, so we have Alex Murphy, Sean Longstaff and Joe White (3/4 spots). Edit 2 : I think we determined Lewis Hall just misses out on being HG at club by the fact we signed him a couple of months too late.

If you are under 21 and trained at club 3+ years, you're a totally free spot. When Miley gets over 21 he can take one of the 4 home grown at club spots. Until then he doesn't need to, he just gets his own bonus space, along with most of our youth team as long as they've been registered at NUFC as their primary club for 3 years before 21. Loans can mess this up though.

Been through HG at club already, only Sean Longstaff and Joe White fill the 2 of 4 slots. Notable ex players we could bring back include Carroll, Forster and Shortstaff as 'free' players for CL roster.

Expecting it from all angles right now

Even worse if you factor in January too with Almiron's fee, assuming that's just Kelly's on there

Who else waiting for the seemingly inevitable Chelsea last minute bid tweet?

If PIF wanted to make us a vanity project I'm sure they'd have done something since they'd taken over to test the waters. We're seemingly more like an investment. So I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for some SELA-funded, invite only cash injection.

Replied before in depth a few pages ago. It's less prevalent now but was a big issue for us for seasons before the previous one.

Hope we take it - no offence to Sean but I think as a squad we've grown a bit beyond him. When he first burst onto the scene under Rafa, the lad had so much confidence and genuinely looked on a similar trajectory to Declan Rice. Then it all tailed off under Bruce he's become a shell of a player, through probably no fault at all of his own. I think a new stomping ground, away from the daily pressure of being Sean Longstaff in Newcastle, will do him the world of good to reset and kick on. This fee - with the money for Kelly and Almiron in the past 6-7 months will give us a lot more room to manoeuver this window.

Let's hope this doesn't become our 2024 Guehi transfer saga and end up in the same boat as then.

Since Murphy has played on the right, the issue of breaking down low blocks is less because he plays with such pace on the counter (quick deliveries in or shots) that the opposition get less time to set up. With Almiron and Tripps it was awful because Almiron would spend 13 seconds holding up the ball to wait for Tripps to give it to him so we'd then start our attack with the defence already set for the past minute. Low block breaking is an issue for every team in the world, there'll always be passages of play when the opponent is camped outside their box. This is when you need technical players who can receive and play balls extremely quickly (Tonali's one touch passing would be absolutely superb at this), combined with players who can make intelligent runs and draw defenders out of position making gaps. What we have though is mostly players who kick the ball far ahead of themselves and run as fast as they can - Gordon, Barnes, Joe Linton, Willock especially. They are next to useless in a low block situation most of the time. As we evolve into a team that holds more possession, we will meet low blocks more often and we'll need the tools to overcome them. It's not about fundamentally changing how we play, which is unarguably very effective, it's just having horses for courses and it wouldn't hurt to have a slower, more technical player for those situations.

Well, if he was ever going to Chelsea, I'm pretty sure they'd have wrapped him up by now judging by how quickly we're linked with players and then they gazump us - Tosin, Pedro etc.

If you were to merge Thomas Tuchel and Tino Livramento into one person...

I wonder if we're actively Chelsea-baiting sometimes Get them to buy all our fallback targets then go for the main one after they've splurged

Or the minutes taken away from developing players in the same position?
