I've always been a fan. Don't think the club will be able to buy a comparable player at a reasonable price. If we buy a world class (or future world class CB), top-knotch goalkeeper, Targett, and Schaar, we'll be competing for Europe next season.
  2. Manifestly the best side faced since Man United. Quite confident now we'll get results away against the relegation candidates and at home against midtable clubs. Points against the ESL six are not out of the question.
  3. It's not just the PFM pundits who are are quick to point to the sum spent in January. (Not the players, the amount spent. Talking about the players bought as opposed to the numbers is a step too far for them.) I've just noticed that there are a fair number who just don't rate Eddie Howe, or who hasd already gone on record saying he was a bad appointment. They're not going to admit they were wrong easily. I watched some Youtube jabroni reiterate that he thought that "Eddie Howe was a uniquely bad appointment for Newcastle", before mumbling about the January spent, catching Everton at a good time, and the Brentford red card. He was really struggling. But I sensed that his animus wasn't really with Nufc, it was with Eddie Howe. On one of the Southamton boards, they're having a go at each other about Howe. Seems half of the board are sarcastically predicting our upcoming tie as an easy win for the Saints because "Howe is a crap". The other half of the board, are calling them WUMs. Board history, I suppose. Maybe some Southamton fans don't rate How because of the Bournemouth connection? Who knows. Anyway, it's going to take some time for Howe to get the credit he deserves. Some people are deeply invested in not seeing the obvious.
  4. I was pretty confident we'd hold, especially once Bruno came on. We continued to give the ball away cheaply, but Brighton weren't that threatening. A breakaway goal from ASM was more likely.
  5. That's going to happen every game. When Ritchie was starting everything went down that side. You'd be a fool not to. Want Manquillo back.
  6. I dislike Krafth as much as the next guy, but he did alright. Brighton targeted him as the weak link, and he didn't break.
  7. We coast second half with Bruno instead of Shelvey. ASM might have had two assists if he looked up. Just senseless. Schaar was our best player.
  8. thought joelinton was poor first half. he's just about the only player playing better this half
  9. How thick is Krafth? And why the hell is he backpeddling towards the touchline instead of making a run past the defender? Bruno then switches play.
  10. Read that thread. All 32 pages of it. They were all for him in the beginning thinking he was a good appointment. Based on what? At page 15 there were still some thick f*cks complaining that "the players had sucked the life out of Bruce". The players had sucked the life out of Bruce. They were actually afraid he was going to walk away after three games, Anyway, the pennies started to drop at that point, and now it's all crying and gnashing of teeth.
  11. Said he was impressed with Lampard as well. Of the generation that grew up watching Lampard & Gerrard), and assumed that they'd make great managers as well. (Eddie Howe? Hmmm who did he play for again?)

Well, I think that Schaar's talents really didn't align with Bruce "tactics". There was a chart floating around that really made Schaar look bad-- moneyball and all that. He wasn't going to look good in Bruce's "system". Clark, he played football the Steve Bruce way(TM)
  13. The midfield is providing some protection. They've been a huge part of it.
  14. We shouldn't overestimate them either. They won 4 of their first 5 games. They have won 3 games since September.
  15. Home win. Their form is quite poor. Haven't scored in three matches. Two wins this year, Everton and Watford. Confident about this one.
  16. Jeez.. it's almost as if PIF's ownership of Newcastle United isn't unprecended. Ooops, whataboutism.
