hard decision for nufc to make, either leaving it too long and risking losing Owen on a free, or giving him a 2yr contract extension, and seeing him pick up another serious injury while being paid £120k/wk
I dont think its bad at all, IMO better than being 5 rows from the front.
Also can be good if the away fans are making a fair amount of racket, and you beat them
Most seafarers have two passports, for that exact same reason... many countries around the world, dont like seeing certain other countries stamps in your passport. Think Korea and Japan are another example.
he already hasn't got the pace everyone remembers him for (i never thought it would be possible to mix that many tenses in one sentence),but he has the shearer knack of getting in the right place, you don't need pace of foot for that.
Yeah, totally agree on the pace thing, its been like that since before him came to toon.
If he plays in this Euro 2008, and the World cup qualifiers and we make it to WC 2010, he should have enough games to break the record, thats *IF* he stays fit.
Should he break the record, it may well be another good reason to retire after WC 2010
Obviously depends on injuries...if he could actually stay injury free for the next 3 seasons, then undoubtedly 'Yes', but as he wont, it will be tight.
I can see him doing a Shearer, and retiring from International footy after the next world cup, he'll be 30, wont have the pace everyone remembers him for, and has had a history of serious injuries.
Heard that when he got out of the shower after last nights match, he was rolling around on the floor holding his knee/thigh/ankle/leg, cos the water was too hot.
Serbia 0-0 Finland
Portugal 2-2 Poland
Leaves Group A looking very interesting with only a few games to go:
Pol 10/20
Fin 10/18
Por 9 /16
Ser 9 /15
All teams still have to play each other.
Group A is full of interesting fixtures tonight too...
Serbia vs Finland
Portugal vs Poland
all 4 are close at the top, and any could still qualify.
Italy vs France in Scotlands group B too.
Huntington starts on the bench today vs Hartlepool, Shola's brother Tomi starts upfront.
Noticed that David Prutton is playing for Leeds, how things have changed from a few years ago when Bobby apparently wanted to sign him, then saw Jenarse.
