id have big respect for Roeder if he managed to ship out all the dead wood at the club (and theres a lot of it!) But... Will other clubs be prepared to match certain players wage demands, for the quality of player they are getting... Eg Dyer, Carr, Babayaro... If we did get rid, would any decent/good players actually wonna come here any more? Would Roeder be able to attract good players Or would we just end up giving a big name(s) £80k a week, for him to toss it off...

I would have him, as i think hes a decent coach, big name and will attract top players BUT i couldnt imagine him sticking around more than 3yrs, and he'd cost an absolute packet. We'd end up sacking him (as we usually do) which would cost us another £5m

There really are a lot of matches between the sides at the bottom, which are probably gonna have the biggest influence on who stays up. If we beat Watford alone, its enough. But i just dont fancy going into the last day of the season NEEDing to beat them.

If the players are as confident about staying up as the majority of fans are (ie Very Confident), then we'll go down. The thought of relegation probably hasnt entered their heads yet, just coast the season out and get ready for a summer on the lash

One win will keep us up IMO. Cant see it coming from Arsenal or Chelsea at home, or Sheff U, Reading or Pompey away. So for me, we need to win one of Blackburn (H) or Watford (A) If we lose the next couple (Sheff U Away, Arsenal Home) we are gonna be in the dog fight, then the next two after that are Pompey Away & Chelsea Home, and we are really in the mix then.

I think half the fans are happy that "Martins can score a goal owt of nowt man, we'll win this" , and he rarely actually does. Ive said numerous times, we'll see what he's really like next season, when he hopefully has a proper strike partner alongside him. He hasnt scored against the big boys this season, his Prem goals have basically came against the cloggers. When Shearer went 5 or 6 matches without a goal, everyone was talking about it, and saying he should pack in. It happens to Oba and nowt is mentioned. Im not giving up hope on the lad either, but i also think at the moment he is over rated. We'll see next season...

First of all, yes Man City did come here to defend, but at the same time, created as many chances as us in both halfs. Second of all, Glenn, thats the problem - teams have worked us out, the scrappers like City, Sheff U, Charlton, Fulham know you can sit back for 90mins hold tight and more than likely you will get a goal against our defence. Teams have tried this against Man U for years, but its never worked. Come to Newcastle and it works a treat. Thats YOUR problem cos the players arent good enough to break teams down, and you make strange tactical decisions which dont help. Man City put men behind the ball, as you claim, but we didnt have a creative central midfielder...nice one.

i agree with that... whether Roeder did a 'cr*p job' selecting them, on the field today were 11 VERY well paid players, all playing in their correct positions (bar Dyer, who many on here argue is better up front). They didnt perform. When you pick 11 players in their correct positions, who are earning on average £40k/week, you expect more than that.

funny isnt.... we have no choice but to support this rabble, yet people from ALL over the world, pick NUFC as their club, even though weve won jack, and will never win nowt! Proper supporters, dont jump on the Manure/Arse/Chelski bandwagon. Personally i remember in Helsinki in 2002 there were a good 50 Nufc fans at a sports bar every weekend to watch the game, about 40 Manure fans, 30 Arse, 20 Spurs, 10 B'burn... Now the 50 NUFC fans still exist, but theres 70-100 chelski fans and a bar called 'Chelsea Pub'. Probably rename it to Man Utd Pub in the summer...

after todays results, we are 7 points from 18th place. Games remaining: Home: Arsenal, Chelsea, Blackburn...Away: Sheff U, Ports, Reading, Watford. With our record away to bottom clubs, and having to play Arsen Chelsea at home, we are in with a serious chance of relegation.
