Hajduk Split celebrate their 100th birthday, pretty impressive - http://ultras-tifo.net/news/285-hajduk-split-100-years-celebration.html

Surprised I'm the only one thats gone for Costacurta like although my choice is based on partnership. Him and Baresi man, you just don't get better defensive partnerships than that. Batigol on the bench, he was just a devastating all round goals machine. More in the v. Nistelrooy mould I'd say.
-
Not with mine. Benched for versatility and Cafu's superior attacking nous to cover Messi drifting in. Gone for the team rather than the 11 best players though.
-
I can probably play all those dates

Schmeichel Cafu Baresi Costacurta Maldini Vieira Zidane Xavi Hernandez Messi Ronaldo The artist formerly known as CR9 Buffon, Zanetti, Batistuta, Ronaldinho, Van Basten, Iniesta, Cannavaro Honorable mentions for Figo, Redondo, Rui Costa & Nesta. Fuck me Milan have had some defenders. Edit: and fuck no van Nistelrooy, Shearer, Shevchenko or Romario either. Christ.

Wayhey. Bottled.

Hmmmm. Need a bruiser in there IMO. The Cannavaro to the Nesta, the Terry to the Carvalho, the Luisao to the Luiz etc.

That was a really stupid post tbh. Take way the honours from a footballer and you have nothing. It would be pointless to play for no honour. Shearer was a top class forward and striker or whatever you call it. But you ask a thousand people who'd they rather build a team around and it would be Ronaldo. He was an immense player with huge potential. And strikers are rated on the amount of goals and their threat. Ronaldo was the better goalscorer the better player and therefore the better striker. It the end Ronaldo won more, scored more and above all at his prime he was unstoppable. A true legend has stopped playing, but we have other players forming into true greats in Messi and dare I say Cristiano Ronaldo. Definitely got to say CR7. The kid has torn shit up (averaged more than 1 in 2 in the last 5 seasons) in the two widely recognised best leagues going. An unbelievable player, the amount of games he has won single handedly almost too.

You know you're good when Zizou worships you.

Derby my arse.

Batistuta 397 goals in 550 appearances (including international & excluding his time in Qatar) 0.72 goals per game Van Basten 277 in 370 appearances (including international) 0.74 goals per game Shevchenko is pretty much 1 in 2.

And is he?No,and half the idiotic/inbred support will never realise a decent player until it's too late. Spanner. Reading this thread from the first page should prove interesting. Not that I have like but just from memory. Best thing to do is not ever make your opinion known on a player but then call anyone up who said something negative no matter when or what context it was in about a player [/stu] Lazy journalism, best thing to do is "not ever make a ridiculously OTT knee-jerk reaction everytime we don't win 3-0 or better" [/rational fan] We got relegated in that season, do you think fans were going to praise our players in a season where we only won 7 times in 38 games. Some of the guys here did see a player in there, similarly with Enrique. Does that make them the idiot or...? There was a player in him, but quite a few of those performances in that last season were inexcusable by him and many of his collegues no matter what the environment was. Any criticism of our players in that relegation season was totally justified despite if it was their first season in the premiership or not. If it's important for you to be right then ok. Let's move on. No, I'm just saying anyone who thinks that he didn't deserve any of the criticism is being a little naive in my opinion. It's ok to blame the likes of Owen, Duff etc for our relegation but not the likes of coloccini etc when at the time they were all to blame imo. My point was more you shouldn't necessarily call people whether they rightly or wrongly make a decision on a player when you've not disclosed your position on said player rather than anything to do with anything specific re: players or specific incidents.

Been shit for ages man. Has had about two good games in the since before the World Cup. Wasn't talking about this game in isolation. What the hell happened to him! Always thought, ah its the injury, just needs time... ah, its Liverpool... but he really does look crocked. Michael Owen symdrome. Not to dissimilar.

Aye what a shame PL clubs pay decent wedge. Most of Barca top boys have not played abroad either & that includes Messi who only played in Spain. Aye, hopefully Messi will leave Barca at some point but I can't see it. It's also why many could validly rate CR7 higher than Messi as he has bossed it in two leagues.

Batistuta doesn't have a patch on Ronaldo, I don't think he even has a patch on Shearer. Great "fox in the box" and striker of the ball, but not amongst the greatest imho. I'd say Batigol is Shearer's equal like. What let Shearer down was that he never went abroad IMO.

Fulham: Schwarzer, Baird, Hughes, Hangeland, Salcido, Duff, Sidwell, Murphy, Dempsey, Johnson, Dembele. Subs: Stockdale, Kelly, Pantsil, Gera, Gudjohnsen, Greening, Davies. Drogba dropped for Chelsea.

A crying shame he never got a European Cup/Champs League medal.

Has it been mentioned that he is not going to commit according to Pards until we're safe and it was Pards great tactics on Saturday that resulted in his good performance. Ower much mumbo jumbo in here.

Still remember how overhyped Maturana's Bolivia was in 1994 (at least over here). Couldn't do it outside La Paz. True. They did have a couple household names like (Etcheverry & E.Sanchez) but Bolivia are always going to suffer from that problem. (aside from the general lack of infrastructure in the country) I can't believe away teams don't get humped more often in La Paz, I couldn't imagine running around there, I was knackered just from walking around. Didn't the FIFA intend to veto stadia at high altitudes? How did that end? Yeah they did for a little while but Bolivia and Ecuador kicked up a fuss and a few others too so nothing happened. Maradona was involved too IIRC as he is mates with Evo Morales despite Argentina getting humped 6-1 there. Bolivia are lucky they do have the altitude currently as they only picked up 1 point away in qualifying for the last World Cup (against Brazil believe it or not who they beat when I went and watched them in the return game although it wasn't a full strength Brazil side unfortunately.)

Unless they make a good run in the CL or mount a run at Lille, he will probably be gone at the end of the season. The great side of the last decade is gone, OL have been struggling for some time now. Still seem to spunk big money in the transfer windows though, although they seem to have lost their knack of buying medium and selling big. OL will probably turn it round when they get their big, new, more or less free stadium. On a seperate note saw the Lille goals earlier and couldn't believe it wasn't full, I know there stadium is a shit tip and they're building a new one but still this could be their best season for over 50 years and they have a team packed with exciting, young players.
