maybe he hardly got a chance for the same reason i didn't get a chance. ie the powers that be decided neither of us were good enough. this should go in the pet hate thread. get half a dozen football fans of the same club together and at least one fo them will come out with this sort of stuff "player X should be given a chance, we'll never know until he's had a chance" hey i'll tell you what, over 99% of the population haven't had a chance at playing at the top level, should give them all a chance. the real reason i never made it isn't that i wasn't good enough it's just that i wasn't given the chance so i guess we'll just never know. Couldn't have been less suited to playing for Blackburn if he tried.

He's probably the worst manager of the lot. I don't disagree with that but sometimes no matter how bad your manager natural talent will still win through. Plus Grp A has 3 teams that are pretty weak defensively in there so they should be able to without playing well get enough points to go through. Plus the others are likely to all take points off each other.

Agree, Serbia would be tough but I'd much rather play them then a South American team, we should beat them. I honestly think France will be out by the quarters and even if they and we get there I'd fancy us to beat them. Beyond that, unless a surprise team gets to the semis I can't see us getting past the semi's. Definitely all boils down to England winning the group. If they come 2nd its likely to be Germany in rd 2 and one from Argentina and the Grp A brigade.

We have a favourable draw which should help us massively. GP - Should win group 16 - likely to play Serbia - should be able to sneak a win QF - then play one of France/Uruguay/Mexico/Nigeria/Korea

Didn't know David Pizzaro has retired, anyone know why? cracking little player. Aye, he's been one of the most consistent midfielders in Europe over the last few seasons. Along with Vucinic last year he was probably Roma's best player. According to Wiki, so obviously, pinch of salt is necessary this is why he quit: Sounds unusual. Just had a look further and he said he wasn't prepared to comment in any detail on why he quit so it definitely sounds like he had the hump with someone. Shame, for all involved really.

I'm assuming this Iniesta is a planned sub. I hope so, as he is dreamy, the rest of the players who are missing out are primarily twats although good players. but i'd hate to see Iniesta miss out. One of my favourite players to watch.

Not a chance against either. Brasil are too good defensively if at full strength. Only point of attack would be Lennon against the LB. Plus England can't defend setpieces where unusually for Brasil they are unbelievably strong. I think if luck fell on our day we could beat them. You could say that about anybody IMO. At the moment, Spain & Brasil are a long way ahead of Argentina (who with a proper manager and a wiser squad selection would be a lot closer to Spain and Brasil) and Holland and then the rest.
