Given, Beye, Colo, Shirly Bassy & Jose are good enough for a top 8 team, its very much let down by the soft centre in the middle of the park. A brave and wise man would put Colo in Butt's position, think Colo is weak in the air for a central defender but not for a DMC, in fact he's got the right tools for the job. Even with out of form Taylor back in there at CB with COlo in front of him we'd be a better team defensively. If we get this new RB in i think Colo in Butts role would be a good idea. Defensively we are average but whereas other teams get protection from their midfielders ours doesn't aside from Chelsea away and as a result the defence looks shite.

Never had a hope in hell winning either of the cup finals or v Man U semi, playing the Champions each time. UEFA Cup v Marseille i doubt we'd have beaten Valencia in the final, Sporting result was probably the most gut wrenching as we had got ourselves into such a good position & were arguably the strongest team left in but everything that went wrong in the build up and actual match that could have gone wrong did go wrong.

I don't agree. There's plenty of clubs who've gone down and haven't bounced back 'soon enough'. And some of these clubs struggle to stay in the prem having managed to get back up. To even stand a chance of bouncing back, we'd need to replace Kinnear imo. Personally, given the current disarray among the playing staff and the management team, and the apparent parlous state of our finances, I think relegation would knock the club back for several years at least. Agreed, although it wouldn't be a Leeds-esque demise I could certainly see us being in the Championship, if not worse for a fair while.
