  1. Eriksson 'interested' in Toon job Sven Goran Eriksson's agent has confirmed his client's interest in the managerial vacancy at Newcastle, but Gerard Houllier is not in the running - contrary to earlier reports. Eriksson's representative Athole Still claims the former England manager would be available were Magpies chairman Freddy Shepherd to make an approach. However Still stressed that there had been no contact as yet between the two parties. Still told Sky Sports News: "Have we been in discussions with Newcastle? No. "However I was asked, would he be interested. Newcastle is a huge club, with a wonderful stadium and fantastic fans so naturally if a club like that made an approach to Sven then clearly he would be interested in talking to them but nothing has happened." Former Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has been linked strongly with the post made vacant following Glenn Roeder's resignation on Monday. And Still added: "I happen to be a very good friend of Sam Allardyce and Sam seems to be, as they say, nailed on for the job, the bookies have stopped taking bets and the last thing I would want to appear to be is undermining Sam taking the job if indeed that is something that has already been decided." Former Liverpool boss Houllier, now in charge of French champions Lyon, was believed to be in the running to succeed Roeder, but the Frenchman has told Sky Sports News that he is not interested in the job. Whether he's interested or not, it's doesn't matter because the job is Sams. If you say so...

    Sven - Yes or No.

I compared Portugal to Scotland on the basis of "closed shop", not strength of the league. I've read in other threads where you consistently say you claim Eriksson would be perfect yet turn your nose up at Houllier. Indeed you had the audacity to say Houllier was lucky to win the UEFA Cup - but I'm sure Goethenburg's IFK weren't lucky to win, eh? I'm not continuing this debate with you - a wiser man than me once said "Never debate with an idiot; he'll drag you down to his level then beat you with experience" But please stop spamming the board with this Eriksson shite. Oliver might read it, then tell Shepherd and then we've got the third abortion of a manager in a row That is coming from a man who thinks Strachan and Redknapp are better then Ericksson ;D ;D Hilarious

hahaha Hilarious stuff I guess Strachan and Redknapp have won the Uefa cup,the Italian league and have reached the final of the Champions league ;D That way your choice to put them above Ericksson is the right one. They are some genius people on this forum Dear God... Funny you say that - I was just typing a response to your post above about his glittering resume: The only serious achievement on his CV is winning the UEFA Cup with IFK Goethenburg 25 years ago. Success in Portugal must be qualified - look at previous winners in Portugal and it's a three horse race every year in the same way Scotland is a two horse race. Eriksson's success in Portugal is the direct equivalent of Souness' at Rangers. Success in Italy must be similarly qualified - winning the Italian Cup looks nice on a CV, but it is of lower value than the League Cup in England. Some shite managers have won the League Cup... like Souness! And the scudetto at Lazio is like Dalglish's Premiership at Blackburn - paid for by the owner. But since you managed his time at England - he managed to make a team that looks pretty damned good on paper look like utter shite on the green stuff. Sure his stats look good, but look deeper, at the performances, and the unfulfilled potential, the tactical niavety and the favouritism showed to certain "stars" He reached the final of the Champions league with Benfica in 1990. I dont think Houllier has ever achieved anything like this.Im not mentioning Allardyce cause he is still waiting for his first trophy as manager. Also comparing the Portugal league with the Scotish league is pure stupidity. I think the Portugal league is way too strong then the Scotish.I'll mention only that Porto had won the Champions league and the Uefa Cup. Ericksson also won the European Cup Winners' Cup with Lazio Ultimately he has won trophies at every club he has worked at club level YOU CANT UNDERESTIMATE SOMETHING LIKE THIS...
  5. ;D But we can say that he didnt manage at club level for some time now and he will be motivated to do it again Also he will be extra motivated to succeed at Newcastle so that way he will silence the critics who were saying that he is not good as England manager.

  7. Good stuff, cheers. The bits in bold are what we need more than any other. The bits in bold can be achieved with Ericksson too.

    Sven - Yes or No.

Im sure that 90% of the opinions about Ericksson are based on his job as England manager. The people who thinks he is an idiot should see his CV and what he has accomplished as club manager.

    Gerard - Yes or No

He is in the league of managers that we dont want to come here
  10. He's under pressure at Lyon actually. They didnt win for about 9 games earlier this year and went out of the Champions League early, they're way clear in the league but thats a given at Lyon. Lost the League cup to Bordo too Another failure Arsenal lost the league cup to Chelsea but you wouldn't turn down Arsene Wenger would you? What a stupid analogy
  11. You seriously think Liverpool didn't get any luck in winning the Chmpions League? They won it with even bigger luck but they were playing prety organized, well drilled with amaizing tactical organization. From the time when Houllier was in charge and especially before he was released they were playing pretty poor football I doubt that Houllier would have ever reached the Champions league final 2 times Dont you agree?
  12. NUFC06

    Gerard - Yes or No

Why not? Except with this extremely lucky season with Liverpool where he won 5 trophies he was average there and at the end they were playing poor football. He also signed some football legends like Biscan,Diao,Sheiry... Now at Lyon he is starting to do the same. He was eliminated from the Champions league when everyone expected at least semi-final He also lost the League cup to Bordo I think that if Lyon had some bigger competition he might have lost the title too. I think next season they will play even worse I just dont think he is what we need and i actually dont rate him

    Sam - Yes or No

This thread is stupid because Ericksson's agent said that he is interested So if Shepherd decides that he is good for the job Sven wont reject the offer. Still voted for Yes though

    Sven - Yes or No.

I hope we didnt wait to see if Allardyce and Houllier will say no but to speak to Ericksson first and appoint him asap

  16. Houllier=God forbid Im glad that he said he didnt want the job. Houllier never won some big trophy like Benitez did. He won the Uefa cup with great luck,The FA cup win even bigger luck(two late Owen goals)and the League cup. Despite this i dont he did anything that should be remembered. He isnt that good and that great like some people think. I hope that we go for Sam or Sven Sven is my man for the job
  17. Butt? We should keep him as a squad player but we need to sign some creative midfielder in the summer too.
  18. The day Sam quit Bolton Shepherd realized he would have replacement for Roeder if he was to sack him
  19. NE5 what do you think will happen in the city and what will change at the club if we win some trophy? Just want to hear your opinion
  20. That's nice. Can I borrow your crystal ball? There's a jackpot lottery on next week... Unless he takes Man Utd after Ferguson quits i doubt that he will win the Uefa cup and reach the final of the Champions league Dont you agree? yeah, cos only Man Utd ever do that. No but he has the biggest chance of going there rather then going to Chelsea or Liverpool I cant see him wining the Uefa cup with Blackburn Just my humble opinion. we are not hiring that your Idol so jump off his nuts. peace love
  21. He might, but they do get stuck in their ways and tend to go with what they know and trust. So it's far from certain and a definite gamble. His record isn't that good, imo. As I've said, he's been managing a club with much lower expectations and that makes a difference. Can you tell me who we should appoint? Realisticaly... I just want to know your opinion about this. Joe Harvey. Can you be serious? who needs a manager when the fat pig is already the manager mackems.gif Can you please tell me who is your favourite and who do you think should be the new manager of Newcastle United? And please dont say someone who died years ago. I just want to hear your opinion. Me, Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, and Kevin Keegan. Maybe in that order, I'm not sure. You are serious as HTL I guess someone else should ask you to see your opinion on that matter the answer would be the same, probably. Why? Cant you answer this question in a serious way? Everybody on this forum said who wants to be our new manager. I have answered it. I believe in the club. I think people such as Ferguson, Wenger should be made to believe in the club. I would tell them that success for Newcastle United would reward them in more than monetary terms but in football rewards more than any other job, they would be idolised forever, as Shankly was to Liverpool. I would tell them that if they succeed in managing Newcastle United, it would be success in one of the greatest footballing cities in the world, where it is a one city club, and everybody supports the local football, where people live, eat and sleep football. The trouble with Newcastle United - and I know you won't believe me - is that it has hibernated for decades and has only in the last 15 years woken up. It badly needs a trophy, and it could with the right leadership build on that, which would lift serious mental pressure and help to instill the required belief and will to win mentality, then go on to be one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I would ask them, do you want to be that man ? Forget manutd and their Alton Towers brigade of fans, and plastic people from all over the country without the moral fibre to support their football team, Newcastle United is a football club that belongs to the people of Newcastle, and you are the man we want to give it to them. You are the person who can build this club into a great club and a dynasty to last for decades, like Shankly did. Happy ? The biggest tragedy ever, is when Keegan left Newcastle. If we had won that league in 1996, we would now be one of those biggest clubs in the world. Agree with you about the city, the fans and that if any manager had won some trophy at Newcastle he would have been remembered forever. But i didnt understand which manager do you think should become the new manager of Newcastle United?
  22. Flores is very young manager. Its too early to say if he is going to be the new Benitez or not but i think he has the potential. Wouldnt mind him to come here but its a little risky choice Also i doubt Shepherd nows he exist.
